- DEFAULT FOOTER LINES
-
- Once you define the number of lines in the footer area, you may enter
- information in a default "footer file" saved in the defaults area of
- PC-TYPE+ or in a defaults file. When you print a file inside
- PC-TYPE+, the number of header and footer lines will always be printed
- at the top and bottom of each printed page, but the contents of the
- Header and Footer "files" may or may not be printed based upon your
- setting of a parameter in the Print Options Panel.
-
- Look toward the bottom of the Print Options Panel for the field
- labelled "Headers/Footers:". If this is turned ON, the contents of
- the Header and Footer "files" will be printed in the Header and Footer
- area on each page. If it is turned OFF, then blank lines will be
- printed instead. Press Shift F3 and look for this field.
-
-
- Press the PgDn Key
-
- SETTING THE DEFAULT FOOTER LINES
-
- When you go to the MODIFY DEFAULTS panel by pressing F8 and then F2,
- you will see a field labelled "Vertical Print Page Format". If you
- tab to this field and press F10, you will see that you will enter a
- sub-panel in which you can define the number of lines per page, and
- the number of lines in the header and footer areas of each page.
-
- If you CHANGE the number of FOOTER lines and then press F10 to accept
- the change, you will not return immediately to the MODIFY DEFAULTS
- panel, but will be placed in a new file called "FOOTERS".
-
- Once inside this file you may type any information you desire to be
- printed at the bottom of each page. If you type a "%" character, the
- current page number will be printed at that location when your file is
- being printed and the Headers/Footers option is turned on. Try this
- procedure.
-
- Press the PgDn Key
-
- EDITING THE FOOTER DATA
-
- When you enter the FOOTERS file in the manner described above, you
- CANNOT get out until you "SAVE" the FOOTERS file by pressing F9. You
- also will not be allowed to "SAVE" the file until you have EXACTLY the
- number of lines in the file which you specified in the Vertical Print
- Page Format panel.
-
- You may also edit the FOOTER data without changing the defined number
- of FOOTER lines in the Vertical Print Page Format panel. To do this,
- go to the MODIFY DEFAULTS panel (F8 then F2) and TAB to the field
- labelled "Default Footer Definition". Once you move the Option
- Selection Bar to this field, press F10, and you will again be inside
- the "FOOTER" file. In this entry mode, however, you will be allowed
- to QUIT with F4.
-
- Nearly all options normally available in PC-TYPE+ are available when
- editing the FOOTER file.
- Press the PgDn Key
-
- CHANGING THE FOOTER TEXT WHILE PRINTING
-
- It is quite likely that you may not want the same default FOOTER text
- material to be printed on every page of your document. You may
- dynamically modify the FOOTER data by including the two Special Lines
- shown below IN YOUR TEXT. To get these Special Lines, Press F8, (the
- Miscellaneous Functions key), then press F7 (Special Lines), and then
- press F6 (New Footer Defn.) - and the two lines below will be inserted
- into your text.
-
- By adding information between these lines, you will override the
- default FOOTER data. Delete the two lines below and then press
- F8/F7/F6 and see how to bring them into your text.
-

- Press the PgDn Key
-
- CHANGING THE FOOTER TEXT WHILE PRINTING (cont.)
-
- This new Footer definition will become effective the next time a
- Footer is printed.
-
- If you enter more footer lines than were defined in the Vertical Print
- Page Format, the extra lines will be dropped from the end of your new
- definition and the entire Default Footer definition will be
- overwritten.
-
- If you enter fewer Footer lines than were defined in the Vertical
- Print Page Format, the new Footer lines will replace the same number
- of Footer lines at the beginning of the Default Footer "file".
-
- If you press Ctrl? to see where you are currently in the text, the
- Begin and End Footer Def. lines and all the lines in between WILL NOT
- be included in the page and line determination.
-
- Press F4 to Return to the HELP Panel
