- IBM PS/2 Model 25SX Graphics Driver VESA TSR
- (C) 1991,92 International Business Machines Corporation
- developed for IBM by Tyler Software
- Version 1.0
-
- The graphics adapter on your PS/2 Model 25SX is actually an advanced
- video adapter with 512K of on-board video memory that supports "SuperVGA"
- modes beyond that of earlier VGA adapters.
-
- VESA.EXE is a TSR ("Terminate-and-Stay-Resident") program that gives
- VESA-aware application programs access to these SuperVGA video modes
- through the industry-standard VESA interface. Once VESA.EXE has been
- loaded on your system, VESA-aware application programs will be able to
- use the following additional VESA modes on your PS/2:
-
- 640x400 256-color graphics mode
- 640x480 256-color graphics mode
- 132-column x 25-row text mode
-
- To run this program, simply install VESA.EXE somewhere along your DOS
- path and type 'vesa' at the DOS prompt. Alternatively, VESA.EXE can be
- called from a batch file, such as AUTOEXEC.BAT.
-
- VESA.EXE may also be used on other IBM PS/2 systems, such as the PS/2
- Model 40, 35, 56, and 57, that use the same advanced graphics adapter
- as that on the PS/2 Model 25SX. Note that many of these other systems
- are limited to 256K of on-board video memory. When run on those systems,
- VESA.EXE does not activate the 640x480x256 mode.
-
- The easiest way to find out if your particular PS/2 has the appropriate
- graphics adapter is to run VESA.EXE on it - VESA.EXE will politely refuse
- to load if it can't locate an adapter compatible with that on the PS/2
- Model 25SX.
