  1.                                  FOOTER LINES

  22.                              DEFAULT FOOTER LINES

  24.     Once you define the number of lines in the footer area, you may enter
  25.     information in a default "footer file" saved in the defaults area of
  26.     PC-TYPE+ or in a defaults file.  When you print a file inside
  27.     PC-TYPE+, the number of header and footer lines will always be printed
  28.     at the top and bottom of each printed page, but the contents of the
  29.     Header and Footer "files" may or may not be printed based upon your
  30.     setting of a parameter in the Print Options Panel.

  32.     Look toward the bottom of the Print Options Panel for the field
  33.     labelled "Headers/Footers:".  If this is turned ON, the contents of
  34.     the Header and Footer "files" will be printed in the Header and Footer
  35.     area on each page.  If it is turned OFF, then blank lines will be
  36.     printed instead.  Press Shift F3 and look for this field.

  41.                        SETTING THE DEFAULT FOOTER LINES

  43.     When you go to the MODIFY DEFAULTS panel by pressing F8 and then F2,
  44.     you will see a field labelled "Vertical Print Page Format".  If you
  45.     tab to this field and press F10, you will see that you will enter a
  46.     sub-panel in which you can define the number of lines per page, and
  47.     the number of lines in the header and footer areas of each page.

  49.     If you CHANGE the number of FOOTER lines and then press F10 to accept
  50.     the change, you will not return immediately to the MODIFY DEFAULTS
  51.     panel, but will be placed in a new file called "FOOTERS".

  53.     Once inside this file you may type any information you desire to be
  54.     printed at the bottom of each page.  If you type a "%" character, the
  55.     current page number will be printed at that location when your file is
  56.     being printed and the Headers/Footers option is turned on.  Try this
  57.     procedure.

  61.                            EDITING THE FOOTER DATA

  63.     When you enter the FOOTERS file in the manner described above, you
  64.     CANNOT get out until you "SAVE" the FOOTERS file by pressing F9.  You
  65.     also will not be allowed to "SAVE" the file until you have EXACTLY the
  66.     number of lines in the file which you specified in the Vertical Print
  67.     Page Format panel.

  69.     You may also edit the FOOTER data without changing the defined number
  70.     of FOOTER lines in the Vertical Print Page Format panel.  To do this,
  71.     go to the MODIFY DEFAULTS panel (F8 then F2) and TAB to the field
  72.     labelled "Default Footer Definition".  Once you move the Option
  73.     Selection Bar to this field, press F10, and you will again be inside
  74.     the "FOOTER" file.  In this entry mode, however, you will be allowed
  75.     to QUIT with F4.

  77.     Nearly all options normally available in PC-TYPE+ are available when
  78.     editing the FOOTER file.

  81.                    CHANGING THE FOOTER TEXT WHILE PRINTING

  83.     It is quite likely that you may not want the same default FOOTER text
  84.     material to be printed on every page of your document.  You may
  85.     dynamically modify the FOOTER data by including the two Special Lines
  86.     shown below IN YOUR TEXT.  To get these Special Lines, Press F8, (the
  87.     Miscellaneous Functions key), then press F7 (Special Lines), and then
  88.     press F6 (New Footer Defn.) - and the two lines below will be inserted
  89.     into your text.

  91.     By adding information between these lines, you will override the
  92.     default FOOTER data.  Delete the two lines below and then press
  93.     F8/F7/F6 and see how to bring them into your text.

  101.     This new Footer definition will become effective the next time a
  102.     Footer is printed.

  104.     If you enter more footer lines than were defined in the Vertical Print
  105.     Page Format, the extra lines will be dropped from the end of your new
  106.     definition and the entire Default Footer definition will be
  107.     overwritten.

  109.     If you enter fewer Footer lines than were defined in the Vertical
  110.     Print Page Format, the new Footer lines will replace the same number
  111.     of Footer lines at the beginning of the Default Footer "file".

  113.     If you press Ctrl? to see where you are currently in the text, the
  114.     Begin and End Footer Def. lines and all the lines in between WILL NOT
  115.     be included in the page and line determination.
