Thanks for downloading this design, we wish you the best of luck with your web venture!
As stated, the design should work in IE 5, 6 and 7 on Windows, Firefox and Safari 2 (and probably 1.2). I've tried to comply with XHTML and CSS standards as best I can and everything should validate.
Firstly, the original PSD file has been provided here for Photoshop editing. While you might not use Photoshop, if you need a custom logo, you will want to generate something on a white background (if you are dealing with text or something with a sharp edge, make sure you enable anti-aliasing). The original logo is called logo.gif in the images folder. You may want to switch to a JPG file. The design CSS files (both screen and ie5) has an entry under '#header h1' for this. You might need to alter the height. You may need to change the pixel values for this. Once you have changed your logo, please change the text in the h1 tag in the HTML as well to reflect this so search engines, screen readers, printers, mobile phones etc have a sensible default for the text version.
There is a one and two column layout which you can change via the body tag's class attribute. Please ensure if you use the one_column layout that you do not leave loads of invisible text in the side div tag, as Google and other search engines might see this as cloaking.
A basic print style sheet is provided so that printed copies don't eat loads of ink up and then cut off the last word of every line. It's very irritating when sites are not printer friendly!
If you want to contact me, please send an email to jason -[at]- hybd.net, or jase -[at]- virtualfunction.net, or drop me a note via OWSD via my profile. I'll try my best to help where possible if it's not too time consuming and I'm not too busy. I'm planning to release a few more designs so please keep an eye open over the next few months.
If you want stock art. Please click on the example image link on the design, it points to original restriction free photo, and a library of more freely usable photos. Please try retain credit or link backs to photographers if you can if you use any 'open-source' photos, I'm sure the photographer will be grateful for the recognition.
If you redistribute this, please retain credit where it is due. While this design is open source, and I'm not going to stop you from doing your own thing, if you can, please keep the footer links in place if you can, I would be grateful for the link backs. Again, please let me know where you use this design if you do use it. It's nice to see people make use of it!
