  24. The program disk(s) contain the following 3 files:
  25.              HCALC.EXE                  
  26.              VBRUN100.DLL
  27.              READ.ME
  28. The program was written in Visual Basic and requires the presence
  29. of the runtime file, VBRUN00.DLL, which is on the program 
  30. disk(s).  To install:  Copy VBRUN100.DLL and HCALC.EXE to your
  31. WINDOWS directory (or a directory of your choice).  Then you can
  32. use the WINDOWS Setup program (under Program Manager's "Main"
  33. Group) to install HorseCalc as a Windows Application, which can
  34. then be run by double-clicking on its icon.  Or, you can simply
  35. use WINDOWS' File Manager and double-click on the file name,
  36. HCALC.EXE.

  40. GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
  41.     HorseCalc is a one-screen thoroughbred handicapping
  42.     calculator.  The user enters seven data items, taken 
  43.     from the Daily Racing Form, for each horse he wants 
  44.     to evaluate:
  45.  
  46.         1.  Jockey's winning percentage
  47.         2.  Trainer's winning percentage 
  48.         3.  Horse's total number of races
  49.         4.  Horse's total number of wins
  50.         5.  Most recent Beyer Speed Rating
  51.         6.  Second-most recent Beyer Speed Rating
  52.         7.  Third-most recent Beyer Speed Rating
  53.  
  54.     The program performs calculations on the seven items
  55.     listed above and displays an "Overall Ability Rating".
  56.     The horse with the highest "Overall Ability Rating" in
  57.     any given race is the best bet.

  59.     Detailed operating instructions are contained in the
  60.     program's HELP screens.

  62. USE OF THE RACING FORM:
  63.     The Daily Racing Form is published the day before each
  64.     racing day.  It appears on many newsstands during the
  65.     racing season.  If it can't be found easily, you can 
  66.     simply call the office at the nearest race track; they 
  67.     will be glad to tell you where the Form can be 
  68.     purchased.  The racing fan can do his homework with
  69.     the aid of HorseCalc before going to the track.  The 
  70.     Racing Form has a page for beginners that tells where 
  71.     each piece of information can be found among the maze of
  72.     numbers.  The HorsCalc user can easily locate the 
  73.     seven necessary data items.  The calculated "Overall
  74.     Ability Rating" produced by the program can then be
  75.     noted on the Form to aid the bettor's decisions at the
  76.     track.

  78. REGISTERED USERS WILL RECEIVE:
  79.     1.  An updated version of the program with a special 
  80.         feature that selects a "Super Pick" horse.  A "Super
  81.     Pick" horse is one that has several winning
  82.     characteristics    that make it an unusually good bet.
  83.     Not every race has a "Super Pick", but when it
  84.     does you will want to know it.  According to my
  85.     research, it wins 40% to 60% of the time!

  88.         (1) Detailed operating instructions for the
  89.             program.
  90.             (2) A a proven betting strategy for use with 
  91.                 HorseCalc.
  92.         (3) An analysis of the logic behind HorseCalc and
