  12.   LAD is a strategy adventure game.  There is no fancy music (in fact, no
  13.   sounds at all until I can afford a sound card) and no fancy graphics
  14.   (I'm not much of an artist), so this would not get much attention at
  15.   a software store.  However, I think you'll find this to be a very 
  16.   involving game; I doubt you will not encounter a new situation even 
  17.   after playing the same dungeon twenty times.  If there is interest, 
  18.   I will make this into a commercial-quality game (as that is what I do 
  19.   for a living), but I wrote this for fun, and I much prefer working on 
  20.   the mechanics of the game, rather than its appearance (I will get some 
  21.   artist-friends to help me.)

  25.   This is the second release of LAD, with the second dungeon.  This version
  26.   of LAD will run the first dungeon, but you cannot run this second dungeon
  27.   on the first version of LAD.  You also cannot use characters from the
  28.   first version.  If you want to play the first (easier) dungeon and can
  29.   not find it where you found this, send an extra $3 to the above address
  30.   and you will be sent a disk.

  32.   This version fixes a few minor bugs (mainly when dealing with large 
  33.   amounts of gold), adds a number of new game features, new spells, a few
  34.   cosmetic changes, and more help.  One big change is that there is now an
  35.   extensive rating system when (or if) you complete the quest, and the top
  36.   ten scores are displayed in a logical order (sorry, the honor roll from
  37.   version 1.00 is ignored).  There are also now menu selections that
  38.   allow you to equip and unequip quickly.

  40.   This version is also a little more annoying until you have registered.
  41.   If you have registered the previous version you should not need to 
  42.   re-register.  Remember that your registration will ensure continuing
  43.   development, including the fabled dungeon construction kit.

  45. Installation:

  47.   The following installation will over-write the first dungeon, if it has
  48.   been previously installed.  Save all of the files that start with LADDATA
  49.   to save the first dungeon.

  51.   Sorry, no automated installation program has been included.  You should
  52.   create a directory for all LAD files, and copy them into it.  From
  53.   within Windows, click once on your "Games" window or icon, then select
  54.   "New" from the "File" menu.  Select "New Item", then click on "OK".
  55.   Click on "Browse", then use the file requester to find "LAD.EXE".
  56.   Double-click on "LAD.EXE".  Click on "OK", and the LAD icon should 
  57.   appear in your "Games" window.  Double-click on the "Lad" icon to start
  58.   the game.  On-line instructions are available from the "Help" menu.

  62.   LAD is not freely-distributable.  This version may be duplicated and
  63.   distributed on a not-for-profit basis only.  Registered non-profit
  64.   organizations (users groups, etc.) may include this program on low-cost
  65.   disks.  Other distributors of shareware software (including periodicals,
  66.   publications and clubs) must get permission from Mike Berro, which will
  67.   most likely be forthcoming in return for a copy of the disk and/or
  68.   periodical.  This program must not be posted on any for-profit BBS
  69.   without my permission, except CompuServe (where I can be reached
  70.   at 73267,3361).
