- HELP
-
- PC-TYPE+ supports three different levels of HELP.
-
- LEVEL 1 - the HELP key - F1
-
- This level allows you to browse through the different HELP panels to
- find out how to perform a specific function. The Esc Key will always
- return you to the editing session and F1 will always place you back at
- the main HELP menu. By pressing the keys "a" through "n", you can
- move from HELP panel to HELP panel.
-
- All of these HELP screens are within PC-TYPE+ itself, so you need not
- worry about carrying around extra files.
-
- Press F1 - then a,b,c... and finally the Esc key to get a feel for
- this level of HELP.
-
- Press the PgDn Key
-
- LEVEL 2 - the Function Group keys F7 and F8
-
- While HELP Level 1 is for information only, LEVEL 2 will let you
- perform the function you are looking for. However, not all functions
- are available at this level.
-
- As with Level 1, the Esc key will return you to your editing session.
-
- When you press F7, you may either press the indicated function key to
- perform the desired operation, or, if the second column contains a key
- specification, then you may alternatively press that key
- specification. That second column contains the actual keystroke you
- could have used in your text area without going to F7. (F1 F2 and F3
- in the F7 menu will bring up additional help menus from which to
- select more options.
-
- Again, this information is within PC-TYPE+ itself.
-
- Press the PgDn Key
-
- LEVEL 3 - the HELP COMMAND
-
- You are currently in the third level of HELP, so if you got to here it
- needs little discussion. This level of help requires that the HELP
- files provided on your distribution disk be available for access.
-
- You may get to this Level of HELP by placing the cursor on the Command
- Line, typing help and pressing enter. You will then be requested to
- enter the path specification of where your HELP files are located if
- they cannot be found. PC-TYPE+ will make a list of these files and
- present them in menu form from which you may select the desired
- subject by moving the Help Selection Bar by pressing the TAB key (or
- Shift TAB key to move in the reverse direction) and then pressing F10.
-
- When you initially enter PC-TYPE+, you may use the parameter /HELP if
- you wish and this menu will be made available immediately - e.g.,
-
- A>PCTYPE filespec /HELP
- Press the PgDn Key
-
- HELP EXAMPLE
-
- Suppose you want to find out how to change the default BOX definition
- to get a double-lined box instead of a single-lined box.
-
- LEVEL 1 - Press F1 and peruse the menu. As you can see, selection
- "j", Character Graphics Commands is a good candidate. Press
- "j" from the main HELP menu and you will see that Alt# is
- for BOX Character definition. Then press Esc and you may
- press Alt# to redefine your BOX lines. (Try it.)
-
- LEVEL 2 - Press F7, (Blocking Functions) and you will see that F3 says
- "Char Graphics". Press F3 and you see that F1 or Alt# may
- be pressed for "Define Box". (Try it.)
-
- LEVEL 3 - By perusing the INFO file in this mode you will see the line
- "spcl_chr Using CHARACTER GRAPHICS." BOX is defined there.
-
- Press F4 to Return to the HELP Menu
