  19. 1. Disassembling Windows .HLP files

  21.   For all people that want to edit, convert to ASCII, print in whole or in
  22.   part Windows .HLP files. The last program, PAPERTRAIL is clearly the best
  23.   choice for Windows users and HHELP for DOS users. BTW, PAPERTRAIL calls a
  24.   DOS program and its use is possible also without Windows (but the docs are
  25.   in .HLP file)

  27. - HLP2DOC by Wolfgang Bayer - stopped at Beta-Version 16.05.94, converts
  28.   .HLP to .DOC, ignores pictures, crashes sometimes --- HLPDC122.ZIP (40k)

  30. - SMARTDOC - .HLP->ASCII, print entire .HLP file, S/W GBP 12.50, does
  31.   the job well, partly crippleware. simtel/msdos - SMTDOC15.ZIP (48k)

  33. - HHELP - DOS viewer for .HLP files, very nice program, can be used as a
  34.   viewer for Norton Commander, can also display graphics. S/W $35

  40. - PAPERTRAIL - probably the best. Freeware. Converts .HLP into .RTF, .BMP etc.
  41.   completely disassembling the .HLP file and prepares for DOCTOHELP(commercial)
  42.   converting back to .HLP. Very good product, never crashed during my tests!

  47. 2. Disassembling executable files.
  48.  
  49. There are many disassemblers available, but the clear winner is almost unknown
  50. Interactive Disassembler, currently version 3.05. It does all the disassembly,
  51. handles DOS, Windows, OS/2, etc, it does his job very fast, doesn't crash at
  52. large files and is a must for a serious hacker. If you start using it, you
  53. never return to your old disassembler. Available under DOS, DOS4GW extender and
  54. OS/2. Here is the FILE_ID.DIZ

  81. 3. Hacking satellite TV
  82.  
  83. There are many satellite scrambling systems available in Europe. For average
  84. ASTRA/Eutelsat viewers there are:
  85.  
  86. Videocrypt-1 (all Sky channels) - not hacked since 01.11.95 (infamous card 0A
  87.   start). Very good documented interface, many cards available, but not very
  88.   useful at the moment.
  89. Videocrypt-2 (Filmnet Central Europe, CMT, MTV, Discovery, QVC) - not hacked
  90.   now, no card emulators known to me at the moment.
  91. D2-MAC / Eurocrypt - very good system for hackers, many channels are hacked,
  92.   mostly Scandinavian, also human-biology channels.
  93. Luxcrypt - Very simple system, used by 4 channels in Dutch language. Doesn't
  94.   need any smart-card, only decoder box.
  95. Syster - Used by Premiere, Teleclub, 4 spanish channels on Astra and Canal+.
  96.   Not cracked yet, it seems that it is VERY hard to crack, so don't expect
  97.   working decoders in the near future.

  125. SATTV1.ZIP (841k) - old, but very useful, lots of thery of video scrambling,
  126.   the hacks are not very useful, but worth reading.
  127. SATTV2.ZIP (1178k) - Description of SEASON idea, old SKY hacks, many infos on
  128.   PICs (the chips used very often in card emulators), also PIC programmer.
  129. SATTV3.ZIP (1245k) - SEASONs for everyone, ICARD project, other interesting
  130.   files.

  132.   Do not expect to find working card emulators there, the codes change rather
  133.   quickly and these files are completed at early 1995.
  134.   However, I recommend it for the people wishing to receive some background
  135.   information.

  144. Videocrypt-1, D2-MAC
  145.   It changes very rapidly, for SEASON boards (ie. using PC to decode) there is
  146.   now VOYAGER 1.3h, which decodes all D2-MAC channels available and two
  147.   soft-sex channels scrambled in Videocrypt-1 (Feb 96).
  148.   All the people are awaiting Sky Card 0A crack, but no one knows when it comes.
  149.   
  150.   For users of the PIC-cards there are updates available on each code change.
  151.   
  152.   All the PHOENIX, MELMAC, SEASON, FREEVIEW software doesn't work with 0A cards
  153.   ie. with all ca.20 Sky channels.

  155.   WHEN YOU SEE AN AD SAYING THAT SKY CHANNELS ARE DECODED, first call the
  156.   advertiser and ask if it's really available, then look at the Net.

  158. Luxcrypt decoders.

  160.   The complete solution may be found at ftp.paranoia.com/pub/users/defiant in
  161.   one of the subdirs. But consider talking with some friends in Netherlands
  162.   before building your own. It needs an oscilloscope to test and requires some
  163.   analog-circuitry knowledge.

  167.   The hackers start to do his work on this system, currently available are
  168.   listings of the Card memory and some supplemental files (not very useful for
  169.   the average viewer).
  170.  
  171. There are some restricted mailing lists (eg. tv-crypt mailing list), but they
  172. are really restricted to experienced hackers and don't expect easy sign-on
  173. without significant mailing to the Insiders.
