-
- Dots is a very special-purpose procedural background image
- generator that plots 5 layers of antialiased colored dots in a
- random pattern. It's used as a layer inside video post to create
- interesting dithered/stippled/speckled patterns, backgrounds, and
- texture maps of any resolution.
-
- Dots is used like any other IXP in Video Post; it is added to the
- image queue, and its options are accessed through the Setup
- button in the Queue Item dialog box. Dots does not directly
- affect queue items above it, but since it produces full-screen
- backgrounds, it'll over-write any images that are above it in the
- queue. For this reason, Dots should always be placed at the top
- (beginning) of the queue, and used as a background.
-
- The settings for Dots are:
-
- Color1...Color5 These five buttons allow access to the
- color picker to set the color of each of
- the five layers of dots. Click on it,
- and the standard 3DS color picker
- appears.
-
- Layer 1 is the backmost layer, and Layer
- 5 is the frontmost layer.
-
- Size: This slider provides for variable dot
- sizes from 1-40 pixels in diameter
- within each of the five layers. The
- larger the dot size, the longer the
- program will take to create the dots.
-
- Percent: This slider provides for 0-100 percent
- dot coverage within each of the five
- layers. The greater the dot coverage,
- the longer the program will take to
- create the dots.
-
-
- The normal usage of Dots (so all 5 layers are visible) is to put
- larger dots with more coverage towards in the back, and smaller
- dots with less coverage in the front.
-
- (Note: When used with dot colors of similar value, it can be
- used to create textured-paper backgrounds and texture maps.)
