- Cubicle Office Space
-
- by Anat Grynberg
- and Greg Ward
-
- This office space was created soley as a demonstration that Radiance could
- be used effectively in a lighting design problem. There are three lighting
- designs represented in the Makefile. The first is called "bad", and is a
- uniform fixture distribution that results in some rather nasty shadows
- in many of the cubicles. The second is called "good", and represents a
- redesign of the lighting arrangement that resulted in improved uniformity
- in the cubicles and over 40% reduction in the lighting load. The final
- design was dubbed "best", and adds to the good design task lights at
- each desk to bring the lighting levels up even further.
-
- Thanks goes also to Francis Rubinstein and Michael Siminovitch, both of
- whom suggested design alternatives and made the appropriate calculations.
-
- There are many bizarre calculations included in the Makefile which you
- may or may not be interested in. They were used to produce plots,
- among other things, and may not even work anymore -- I don't know.
