* After much criticism, changed the NoteTab Pro icon.
* You can now edit NoteTab's own INI files within NoteTab. The trick is to rename the modified INI file by using an exclamation mark as the first character (eg. !NoteTab.INI). Next time you run NoteTab, the content of the modified INI file will be used.
* Fixed a bug that made it impossible to use the /INI command-line parameter.
* Fixed a Clipbook bug that was introduced in beta P8 which made it impossible to launch applications without the document criteria.
* Fixed a Clipbook bug that caused headers starting with a lower case "h=" to be ignored.
* Fixed bug causing "Stack overflow" when choosing to apply print or text statistics command to whole Outline document.

* You can now copy the content of the Clipbook and Outline list to the Clipboard (see Shortcut menu). In the Hint bar, you can see how many items are contained in the list when you select the "Headers to Clipboard" or "Headings to Clipboard" command.
* Pressing the Tab key when you have several lines of text highlighted (starting at the beginning of the first line) will now act as if you have chosen the indent command. Holding the Shift key down will unindent the highlighted lines.
* System tray feature should work much better now. New command in the View menu to quickly toggle between system tray and task bar.
* The Explorer "Send To" command should work much better now with NoteTab. However, it is not recommended to use Explorer's Open command when multiple associated files are selected. This command tries to launch a new instance of NoteTab for each selected file. Due to a feature that causes NoteTab to check for previous instances of the program, only some of the files may be loaded. Furthermore, this process is considerably slower than using the "Send To" command.
* Clipbook: when sending a document to another application (for example an HTML validator), the default directory for the launched program is now correctly set to match the document's directory.
* Several other bug fixes and minor enhancements.
* Probably one of the last betas for version 4.0.

* Application icon can be changed through the Options dialog box. Thanks to Jon Aske, Scott Klafke, Paul Arzul, Tobias Graening, and Slava Shlyaptsev for their contributions (not to mention Arthur Smith who had the idea for the main program icon - the Swiss flag).
* Improved the behaviour of overlapping Windows and the "Stay-on-top" feature.
* Added new syntax elements to the Clipbook tool:
^!OPEN:FileName (opens the specified file "FileName")
^!INSERT:FileName (inserts the specified file "FileName" at the caret position)
^!JUMP:xx (xx can represent a line number or the following indicators:
TEXT_START or TEXT_END or DOC_START or DOC_END;
use the TEXT_ indicator to move within an Outline item)

* NoteTab Pro now correctly handles UNIX and Mac files.
* Launching the default browser should no longer incorrectly open "%1" (only occured on some systems).

* Toolbar/Shortcut menu: renamed "Add to Clipbook" to "Copy to Clipbook" and added "Cut to Clipbook".
* Changed the way NoteTab loads when a new session is started. This should get rid of some of the flashing some users noticed in earlier versions. Also, NoteTab should correctly restore the Maximize/Minimize/Normal state now (based on icon shortcut settings or NoteTab saved settings).
* NoteTab now prompts you before saving a modified Clipbook library. Added an option to disable this prompt.

* Added Search|Quick Find command (Ctrl+F3). Just select some text and this command will find the next occurence without opening the Find dialog box. Note that this command uses the current settings of the Find dialog box (search direction/match case/whole word/scope).

* Find Disk feature: directories should be remembered now.
* When File List is used to display open documents, Double-clicking or pressing enter on a name in the list will set the focus to the corresponding document.

* Fixed Spell Checker bugs that could occur when Word Wrap was enabled.

* Easily change or create new Favorites projects with the menu command Favorites|Projects.
* Options has been renamed Options and has moved to the end of the View menu to comply better with the Windows standard.
* A couple of toolbar commands have been renamed, so you might have to reselect them if you used them in your toolbar.
* Improved clarity of Second Window feature. The tab representing the left window is labeled "1." and the one for the right window "2.". Pressing Ctrl+Shift+W in the left window swaps them around. Pressing Ctrl+Shift+W in the right window toggles off the Second Window feature.
* New format for Outlines and Clipbook libraries. The dot is no longer used to mark a blank line. Loading and saving is now much faster. The old format is still compatible and is automatically converted to the new format when saved. The new format is not backward compatible though.
* Changing to a new Outline heading with a mouse click automatically resets the focus to the document window (unless Blind User Mode is enabled). If you want to keep the focus in the list, just click on the highlighted heading. Note that the focus must stay on the list if you want to move headings around by drag-and-drop.
* Keyboard shortcuts to move focus to the Clipbook, File List, and Document windows:
Shift+F6: Moves focus between document and Clipbook window or File List
Ctrl+F6: Moves focus to Clipbook or File-List combo box
Shift+Ctrl+G: Moves focus between left and right window when two documents are viewed side-by-side
Ctrl+G: Returns the focus to the active document
* Document properties are no longer stored in the file FileProp.Dat. The system has been changed to avoid potential conflicts when NoteTab Pro and Super NoteTab are stored in the same directory. The name of the file now corresponds to the program name with the extension '.FPR'
* Fixed the bugs reported by the beta team and participants on the NoteTab mailing list.
Important Information

This is a beta version! Before using it on important files, make sure you have backup copies. Please read the file Beta.TXT for more information.
The version number has jumped from 2.63e to 4.0 instead of 3.0. This was done to align the version number with that of NoteTab Pro.
NoteTab version 4.0 is the most important upgrade since the introduction of the innovative Editor Clipbook tool in January 1997. You will find many useful new features and lots of improvements. This version is more user friendly, faster, and offers features that will please both power users and more casual users. Several new tools and commands are available for the first time in a text editor.
There will be two versions of Super NoteTab: a commercial version and a Freeware version called "Super NoteTab Light". The commercial version, which will be available from ideaMarket for just USD $5, will include a spell checker, a thesaurus, and a fully enabled Outline feature and Search/Replace Disk command. The Freeware version will let you display Outline documents but will not let you edit them, and the Search Disk command will not let you replace text.
NoteTab Pro will be available at ideaMarket for $9.95. It includes the same features as Super NoteTab but adds: faster with large files, multiple-level undo/redo, bookmarks, real column wrap, HTML-tag and URL highlighting, and three types of tab settings (real, fixed, smart).

On the subject line, write "Notify NoteTab updates" without the quotes. Please write the subject exactly as is otherwise it won't be processed correctly. Then on the first line in the message body write the e-mail address to which I should send the notification message. Don't write anything else (these e-mails will be automatically filtered and any extra content is just ignored).
