- HARDWAY BETS:
- =============
- Before we get into the discussion regarding these bets, let's
- make certain we cover this important note: NEVER wager on any of
- the hardway bets!
-
- The casino loves players to make these bets because they have
- stacked the odds in their favor. Depending on which hardway bet
- you make, the casino's advantage is 9.09% to 11.1% over you!
- These are "sucker" bets and should be avoided at all times.
-
- The hardway bets are placed near the middle of the table in the
- separate betting section. You should note that several types of
- bets, including the hardway bets, can be made here but all of
- these bets should be avoided.
-
- The term "hardways" are dice rolls that result in combinations
- of dice (pairs or doubles) with the same number of dots on each.
- There are four "hardway" rolls: 3 + 3 (hard 6), 4 + 4 (hard 8),
- 2 + 2 (hard 4), and 5 + 5 (hard 10). These are called "hardways"
- because there is only a single combination of dice that
- represents each of them and they are "hard" to roll.
-
- Note: there are other dice "pairs" like 1+1, and 6+6 which are
- NOT considered to be hardway rolls. These are special "craps"
- rolls and are covered under the "ANY CRAPS" section of the
- on-line help.
-
- If you decide to make a hardway bet, you may do so by placing
- your bet directly on the hardway you wish to wager on. If you
- cannot reach this part of the table, place your chips on the
- table in front of you and callout your bet to the table dealer.
- An example would be to say "10 dollars on Hard 8".
-
- Hardway bets are normally "always working", even on the come-out
- roll. You are allowed to declare that your hardway bets are OFF
- on the come-out roll, but you must do so each time before the
- shooter's come-out roll.
-
- You are only paid if the hardway on which you bet is rolled by
- the shooter. You lose if a 7 is rolled (craps) or if a
- non-hardway ("easy") roll that totals your hardway occurs.
-
- Example #1:
- -----------
- If you bet on the hard 10, you only win if a pair of five's is
- rolled by the shooter (5+5). You lose if the shooter rolls a 7
- or rolls an "easy 10". Easy rolls are the opposite of hard rolls
- and are dice combinations (of 10 in this case) that are NOT
- pairs. An "easy 10" would be 6+4.
-
- Example #2:
- -----------
- If you bet on the hard 8, you only win if a pair of fours is
- rolled by the shooter (4+4). You lose if the shooter rolls a 7
- or rolls an "easy 8". Easy rolls are the opposite of hard rolls
- and are dice combinations (of 8 in this case) that are NOT
- pairs. An "easy 8" would be 3+5 or 2+6.
-
- HARDWAY ODDS TABLE:
- -------------------
-
- Hardway True Casino Casino
- Roll Odds Payoff Advantage
- ----------------------------------------
- 4 8-to-1 7-to-1 11.10%
- 6 10-to-1 9-to-1 9.09%
- 8 10-to-1 9-to-1 9.09%
- 10 8-to-1 7-to-1 11.10%
-
- The payoffs for the hard 6 and hard 8 are higher than that of
- the hard 4 and hard 10. The reason they are higher is because
- there are 2 "easy" rolls for both the hard 6 and hard 8 and only
- 1 "easy" roll for both the hard 4 and hard 10. When there are
- more "easy rolls", you have a higher chance of losing your
- hardway bet. Remember, you lose a hardway bet if a seven is
- rolled, or if an "easy" version of the hardway roll occurs.
-
- The casino payoff for hardways is either 7-to-1 or 9-to-1,
- depending on which hardway you bet on. You should notice that
- the casino payoffs are much lower than the "true odds", which is
- why you should avoid these bets at all times. The casino has a
- large advantage over you on all hardway bets.
-
- NOTE: in craps, payoffs displayed on the table can be written as
- "for-1" or "to-1" (like 10-for-1 or 9-to-1). The difference
- between the two is whether or not your original bet is included
- in the payoff amount returned to you.
-
- "9-for-1" means 9 dollars FOR the $1 you bet. A total return of
- $9 in chips.
-
- "9-to-1" means $9 paid TO you in addition TO your original $1
- bet. A total return of $10.
-
- Therefore, when we say "9-for-1" or "8-to-1", we really mean the
- same thing. A $9 total return for a $1 bet.
-
- WHERE TO PLACE THE BET:
- =======================
- In the center of the table there is a special section for these
- bets. They are located near the top of the special betting
- section just underneath the word "SEVEN" printed in red on the
- table. Please see the example above.
-
- To make a bet in the casino, place your chips in front of you on
- the table and call out your bet to the dealer. Example: "$10 on
- the hard 8". Make sure you place the chips far enough out in
- front of you so the dealer can reach them. Be sure the dealer
- hears you and sees your chips on the table before the shooter
- rolls the dice.
-
- To make a bet for this computer game, use your mouse and click
- on the bet you wish to make. Example: to bet on the 2, click on
- the area of the table with the pair of "1" dice.
