  2.           The Alpha and OmegaWare Setup Program
  3.  
  4.      The Setup Program is a utility designed to make
  5. installation easy. Users of CisNodes version 1.0 installing a
  6. newer version of CisNodes should delete the directory and its
  7. contents, as well as any group or icon created in association
  8. with this previous version, prior to running the setup program.
  9. The setup program will copy files from a source to a destination
  10. drive and directory. It will also create a group and the icons
  11. automatically. Below are specific instructions necessary for your
  12. type of setup. Also, on line Help is available in Setup.

  14. From Compressed File
  15.      Your compressed file should be copied to a directory on the
  16. hard drive and decompressed. If necessary, refer to your
  17. compression/decompression manual for these instructions. Next,
  18. you may choose to copy all the files except the compressed file
  19. to a floppy disk, to make installation and re-installation
  20. easier. If installing from this copied disk, you can delete all
  21. the files in this directory and the directory itself, and follow
  22. "From Distribution Diskette" instructions in next section.
  23.      If you have not copied these files to a floppy diskette,
  24. start up Windows and pick FILE|RUN from the Program Manager's
  25. menu. Type in the [fullpath] to the Setup Program. For
  26. instance, if you just unpacked the compressed file in a directory
  27. called C:\TEMP, you would type ["C:\TEMP\SETUP"] and press
  28. {Enter}. The program will then prompt you to:
  29.      a) Use the FROM Entry Box to enter the [path] where the
  30.         source files exist.  Example: C:\TEMP
  31.      b) Use the TO Entry Box to enter the [path] to the
  32.         destination directory where the files will reside, that
  33.         is, where you would like to run this product from. (Note:
  34.         The destination directory must not exist prior to running
  35.         the Setup program.)  Example: C:\ALPHA
  36.      c) Choose OK upon receiving the "Complete" message to
  37.         finalize setup procedure.

  40. From Distribution Diskette
  41.      Start up Windows, insert the distribution diskette in your
  42. floppy drive, and pick FILE|RUN. Type in the [drive letter][":
  43. SETUP"]. For instance, if your distribution diskette is in drive
  44. A, you would type A:SETUP and press {Enter}. The program will
  45. then prompt you to:
  46.      a) Use the FROM Entry Box to enter a [path] where the
  47.         source files exist.  Example: A:
  48.      b) Use the TO Entry Box to enter the [path] to the
  49.         destination directory where the files will reside,
  50.         that is, where you would like to run this product from.
  51.         (Note: The destination directory must not exist prior to
  52.         running the Setup program.)  Example: C:\ALPHA
  53.      c) Choose OK upon receiving the "Complete" message to
  54.         finalize setup procedure.

  57. Troubleshooting
  58.      If you have trouble using the Setup Program, you may choose
  59. to manually install this product. For manual install
  60. instructions, you must decompress your product's manual. If
  61. dealing with a distribution diskette, you must create a directory
  62. of your choice on your hard drive. At the DOS prompt, type:
  63. [drive][":\EXPAND"] [sourcefile.ext] [destinationfile.ext]
  64. {Enter}. Example: If the directory you created on the hard drive
  65. is C:\TEMP, and you're dealing with a distribution diskette that
  66. is in Drive A, the command would be A:\EXPAND A:\MANUAL.DO_
  67. C:\TEMP\MANUAL.DOC. Now your manual is decompressed and ready for
  68. viewing on the screen. Advance to the "Manual Install" section to
  69. continue installing this product.
