  5. This is version 1.3a of WaveSurgeon. There are many updates, fixes, and new 
  6. features that were not present in versions 1.1 and 1.2. If you have 
  7. difficulties using WaveSurgeon, or you have any suggestions or criticism,

  17. Restrictions
  18. ------------
  19.     This is a RESTRICTED version of WaveSurgeon. To get all the features, 
  20. you must register. In this version, you cannot:
  21.  
  22.         Save Midi templates;
  23.         Save SoundFont Files;
  24.         Hide Slice Icons;
  25.         Import Stereo Files;
  26.         Use the Edit menu (including Undo features);
  27.  
  28. While the reminder boxes are VERY annoying,they are better than a no-save 
  29. demo.They are designed to ensure that those who wish to evaluate the features
  30. of WaveSurgeon can do so.

  33. Specifications
  34. --------------
  35.     WaveSurgeon has been tested on Cyrix 6x86, Intel Pentium, and 486 
  36. (down to dx-66) class machines. It is *Windows 95* ONLY! You also need a 
  37. soundcard. You will get best results with a Creative Labs SoundBlaster 32
  38. /AWE-32/AWE-64/AWE-64 Gold with on board sample memory. However, WaveSurgeon
  39. SoundFont 2.0 banks can be converted to other soundcards (eg. Turtle Beach 
  40. has been tested) using a program called AWave. You can also
  41. get good results on soundcards without sample memory - just split the file
  42. into Wave files, and load the files into a 'wave player' style program.

  44.     To use the midi files, you should have a program similar to 
  45. Steinberg`s Cubase/Cubasis, Emagic`s (Micro)Logic, TwelveTone`s Cakewalk, or
  46. Evolution Audio.

  51.     To remove the above restrictions, you can order WaveSurgeon by:

  150. Simply run the WSEval13.exe file. It is a self-extracting file.
  151. After installation, you will find the following in your installation

  159. Sample files:   sample1.wav    (a demonstration wave file)
  160.          sample1.mid    (a midi file created from the sample)
  161.             sample1.sf2    (a soundfont created from the sample        readme.txt    (this document)

  163. Please load the sample1.wav first of all, and then try the .mid and .sf2
  164. files with your soundcard and sequencer.
