- RINGMASTER
- Version 1.1
-
-
-
- Here is a new, quick and easy way to launch Windows
- programs. Ringmaster is designed for intermediate and
- advanced users who are tired of searching through Program
- Managers multiple windows to find the icon for a desired
- program. Ringmaster will handle up to 225 programs in up
- to 15 categories.
-
-
- Upgrading-
-
- If you are upgrading from a previous version of
- Ringmaster copy the new RINGMSTER.EXE file over your old
- version, but keep your RINGMSTER.DAT file. When you first
- run the new version press the INFO button and enter the
- location of your Windows directory (usually C:\WINDOWS).
-
-
- Installation -
-
- Ringmaster is a Visual Basic program and will require
- that you have VBRUN200.DLL in your windows system directory.
- VBRUN200.DLL is the run time module freely distributed from
- Microsoft. It is available on Compuserve and should also be
- on your local computer bulletin board.
-
- Along with VBRUN200.DLL you will need to copy the program
- files (RINGMSTR.EXE and RINGMSTR.DAT) to your Windows directory.
-
- Because Ringmaster must have access to your Windows
- programs and related files you must install it in the Windows
- directory, not in a separate subdirectory. Ringmaster will
- work best if it is included in the Windows startup group
- and if Program Manager is run minimized.
-
- The first time you run Ringmaster you will need to
- press the INFO button and verify the location of your
- Windows directory (usually C:\WINDOWS).
-
-
- Configuration and Usage -
-
- Ringmaster is designed to be easy to use. While the
- explanation may seem a little complex a few sessions with
- Ringmaster will soon make it second nature. Ringmaster has
- 15 pages that can contain up to 15 programs each. Each page
- has a title bar at the top. The title (or category) is always
- listed in blue and the program names are listed in black.
-
- Directly below the title box is a toggle bar. Pressing
- the toggle bar will shift from the program list to a title
- list and vice-versa. Pushing the button next to any title
- will take you directly to the corresponding set of programs.
- This means you don't have to scroll through the intervening
- pages. Pushing the button next to any program runs that
- program.
-
- The programs and titles are all contained in text boxes.
- These text boxes can be edited by clicking the mouse on the
- text box and typing in the desired text. Both categories and
- programs can be added by editing a blank box. Titles can be
- edited in the title box at the top of the form or in the full
- title list.
-
- Once a new program description has been typed in pressing
- the enter key on your keyboard will bring up a requester box.
- Here you have the opportunity to enter the command line used
- to run the program. If you aren't sure of the command line
- select the browse button for a complete program list. Clicking
- on the name of your program will automatically list it in the
- command line box. If your program won't run use the properties
- option in Program managers file menu to see what the command
- line should be.
-
- The entries will be saved when Ringmaster is closed using
- the button to the left of the title bar. Pressing the save
- button will save all entries, the current page as the default
- page when Ringmaster opens and the position of the Ringmaster
- window .
-
-
- Registration -
-
- Ringmaster could easily become your most used Windows
- program. Ringmaster represents many hours of hard work.
- By sending in a minimal $10 registration fee you will be
- supporting the efforts of independent programmers and
- encouraging further development of this and other shareware
- programs. Be sure to include your address or Compuserve ID
- so I can send you a registration number. Thank you.
