- About This Welcome to Drag And Drop Printing. The Manual documentation
- included in this package provides comprehensive information on
- installing and using Drag and Drop Printing version 2.0 for
- Microsoft Windows.
-
- Conventions To help you find information, the Drag and Drop Printing
- documentation adheres to the following conventions:
-
-
- Symbols Symbol Meaning
-
- * Indicates an item in a list or step
- in a single-step procedure
-
- 1. Indicates a step in a multiple-step
- procedure
-
-
- What is Drag and Drop Printing is a utility that Drag and allows you to
- Drag & Drop print ASCII files easily under Windows. Printing is easy with
- Printing? Drag and Drop Printing, all you have to do is drag a file from
- file manager and drop it on top of the Drag and Drop Printing
- icon. It's that simple, drag, drop and print!
-
- Definition Shareware distribution gives users of a chance to try software
- Shareware before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
- using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
- differ on details -- some request registration while others
- require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With
- registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue
- using the software to an updated program with a printed manual.
-
- Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software,
- and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few
- specific exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are
- accomplished programmers, just like commercial authors, and the
- programs are of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are
- good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is in the
- method of distribution. The author specifically grants the
- right to copy and distribute the software, either to all and
- sundry or to a specific group. For example, some authors
- require written permission before a commercial disk vendor may
- copy their Shareware.
-
- Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You
- should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
- whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system
- makes fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you
- buy. And because the overhead is low, prices are low also.
- Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't
- use the product, you don't pay for it.
-
- Drag and Drop Printing is a "shareware program" and is provided
- at no charge to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it
- with your friends, but please do not give it away altered or as
- part of another system. The essence of "user-supported"
-
- -1-
-
- software is to provide personal computer users with quality
- software without high prices, and yet to provide incentive for
- programmers to continue to develop new products. If you find
- this program useful and find that you are using Drag and Drop
- Printing and continue to use Drag and Drop Printing after a
- reasonable trial period, you must make a registration payment
- of $15.00 to FLFSOFT, INC. The $15.00 registration fee will
- license one copy for use on any one computer at any one time.
- You must treat this software just like a book. An example is
- that this software may be used by any number of people and may
- be freely moved from one computer location to another, so long
- as there is no possibility of it being used at one location
- while it's being used at another. Just as a book cannot be
- read by two different persons at the same time.
-
- Commercial users of Drag and Drop Printing must register and
- pay for their copies of Drag and Drop Printing within 30 days
- of first use or their license is withdrawn. Site-License
- arrangements may be made by contacting FLFSOFT, INC.
-
- Anyone distributing Drag and Drop Printing for any kind of
- remuneration must first contact FLFSOFT, INC. at the address
- below for authorization. This authorization will be
- automatically granted to distributors recognized by the
- (ASPASP) as adhering to its guidelines for shareware
- distributors, and such distributors may begin offering Drag and
- Drop Printing immediately (However FLFSOFT, INC. must still be
- advised so that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the
- latest version of Drag and Drop Printing.).
-
- You are encouraged to pass a copy of Drag and Drop Printing
- along to your friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to
- register their copy if they find that they can use it. All
- registered users will receive a copy of the latest version of
- the Drag and Drop Printing system.

- Statement Shareware Professionals (ASP). ASP wants to make sure that the

- Duplex printing saves paper by printing on both sides of the
- paper. Simulated duplex printing allows duplex printing on
- printers that do not internally support duplex printing.
-
-
- Duplex Printers
-
- If you have a printer that internally supports duplex printing
- you must change the duplex printing option from the Printer
- Setup option. From the Printer Setup dialog box, choose the
- Options button. In the Duplex Printing group box, select the
- option you want to use. Choose the OK button and print as
- normal.

-
- Simplex Printers

- printing the odd pages, pausing to allow you to re-insert the
- pages and then printing the even pages. After the odd pages
- are printed a dialog will appear requesting you to re-insert
- the pages in the printer.
-
- When the dialog appears you will need to re-order the paper and
- put it back into the printer. Depending on how your printer
- feeds paper you will have to turn the paper over and/or re-
- order the sheets of paper.
-
- Experiment with duplex printing with a small file until you
- determine the correct method to put the pages back in the
- printer.
-
- Some printer manufacturers recommend that you do not print on
- both sides of the paper. Please refer to your printer manual
- for more details.
-
- Show Print You can use the Show Print Dialog option to determine if Drag and
- Dialog Drop Printing will show the Print Dialog before printing. The
- following options are available on the print dialog.
-
-
- Range Options

- Shell "Shell" printing allows you to print files created with your
- Printing favorite programs by just dropping the file on top of the Drag and
- Drop Printing icon. This process of "Shell" printing is
- implemented in two phases. The first phase is when you install
- applications in Windows. As an option, applications my add
- information to a special Windows file called the "REGISTRATION
- DATABASE". The second phase is when you use the File Manager
- Associate command to associate a file extension with a program.
- Once this association is completed, Drag and Drop Printing can
- retrieve information about the application that is associated with
- the file and determine if the application can be run to print the
- file. If there is no program associated with the file , Drag and
- Drop Printing will just print the file as ASCII text.
-
- General Set Program Description
- Options
- The Set Program Description allows you to change the description of
- the program when it is running under Windows. There are two options
- for the program description:
