  4. This ZIP of PGP [Pretty Good Privacy] 2.3a contains the source material
  5. for PGP 2.3a in its entirety.

  7. The original source archive was in the old ZIP format. You will require 
  8. PKZIP 2.0+ to unpack it. The original archive was also packed with
  9. sub-directories too numerous to allow virus SCAN checking within the
  10. current version of SHEZ [91].

  12. All of the files in this archive have been repacked with PKZIP 2.04g
  13. and all files previously contained in directory paths have been re-
  14. organized into separate archives for each previous sub-directory by
  15. class.
  16.  
  17. Those files previously contained in the path DOC\ are now inside the
  18. PGPDOC23.ZIP. Those previously contained in the path CONTRIB\ are now
  19. inside PGPCTB23.ZIP. PGPCTB23.ZIP also contains its own batch of sub-
  20. archives. Those previously contained in the path SRC\ are now inside 
  21. PGPSRC23.ZIP.

  23. It was necessary to make these separate since several filenames are
  24. not unique and would overwrite the previous versions. Each sub-archive
  25. should be dumped into its own directory to avoid overwriting the READMEs
  26. which duplicate filename but not content. [sigh]

  28. ALL of the files contained in the original, un-AVed archive are contained
  29. in this one and its sub-archives.

  31. This archive was converted at Rights On! in Titusville_FL_USA, FidoNet
  32. Node 1:374/14, by Christopher Baker, headwaters of the PUBKEYS File
  33. distribution system on 30 Jul 93. It was redated to match the filedates
  34. of 2.3a to avoid confusion when folks look at the filedate on other
  35. systems. If you have obtained this archive from this system, directly, 
  36. you may regard the contents as complete and as secure as they were when 
  37. they were repacked from the original archive.

  39. If you suspect this archive has been tampered with, please obtain a direct
  40. copy from this system by file-request through FidoNet or direct download.
  41. The filename for file-request is PGPSRC or PGP23ASR.ZIP. File-requests are
  42. honored anytime EXCEPT 0100-0130 ET and Zone 1 ZMH [0900-1000 UTC] at 
  43. 1200-9600+ HST/V32.

  45. The main program file is available as PGP or PGP23A.ZIP. Both are available
  46. as PGPALL which may also include any other platform versions available.
