- THE SOFT PERIOD (Ctrl Period)
-
- Press Ctrl. (i.e., Ctrl+period key). The character · may be used in
- PC-TYPE+ files in place of the period to keep from inserting two
- blanks between a period and the next word. Normally you want two
- spaces at the end of a sentence, and the Alt2 Toggle provides you with
- this capability. However, you do not want two spaces between the
- period in Mr. and the S in Smith.
-
- If you type Mr· Smith, when you reformat this paragraph, an extra
- space WILL NOT be inserted after the · . The Print Character
- Translation Table, a sub-panel of the MODIFY DEFAULTS panel, has been
- set up so that when you print your PC-TYPE+ file, the "·" character
- will be replaced by the "." (normal period) before sending it to the
- printer.
-
-
- Press the PgDn Key
-
- THE HARD SPACE (Ctrl Space Bar)
-
- Hold down the Ctrl Key and press the Space Bar. The character is
- interpreted by PC-TYPE+ to be a Hard Space. Normally when you
- reformat a paragraph, you want the breaks to be as natural as
- possible. Sometimes, however, you may not want to words to be split.
- By placing a Hard Space between these two words, e.g., LIKETHIS, when
- you reformat the paragraph, PC-TYPE+ will treat "LIKETHIS" as one
- word and hence they will always remain together.

- The Print Character Translation Table, a sub-panel of the MODIFY
- DEFAULTS panel, has been set up so that when you print your PC-TYPE+
- file, the "" character will be replaced by the " " (normal space)
- before sending it to the printer.
