  4. 20   INT. CARDASSIAN CELLAR

  6.     A dark, concrete-walled boiler room. Pipes and 
  7.     conduits run through the area. Years of accumulated 
  8.     DUST lines every surface, cobwebs in the corners.
  9.  
  10.     We hear the SOUND of a door opening at the top of 
  11.     the stairs, and a shaft of LIGHT pierces the gloom.
  12.  
  13.     An old Cardassian woman, MILA (last seen in 
  14.     "Improbable Cause"), descends the stairs, followed 
  15.     by Kira (wearing some kind of cloak with a hood), 
  16.     Garak and Damar. Mila is a cantankerous sort, 
  17.     scared and worried about taking our people in.
  18.  
  19.                     MILA
  20.                 (to Garak)
  21.             ... I don't hear from you for 
  22.             years, then you show up on my 
  23.             doorstep with these people.
  24.  
  25.                     GARAK 
  26.             I do apologize for the intrusion, 
  27.             but you're the only person on 
  28.             Cardassia I can trust.
  29.  
  30.     She turns on a LIGHT and Garak reacts to the sight 
  31.     of the cellar.

  33.                     GARAK
  34.             It's smaller than I remembered...
  35.  
  36.     Damar and Kira look at him in surprise.
  37.  
  38.                     GARAK 
  39.             I grew up in this house. Didn't 
  40.             I mention that?

  42.                     DAMAR 
  43.             I thought you said Enabran Tain 
  44.             used to live here.

  46.                     MILA
  47.             Tain was Garak's father.

  49.                     GARAK 
  50.             He could never acknowledge it 
  51.             publicly because he was the head 
  52.             of the Obsidian Order. Mila was 
  53.             our housekeeper and most trusted 
  54.             confidante.

  57.             I was never a very good cook, but
  58.             I knew how to keep a secret.
