  15. The self extracting file CANNOT unarchive to the disk it came on as there is
  16.   no room and you will get a 'Write Error'!

  18. The MEGAHOST.DOC file can be printed on most Laser printers by setting the
  19.   lines per page to 66.

  23. Sample RIP, NAPLPS, and BIG Graphics screens are available for download
  24. from the MEGAHOST Support BBS at 209-836-2402.  Also, a module enabling
  25. various flavors of Xmodem, Ymodem, Zmodem, and Kermit file transfers is
  26. available for download at no additional cost.

  30.           ENTERING SYSOP INFORMATION
  31.           ──────────────────────────

  33.           You MUST first set up a SYSOP= entry in the .CNF BEFORE INVOKING
  34.           MEGAHOST.  The system will not function properly without this
  35.           entry.  The syntax is:
  36.  
  37.           SYSOP=DON MANKIN
  38.  
  39.           where DON MANKIN is replaced with your own name.
  40.  
  41.           NOTE:
  42.  
  43.              If you wish to run a closed system, you must have
  44.              CLOSEDSYSTEM=N in the .CNF file when you log in as SysOp for
  45.              the first time.   After MEGAHOST establishes your SysOp account
  46.              in the caller database, you may then make the CLOSEDSYSTEM=Y
  47.              entry in the .CNF file.

  51. If you have trouble with MEGAHOST, try removing any memory resident software
  52. you may have loaded.  MEGAHOST is known to have trouble with DOS editors.
  53.  
  54. Enabling Xon/Xoff flow control within MEGAHOST sometimes confuses your
  55.  callers not familiar with it's usage.  If enabled, and some line noise sends
  56.  a CTL-S (19 decimal), the callers terminal will freeze until a CTL-Q
  57.  (17 decimal) is received from the caller.  If the caller is unaware of this
  58.  technique, he/she will eventually hang up and complain of BBS troubles.

  61. MEGAHOST REQUIRES character and line pacing on ASCII uploads and auto-logons.
  62. This is accomplished using Procomm by typing ALT S, 6, and changing the
  63. following:
  64.                 Pace Character = 62
  65.                 Character Pacing = 50
  66.                 Line Pacing = 5
  67.  
  68. Other terminal software must be configured likewise.
  69.

  72.   Utilities written to convert MAXIHOST database files to MEGAHOST database
  73.   files are available from the Support BBS.  You should convert the Message
  74.   database if you had it enabled in MAXIHOST, but I would not convert the
  75.   user database.  The best way to assure that all of the user fields are
  76.   populated is to allow MEGAHOST to create the user database itself.

  78.   A file transfer module, MHXFR.EXE, is available for download from the
  79.   Support BBS.  It provides Xmodem, Ymodem, Zmodem, and Kermit file
  80.   transfer protocols.  Put this file in the same directory(ies) as your
  81.   MEGAHOST.EXE file(s).  This module is not bundled with the MEGAHOST
  82.   software but is available at no cost.

  84.   *** Regarding file transfer, high speed modems should have hardware flow
  85.   control enabled especially when the baud rate is locked.  Callers failing
  86.   to do this may have VERY SLOW file transfers due to block resends. ***

  88.   A program, MEGA_API.EXE is available for EXPERIENCED MEGAHOST users to
  89.   enable them to be able to add/change .CNF entries, display text files,
  90.   disconnect the caller, etc. from BATCHON, BATCHOFF, TRAPDOOR, and EVENT
  91.   batch files.  Use of this interface is on your own initiative.  Minimum
  92.   support will be provided. Improper use of this facility could compromise
  93.   the security of the system.  These features are being tested to see if
  94.   they provide any real value, and may be removed from future releases if
  95.   they prove too complex for the average user and/or support of them become
  96.   too time consuming.

  100. REGISTERED USERS:  Make sure you call the MEGAHOST support BBS occasionally
  101. to keep abreast of new versions and updates.  The number is currently
  102. 209-836-2402.  I'm Sorry, but I do not have the resources to answer phone
  103. calls, nor return mail.  Please use this BBS as our communications vehicle.

  105. Because MEGAHOST is a 'shop before you buy' Shareware product, most
  106. registrants already have a copy of MEGAHOST.  For this reason, diskettes
  107. are not mailed out immediately, but are mailed out with the next release.
  108. Releases vary but usually occur every month or two.  You may request a
  109. current release diskette be mailed instead by leaving a message on the
  110. Support BBS.  You may also request a REGISTRATION number to suffice you
  111. until you receive your diskette.   The registration information would be
  112. entered into your MEGAHOST.CNF as follows:

  116. where 32541 is the registration number provided by me that matches your
  117. registration name of 'MEGAHOST Support BBS'.

  123.     If used for personal use,  a Hobby registration  is necessary.  Use by
  124.     any organization  for any purpose would  be classified as a Commercial
  125.     registration.  Hobby  registrations  are  $49  USD,  while  Commercial
  126.     registrations  are $79,  still a good bargain.  Only VISA,  MasterCard
  127.     Diners Club,  Carte Blanche,  and JCB cards  can be  accepted  via the
  128.     Support BBS - the prefered  method.  You may also register using  your 
  129.     AMEX and  Discover  Card by  calling PSL at 800-242-4775 and  refering
  130.     to  item #10391.  Diskettes are not  normally  mailed out  until a new
  131.     release is made  available.  You may request a registration  number be
  132.     left to you via this system, and/or that the current release be mailed
  133.     instead of waiting for the next one.

  161.  For those  upgrading from  MAXIHOST,  please  read  the MAXIHOST to MEGAHOST
  162.  upgrade information contained in the .DOC file.  You will find your MAXIHOST
  163.  registration number is incompatable  with MEGAHOST so make sure you call the
  164.  Support BBS for your new number.  Execute menu item 2 from the
  165.  (+)-Registration module.
