- All 6 types of moves are heavily used depending upon the situation.
- However, AltM with AltL blocking is probably the most common.
-
- When an area is moved, the original marked area is deleted. With
- CtrlM with CtrlB marking, (overlay move), the original marked area
- is blanked out instead of being deleted to preserve column integrity.

- We will give an example of each type of move below. Be sure to follow
- the instructions for the examples closely.

- Press the PgDn Key

- STANDARD PARAGRAPH MOVE (AltL AltL AltM)

- Move the cursor to THIS line and press AltL.
- Then move the cursor to THIS line and press AltL again.
- Now move the cursor HERE and press AltM.

- That's all there is to moving lines and paragraphs.

- STANDARD SENTENCE MOVE (CtrlL CtrlL AltM)

- Move the cursor to the 'T' at the beginning of the next sentence and
- press CtrlL. This is the sentence you will be moving to a new
- location. Now move the cursor to the '.' at the end of the same
- sentence and press CtrlL again. Finally, move the cursor to the
- asterisk below, and press AltM. You have just moved a sentence.

- COLUMN MOVE (CtrlB CtrlB AltM)

- Move the cursor to each asterisk above and press CtrlB. Now move the
- cursor to the "$" and press AltM. You have just made a column move.
- See if you can replace the column to where it was initially.

- When you perform this type of move, you may move the block wherever
- you wish - up, down, etc. It is particularly handy if you want to
- put two columns of text per page. Simply type the document in a
- narrow column, open up your margins, and then cut and paste.

- Press the PgDn Key

- PARAGRAPH INSERT (AltL AltL CtrlM)

- Move the cursor to THIS line and press AltL.
- Then move the cursor to THIS line and press AltL again.

- Now move the cursor to the 'x' (x) and press CtrlM.

- You have now moved the marked paragraph to the middle of a line which
- has been split at the cursor. A simple reformat will close the gaps.
- Press CtrlR and then press any key just to see it happen.

- Press the PgDn Key

- SENTENCE INSERT (CtrlL CtrlL CtrlM)

- Move the cursor to the 'M' at the beginning of this line and press
- CtrlL. Now move the cursor to the period at the left and press CtrlL
- again.

- Now move the cursor to the 'x' (x) and press CtrlM.

- You have now moved the marked sentence to the middle of a line which
- has been split at the cursor. A simple reformat will close the gaps.
- Press CtrlR to see the reformat take place.

- Press the PgDn Key

- Column (or Block) Overlay (CtrlB CtrlB CtrlM)

- Move the cursor to the upper left corner of the box below and press
- CtrlB. Now move the cursor to the lower right corner of the box below
- and press CtrlB again. Now move the cursor to the 'X' inside the box
- and press CtrlM.

- ┌─────────────┐ As you can see, CtrlM with blocked
- │ │ marking produces a straightforward
- │ X │ overlay result. With this type of
- │ │ move, columns are not shifted
