  1.                                      HELP
  2.  
  3.     PC-TYPE+ supports three different levels of HELP.
  4.  
  5.     LEVEL 1 - the HELP key - F1
  6.  
  7.     This level allows you to browse through the different HELP panels to
  8.     find out how to perform a specific function.  The Esc Key will always
  9.     return you to the editing session and F1 will always place you back at
  10.     the main HELP menu.  By pressing the keys "a" through "n", you can
  11.     move from HELP panel to HELP panel.
  12.  
  13.     All of these HELP screens are within PC-TYPE+ itself, so you need not
  14.     worry about carrying around extra files.
  15.  
  16.     Press F1 - then a,b,c...  and finally the Esc key to get a feel for
  17.     this level of HELP.
  18.  
  19.                               Press the PgDn Key
  20.  
  21.     LEVEL 2 - the Function Group keys F7 and F8
  22.  
  23.     While HELP Level 1 is for information only, LEVEL 2 will let you
  24.     perform the function you are looking for.  However, not all functions
  25.     are available at this level.

  27.     As with Level 1, the Esc key will return you to your editing session.
  28.  
  29.     When you press F7, you may either press the indicated function key to
  30.     perform the desired operation, or, if the second column contains a key
  31.     specification, then you may alternatively press that key
  32.     specification.  That second column contains the actual keystroke you
  33.     could have used in your text area without going to F7.  (F1 F2 and F3
  34.     in the F7 menu will bring up additional help menus from which to
  35.     select more options.

  37.     Again, this information is within PC-TYPE+ itself.

  39.                               Press the PgDn Key
  40.  
  41.     LEVEL 3 - the HELP COMMAND
  42.  
  43.     You are currently in the third level of HELP, so if you got to here it
  44.     needs little discussion.  This level of help requires that the HELP
  45.     files provided on your distribution disk be available for access.
  46.  
  47.     You may get to this Level of HELP by placing the cursor on the Command
  48.     Line, typing help and pressing enter.  You will then be requested to
  49.     enter the path specification of where your HELP files are located if
  50.     they cannot be found.  PC-TYPE+ will make a list of these files and
  51.     present them in menu form from which you may select the desired
  52.     subject by moving the Help Selection Bar by pressing the TAB key (or
  53.     Shift TAB key to move in the reverse direction) and then pressing F10.

  55.     When you initially enter PC-TYPE+, you may use the parameter /HELP if
  56.     you wish and this menu will be made available immediately - e.g.,
  57.  
  58.     A>PCTYPE filespec /HELP
  59.                               Press the PgDn Key

  61.                                  HELP EXAMPLE

  63.     Suppose you want to find out how to change the default BOX definition
  64.     to get a double-lined box instead of a single-lined box.
  65.  
  66.     LEVEL 1 - Press F1 and peruse the menu.  As you can see, selection
  67.               "j", Character Graphics Commands is a good candidate.  Press
  68.               "j" from the main HELP menu and you will see that Alt# is
  69.               for BOX Character definition.  Then press Esc and you may
  70.               press Alt# to redefine your BOX lines.  (Try it.)

  72.     LEVEL 2 - Press F7, (Blocking Functions) and you will see that F3 says
  73.               "Char Graphics".  Press F3 and you see that F1 or Alt# may
  74.               be pressed for "Define Box".  (Try it.)
  75.  
  76.     LEVEL 3 - By perusing the INFO file in this mode you will see the line
  77.               "spcl_chr  Using CHARACTER GRAPHICS."  BOX is defined there.

  79.                      Press F4 to Return to the HELP Menu
