  9.             only thing this Bajoran Cleansing
  10.             Ritual has cleansed is my profit
  11.             margin. So starting tomorrow,
  12.             everyone's salary gets cut by a
  13.             third. It was either that or fire
  14.             half the staff. Don't bother
  15.             thanking me.

  17.     Quark's workers look devastated by the news, especially
  18.     Leeta.

  20.                     LEETA
  21.             I can't afford a pay cut.

  24.             It's either a pay cut or a 
  25.             layoff. You decide.

  27.             Now everyone get back to work. I
  28.             want this place cleaned up and the
  29.             lights off in ten minutes.

  31.     The workers turn back to their task, all except for
  32.     Rom, who approaches his brother. Maybe it's the talk
  33.     he had with Bashir, or maybe he's just suffered one
  34.     indignation too many, but he's chosen this moment to
  35.     make a stand.

  38.             Brother, this isn't right. You
  39.             can't just cut people's salaries
  40.             without warning.

  42.     QUARK isn't used to having his judgement questioned and
  43.     responds with an edge.

  46.             Actually, I can. And I have. Now
  47.             why don't you concentrate on
  48.             keeping your hands off your lobes
  49.             and leave business matters to me?

  52.             But once the Cleansing Ritual is
  53.             over you'll restore everyone's
  54.             salary, right?
