Welcome to Windows Messaging and the world of e-mail. E-mail provides a fast and efficient way of communicating with others. There are many different kinds of e-mail systems. You can use Windows Messaging with these systems as a universal Inbox to:
Send mail using a modem to an online service, such as The Microsoft Network.
Connect to your company's e-mail server, such as Microsoft Mail Server.
When you start Windows Messaging, you see your mail in the Inbox. New mail is delivered to your Inbox and remains there until you delete it or move it to another folder.
Sending a Message
To send a message, click New Message on the Compose menu.
You must provide the correct e-mail address for your recipient. Different e-mail systems use different addressing formats.
An example of an Internet address is:
jane_smith@youraddress.com
After typing a message, click Send on the File menu.
Delivering Your Mail
Messages are placed in the Outbox folder until they are delivered. If you connect to your e-mail system with a modem, you may have to click Deliver Now on the Tools menu to deliver your messages and receive incoming messages.
Replying to a Message
To reply to a message you have received, just click Reply To Sender on the Compose menu. The address of the sender is automatically used to return your reply.
