- This program was published in PC Magazine, 29 Sep 87, pp. 339 ff.
- It permits direct, two-key entry of most high-bit ASCII characters.
- The display of characters is activated by Alt-Spacebar, and is
- eliminated by ESC. The display toggles with num-lock and scroll-lock,
- which also activate the entry of the additional characters. The num-lock
- and scroll-lock functions are retained through the use of the shift
- key with num/scroll-lock. Full documentation is in the magazine.
-
- As published, it worked only for a single-display system. Since
- many (??at least a few) of us have dual systems, with a mono monitor
- together with either a cga or ega, a few changes were needed to get
- the program to function in this latter environment. The program
- kbxdual.asm/com represents these changes to the original.
-
- The .ASM file documents the changes, while retaining the entirety
- of the original program, for those who want to return to from whence
- it came. The program has been tested in both of the above noted dual
- display systems. While I expect it to work also in single-display
- systems, it has not been fully tested in that environment; the tests
- that were run worked.
-
- Further test reports will be welcome, addressed to Bob Thompson on
- Gene Plantz BBS in Chicago, 312-885-2303.
-
- Enjoy.
