  5. If you have any problems with our Fonts please give us a call or E mail us. We
  6. have a few solutions for problems associated with Truetype Fonts.
  7.  
  8. Sending in your registration form allows us to give you free tech support.
  9. Without registering your CD, we do not know who you are or what type of computer
  10. you have. You can E-MAIL us your registration form or you can also Fax us your
  11. registration form.

  13. Send In the Registration form found on the CD-ROM in the Root "Register.txt"

  15. Thank you for Purchasing "4000 Fonts". This CD-ROM Contains 4000 Fonts in
  16. Truetype, and Type 1 formats. The TrueType and Type 1 fonts match 1 for 1. If
  17. there is a Truetype Font on the CD-ROM, then there is a Type 1 font with the
  18. same name. This is for compatibility, for people that use Service Bureaus, or
  19. for people who use Type 1 on one computer and Truetype on another computer. All
  20. the fonts were fully tested using 4 major Windows Applications to ensure they
  21. print at large resolutions and that they do not crash your computer. If you
  22. have any problems with any of the fonts on our CD, we want to know. Our company
  23. wants to ensure that you, the customer, receive the highest quality fonts
  24. available.

  26. Organization of Fonts on the CD-ROM
  27.  
  28. Instead of just throwing fonts together as a collection, we have spent months
  29. sorting and categorizing our fonts to make it easier for you to find just the
  30. font you need for a job. If you are looking for a script font, you no longer
  31. have to go through all the fonts to find a font you need. This also made it
  32. easier for us to make sure there is no duplicated on the CD-ROM. We have made
  33. from scratch many of the fonts found on this CD-ROM and have added some really
  34. wild new types of fonts that you will not find anywhere else. How many more
  35. "basic" fonts does a person need?

  37. How to make sense of the Filenames on the CD-ROM.
  38.  
  39. We have designed a proprietary filing system to make font file names match with
  40. the font instead of trying to make up an 8 character filename. As an example
  41. lets take the script section. The fonts in the script section of the CD all
  42. start with "S" for script. the Number following the "S" is the Font number, and
  43. the letters following the number is the styles and variations. Say you need
  44. Script 2 Extended. The Filename would be "S2E". This also makes it very easy for
  45. people who would like to search for any variety of Script 2 or any other font
  46. on the CD-ROM using a "Whereis" type program. Say you want to find any font on
  47. the CD-ROM that is Script 2, you could do a search for "S2*.*" If there was any
  48. contour, spotted, hollow, or any other varieties of this font, it would show up.
  49. Going through each directory, you can figure out what every font style starts
  50. with. Sending in the registration form enables you to receive a full explanation
  51. of the filing system of our fonts.

  71. We have included an easy to use menu system to make the search and retrieval of
  72. fonts on our CD-ROM easier than ever before. You can search by file name as seen
  73. in our font book, scroll and browse through the directories of fonts, and edit
  74. or copy your fonts of choice to a secondary location.

  76. Note: to get the full effects of these instructions, you can use your "Windows
  77. Write" program to print the "SCREEN.WRI" file off containing a copy of the
  78. screen captures and figures used in these instructions. If you do not have
  79. Microsoft Windows, then print off the files "Fig*.pcx" found on the CD-ROM.

  81. 1. At the Dos prompt of your CD-ROM Drive Type "Fontmenu"
  82. Example: Assuming your CD-ROM Drive is Drive E:

  87. Next you will see the following screen as seen in Figure 1.
  88. The "Menu" (Figure 2) options allow you to Browse, Select, Edit Tags, Copy your
  89. selected fonts, or clear the Tags you have made so far. The "Support" (Figure 3)
  90. options allow you to get Help for the menu, Print off the registration form, or
  91. find out What is a Font?

  93. Browsing the Fonts on the CD-ROM
  94.  
  95. The fonts on this CD-ROM are categorized by style of print to make your search
  96. even easier. If you are looking for a script style of print, then you can go to
  97. the script section and choose fonts there instead of searching through all the
  98. fonts to look for the one you need. To make it easier for you and for Microsoft
  99. Windows to search a directory faster, no more than 100 fonts are in one
  100. directory.

  102. 1. The Hot Key for Browsing fonts on the CD-ROM is F5 or you can go to the
  103. "Menu" options as seen in Figure 2 and select Browse.

  105. 2. Once you select browse, you will get the "Select a Family" Dialog box as seen
  106. in Figure 4. Just scroll down and click or press the space bar on the family you
  107. wish to browse. 
  108.  
  109. 3. When you select a family that you wish to work with, you will get a list of
  110. fonts contained in the current directory as seen in Figure 5.

  112. 4. When you see a font you wish to tag or view, click or hit the space bar on
  113. the font you wish to access. This will bring up the "Work with Font" dialog box
  114. as seen in Figure 6.

  116. 5. From here you can choose to tag the Truetype Font, Tag the Type 1 font,
  117. choose both fonts (By adding both fonts to your tag list), view a screen capture
  118. of the font or cancel your current selection.
  119.  
  120. 6. Once you are done with the current directory you can either Press ALT-F3 to
  121. close the window and go back to the "Select a Family" menu or click the mouse on
  122. the little square box on the upper left hand corner of the Dialog box.

  124. At any time you can call up the scroll bar to transfer or copy fonts by Clicking
  125. on the "Menu" option at the top of the screen as seen in figure 2 or hit ALT-M.

  127. Selecting Fonts by File Name
  128.  
  129. The Hot Key for this menu option is F6
  130.  
  131. The method of organizing fonts on our CD-ROM is done by file name and category
  132. instead of alphabetical or numerical. Designing a system like this enables us to
  133. make a large number of fonts in 1 particular category and have everything
  134. together instead of trying to make up an 8 character name that makes no sense or
  135. gives you no idea of what the font really is. Once you realize how the system is
  136. designed, you will be able to find any font you wish. This menu option is more
  137. helpful for the people that have the book for our CD-ROM or have printed off a
  138. listing of all the fonts found on our CD-ROM.

  140. 1.To Get to the Select Option of the menu, you must go to the "Menu" options as
  141. seen in Figure 2. Use the mouse or the keyboard and choose the "Select" option
  142. from the menu.

  144. 2.Next you will be presented  a screen as seen in Figure 7. 
  145.  
  146. 3. From here all you need to do is type in the file name you wish to search for
  147. and press ok. If the filename is on the drive, the menu will automatically bring
  148. up the "Work with Font" dialog box to let you choose or view the font.
  149.  
  150. 4. Once you are done selecting fonts from this menu just Select "Cancel". This
  151. will not untag the fonts, it is just used once you are done selecting fonts.

  153. Edit Tags
  154.  
  155. This is used for last minute changes to your font list before you transfer the
  156. fonts to your hard drive. The Hot key for this menu option is F7.
  157.  
  158. You can get to this menu by going to the "Menu" options of the menu. Once you
  159. click on the Edit Tags option you will be presented a dialog box as seen in
  160. Figure 8. From Here you can browse through all the fonts you have tagged. You
  161. can View a screen capture of the font, Remove the font from the list , or go to
  162. the next font in the list. Once you are done with editing the list click on
  163. "Done".

  165. Copying Tagged Fonts
  166.  
  167. To copy the fonts you have tagged so far, you must go to the "Copy Tags" option
  168. of the Menu as seen in Figure 2.

  170. You will be presented with a default directory that the program wishes to copy
  171. the fonts. If you wish to use a different directory, then type it in. If the
  172. directory does not exist, the program will prompt you if you would like to make
  173. the directory.

  175. NOTE: You must still go to the Windows Control Panel and Install the fonts after
  176. you transfer them. The menu does not install the fonts for you.
  177.  
  178. Clear Tags
  179.  
  180. This options Hot key is F9. This option is used to clear all the fonts you have
  181. taged so far. The menu does not clear the fonts after you transfer them. This is
  182. good if you need to add one more font to your list and wish to recopy them to
  183. your drive. You can get to this option by going to the "Menu" Options (Alt-M) or
  184. by clicking with the mouse on the "Menu Options. See Figure 2.

  187. How To Install Fonts in Microsoft Windows V3.1

  189. Note: to get the full effects of these instructions, you can use your WRITE
  190. program to print the "FIGS.WRI" file off containing a copy of the screen
  191. captures and figures used in these instructions.

  193. 1. The First Step to install TrueType Fonts is to double click on the Control
  194. Panel Icon.
  195.  
  196. 2. After double clicking on the control panel icon, You will see all the options
  197. offered in the control panel. See Figure 10.
  198.  
  199. 3. Next you must double click on the "Fonts" Icon. Please See Figure 10 to see
  200. what the "Fonts" icon looks like.
  201.  
  202. 4. When you double click on the "Fonts" icon, you will see the "Fonts dialog
  203. box" as seen in Figure 11. This menu shows you all your currently installed
  204. Truetype fonts on your system. From here you can Delete, Add, or change TrueType
  205. options.

  207. 5. At this point please double click on the "ADD" button as seen in Figure 11.
  208. This allows you to add fonts to your current list of fonts available to Windows.
  209. If you do not ADD fonts to Windows, you will not be able to use the fonts you
  210. have chosen.

  212. 6. Next you must use the scroll bars to change to the DRIVE and DIRECTORY in
  213. which the fonts you wish to add are located (See Figure 12). If you kept the
  214. default options from our menu, you can just change to the "C:\WINDOWS\FCFONTS"
  215. directory.

  217. 7. Once you change to the drive and directory in which the fonts you wish to add
  218. are located, you will see the "List of Available Fonts" come up on the screen.
  219. From here you can either choose a few fonts to install or you can choose "Select
  220. All" which will install all the fonts located in the current directory.

  222. 8. Notes for people who do not want the fonts to be installed in the
  223. "WINDOWS\SYSTEM" directory. You do not have to have your fonts in your windows
  224. directory for the fonts to work. You can actually keep the fonts on the CD-ROM
  225. if you wish to save on hard drive space. All you need to do is make sure that
  226. the "Copy fonts to Windows Directory" option as seen in Figure 12 is not checked
  227. and the fonts will stay where they are currently located. This is a nice feature
  228. for those people who like breaking up groups of fonts so you don't have 400
  229. fonts installed at one time.
