  21. ***********************  LAST MINUTE ADDITIONS  **********************
  22. v2.07 introduced a changing title bar, which shows the title of the button
  23. that the mouse is currently over.  This currently works only for buttons
  24. that aren't disabled - i.e. grey buttons don't have this property.
  25.  
  26. V2.01 introduced a new feature, the FILTER WIZARD, to facilitate the creation
  27. and understanding of FILTERS, which are needed to filter out unwanted
  28. clipboard data.  The Filter Wizard will activate itself when it 
  29. senses that a filter is needed, to deal with data coming from a 
  30. particular application.  It will list the formats currently available
  31. on the clipboard, explain a little about them, and let you select
  32. the ones you want.  Once the filter is created, the Wizard will no
  33. longer be invoked, in response to data coming from the application 
  34. that you just copied data from, but may be invoked by data coming 
  35. from other applications.  i.e. the Wizard won't pester you for ever.

  42. NOTE TO AUTO-GLUE and PowerPaste USERS:
  43.  
  44. If your application reports an error during an Auto-Glue or
  45. PowerPaste, then it is
  46. likely that your application and ClipMate are both going after the
  47. clipboard at the same time.  To overcome this, you need to create a
  48. filter for that application, and then use the ADVANCED OPTIONS dialog
  49. (accessed from the FILTER dialog) to initiate a small delay (100 ms)
  50. when copying the data.  This should ensure that your app is allowed to
  51. complete its clipboard operations, before ClipMate tries to update
  52. the clipboard.  This should not be necessary with applications that
  53. use the clipboard "by the book", but with some applications, including
  54. Word for Windows, you need to do this.

  58. To install ClipMate, just run the accompanying
  59. SETUP program from the Program Manager.
  60. (ex: FILE|RUN A: SETUP)

  62. If you already have the files on your hard drive, you can still use
  63. the SETUP program.  It is strongly recommended that ClipMate be
  64. placed in its own directory.
  65.  
  66. When the Setup program runs, it will create a ClipMate group,
  67. with the ClipMate icon, and icons for documentation.  If you 
  68. decide to move the ClipMate icon to another group, such as the
  69. STARTUP group, you can delete the ClipMate group.

  89. It is important that ClipMate be placed in its own
  90. directory.  When first run, ClipMate will create a
  91. \data directory.
  92.  
  93. You are encouraged to place ClipMate in your Startup Group,
  94. and to assign a hot-key to it.  The hot-key must be done
  95. through the Program Manager, but the group can be changed
  96. during installation.

  98. To assign a hot key (after installation), just click once 
  99. on the icon, and select File|Properties from the Program 
  100. Manager's File Menu.  In the Hotkey field, press a 
  101. key-combination, such as Ctrl+Alt+C.  
  102.  
  103. ClipMate 2.0 has many new features, such as support for 
  104. virtually all data types, such as Graphics, and OLE 
  105. objects.  Be sure to try the new PowerPaste feature!

  157. Installation:
  158. -------------
  159. Just run SETUP.EXE.  ClipMate will be installed,
  160. and the icon will be put in the program manager,
  161. in a new group called CLIPMATE.  It is suggested
  162. that you move this icon to your STARUP group.

  164. Manual Installation:
  165. -------------------
  166. To manually install ClipMate, just copy all of the
  167. Distribution Files to the directory of your
  168. choice.  It doesn't need to be in the path, and
  169. there are no funny environment variables to set.
  170. Create a directory, such as \clipmate, and put the
  171. files there.
  172.  
  173. Create an icon in the program manager with a
  174. Command Line that points to ClipMate.
  175.  
  176. For example:
  177. C:\clipmate\clipmate.exe
  178.  
  179. Effect on Your System:
  180. ----------------------
  181. The first time that you run ClipMate, it will
  182. create \windows\clipmate.ini.  WIN.INI is NOT 
  183. altered in any way, nor are any of your other
  184. system files.

  188. ClipMate will create and save the clipboard data
  189. into DEFAULT.CLM, or another .CLM file that you
  190. specify.

  193. De-Installation Notes:
  194. ----------------------
  195. These instructions are included in the event that you determine that
  196. ClipMate does not meet your needs, and therefore should be removed
  197. from your system. 
  198.  
  199. Before deleting ClipMate, you should review the contents of 
  200. the OVERVIEW screen in the on-line help.  If you have put ClipMate through
  201. a proper evaluation, then everything on that screen should be familiar to
  202. you.  If this is not the case, then you may want to spend some more time 
  203. evaluating ClipMate.  
  204.  
  205. In the event that you wish to remove ClipMate from your system, 
  206. erase the following files:

  232. VGA or better display.  Monchrome vga is ok.

  245. Norton Desktop for Windows users should upgrade to Norton Desktop 
  246. version 2.0.  
  247. Version 2.0 will work, if you make this change:
  248.   To make ClipMate (and most other programs compiled with a Borland
  249.   compiler) compatible with NDW v 2.0: make a change to the NDW.INI
  250.   file, which is found in the Windows directory.
  251.   In the [NHookSettings] section of NDW.INI, set Int21hHook=0.
  252.   Like this:

  255. There is sometimes a problem in conveting a clipmate data file from
  256. previous releases.  If you run into a General Protection Fault when
  257. converting an old file, you will need to delete, or rename the
  258. file.  If possible, send it to us, so that we can see what is
  259. causing the problem.

  265.   Fixed GPF in Print Setup, which occurred if you had lots of 
  266.     printer entries in WIN.INI, with long names.
  267.   Fixed Load On Demand to function properly with PowerPaste.  
  268.   In previous versions, items were not reloaded from disk properly
  269.   during power paste.

  272.   The Shareware registration information was missing from the help
  273.   file.  2.09a and 2.09 are functionally identical.

  276.   Removed Errant BEEP that 2.08 introduced....

  279.   Provided work-around for launching ClipMate with LOAD=, RUN= in the
  280.   WIN.INI.  The problem typically showed up as error messages, with funny
  281.   path names, such as C:\\data.  This is due to the fact that LOAD= and RUN=
  282.   don't set the current directory, when launching apps.  ClipMate was left
  283.   thinking that it was installed in the root directory.  The new 
  284.   "Home Directory" setting in the ClipMate.Ini can fix this:
  285.   for example:   [ClipMate]
  286.                  Home Directory=C:\CLIPMATE
  287.   This should fix the problem.  To make this easy, you'll be prompted upon
  288.   startup, if ClipMate isn't happy with the current directory.
  289.  
  290.   If you have experienced this situation, you need to delete your DEFAULT.CLM,
  291.   to enable this fix to be effective.  If you wish, you can just delete the
  292.   offending Clip Items.

  294. v2.07 (08/23/93)
  295.   Added titlebar hints - titlebar tells what each button is for, as
  296.     mouse travels over buttons.
  297.  
  298. v2.06 (08/19/93)
  299.   GPF - Word Search GPF, if it encountered a blank title.
  300.   Invalid Copy Warning - ClipMate now checks for data with zero
  301.     length.  It will inform you with a message box, as it occurs.
  302.     You should probably filter these formats out, unless this only
  303.     occurs during certain events, such as when opening the application.
  304.     Micrografix Draw does this sometimes, when opening files.
  305.     MS Access sometimes does this too, when copying Queries.  The Query
  306.     will be ok, but it will copy TEXT, with zero length.
  307.   Mag Window had a problem with automatically selecting a format
  308.     to display, if it didn't know how to display any of the 
  309.     available formats.  Now it will at least display the title
  310.     and stats of the item.

  313.   Added HINTS.TXT
  314.   GPF - Menu item for PRINT wasn't greyed-out, when no item selected.
  315.   GPF - when shutdown with no items left - fixed.
  316.   GPF - when glue aborted, try to copy to safe list - fixed.

  321.   Fixed conflict with AutoGlue - if you are copying data without
  322.     text in it, or if you were filtering out the TEXT component,
  323.     then ClipMate generates an error.  Prior to this release, the
  324.     error dialog could effectively freeze your system.

  326. v2.02 (08/04/93)
  327.   Fixed bug in "load on demand" logic, which prevented large
  328.     text items from re-loading, once the file was saved.  They would
  329.     fail to display in the Magnification and Thumbnail Windows.
  330.   Fixed bug with serial number.  They were being re-used, if Windows
  331.     happened to crash before ClipMate was properly shut down.  
  332.     Now, the serialization is synchronized with file saves.  
  333.     The problem existed in version 2.0, 2.1, and could lead to 
  334.     corrupt data files.  If you think you are experiencing problems
  335.     due to this, contact Thornton Software Solutions, and we'll 
  336.     help you work around the problem.  
  337.   Both of these bugs are corrected in this release.
