  5. The \_bbs\opus directory contains the tools that created the
  6. files.bbs file in each subdirectory.  These should be usable with
  7. Remote Access / TubFile / Opus / QuickBbs / Superbbs.

  9. Maximus

  11. \_bbs\maxtool contains a utility to copy the files.bbs files to one
  12. directory on your hard disk and create the hcdareas.ctl file that
  13. points to the index files.  A prebuilt control file is in this
  14. directory.  Thanks to Koos van den Hout.

  16. PC Board

  18. The \_bbs\pcbtool directory contains the tools used to create the
  19. \_bbs\pcb dir??? files.  It also has a utility to create the global
  20. index file.  Please make backups on your configuration.

  24. The \_bbs\rbbstool directory has some tools and hints for installing
  25. the cdrom on a RBBS board.  The file listings are in \_bbs\rbbs.

  30. The \_bbs\sftool directory has some tools and hints for installing
  31. the cdrom on a spitfire BBS.  The file listings are in \_bbs\sf.

  35. The \_bbs\rover directory has instructions for converting the
  36. \_bbs\pcboard\*.dir files to rOver board format.

  38. Wildcat

  40. \_bbs\wc30 contains a setup program for wildcat, version 3.55.  this
  41. is the commercial version, not the shareware version.  This works
  42. with versions up to and including 3.90.

  46. If you want to show me what your bbs requires for a directory area
  47. display similar to the rbbs display, please send me the exact
  48. specifications.

  50. I produced these with the program "makemenu" in \_bbs.  This produces
  51. a double column listing of the area descriptions based on
  52. \_bbs\dirs.txt.  There are three versions of the directory menu, a
  53. plain version (dir.dir), a IBM high-bit version (dirg.dir), and an
  54. ANSI color version (dirc.dir).

  57. A lot of these programs use DOS redirection.  This allows a program
  58. that prints to "standard out" to `redirect' its output to a file or
  59. another program.  If it sends it to another program it goes through a
  60. `pipe'.  For example,

  62. makemenu > out

  64. sends the output of the makemenu program into a file called out.
  65.  
  66. If I wanted to sort the output of the makemenu command and display it
  67. to the screen, I'd type
  68.  
  69. makemenu | sort
  70.  
  71. If I wanted to sort it and sent it to a file, I'd type
  72.  
  73. makemenu | sort > out

  75. Most of the batch files use redirection.  My utilites write to
  76. standard out so they can be redirected to a file or piped through
  77. another program accepts standard in as input.
