  18.             pressured to have their children 
  19.             enhanced so that they could keep 
  20.             up.

  29.     it's a difficult subject for him. A moment, then he 
  30.     tries to calmly explain how he sees it. Despite his 
  31.     best efforts, Bashir can't keep the emotion from rising 
  32.     in his voice --

  35.             Giving them a chance to contribute 
  36.             doesn't mean sanctioning what was 
  37.             done to them. They didn't ask to 
  38.             have their DNA tampered with -- 
  39.             they were just children when it 
  40.             happened. Why should they be 
  41.             excluded when their parents are 
  42.             the ones who broke the law?

  44.     An awkward silence settles over the room as the others 
  45.     realize Julian is taking the conversation personally. 
  46.     Finally, Sisko cautiously tries to smooth things over.

  50.             fair. But even so it seemed a 
  51.             good way to discourage genetic 
  52.             tampering.
