- Have you found what the problem was re. DATA files in PBUNITS yet? The reason
- for this message is another problem I'm having. This cropped-up before when I
- was stymied by the DATA problem and I forgot to mention it. When I compile a
- UNIT using the metastatement $COMPILE UNIT, then load and compile the main
- program, Often I don't get the new unit code. The old code seems to be somehow
- "locked" in memory. One time this became so frustrating that I had to turn off
- the computer before I could get the new UNIT code included. Am I going bonkers
- or what!

- George --
- You certainly found something with data in units. Actually, the problem is
- that RESTORE label/linenum is not reliable in a unit. We have determined the
- cause, and it will definitely be corrected in the next update. Sorry it caused
- you a problem. I'm affraid that for now, you'll need to just avoid using
- RESTORE in a unit.
- As to your second question, PB ALWAYS reads units from disk during a
- compilation. Units are never buffered in memory, temporary files, etc. If I
- understand you correctly, you're saying it appears that the main file is
- re-compiled, but using a previous version of the unit? The only way I can
- imagine that happening is if you have two copies of the .PBU file in different
- directories. Perhaps your configured unit directory contained a path pointing
- to a second copy? I can't imagine any other circumstances which could cause
- it, unless there are other symptoms that might apply? Is this possible?

- HMMMMMM...
- -That's possible. I did point to a directory just for units. I probably got
- tangled-up in my underware that late at night.

- I guess we'll just presume that's what happened, George. But if any aother
- "weird" symptoms show up, please let us know right away. We know that any
- program with the size and complexity of PB is bound to have some "bugs", but
- we're VERY determined to correct them in short order, when they are verified.
- Thanks for your help and concerns! It's REALLY appreciated!
