  1.                   Rules, Restrictions, and Legal Stuff

  3. This file provides information for Shareware Distributors, Disk Vendors and 
  4. Computer Clubs who wish to distribute the WinDex package.

  6. Catalog Description:
  7.  
  8. WinDex is the BEST rolodex program for Windows.  Full featured, yet small 
  9. and fast, WinDex can keep track of your addresses and phone numbers.  
  10. Addresses can be pasted into any Windows application using the clipboard, 
  11. browsed, searched, printed, added, copied, deleted.  WinDex supports 
  12. multiple data files and multiple instances so you can organize your 
  13. contacts into different groups, and even view two files at once.  The
  14. WinDex environment is persistent across sessions... just add it to your 
  15. Start Up group and go!  V1.1 adds an autodialer and Windows 3.0 support.

  27. Distribution Requirements:

  29. Individuals, Computer Clubs and User Groups who wish to distribute the
  30. WinDex package to friends or associates may do so in accordance with the
  31. restrictions outlined in this documentation.
  32.  
  33. As the exclusive copyright holder for WinDex, John Miller authorizes
  34. distribution only in accordance with the following restrictions.
  35.  
  36. ASP Approved Vendors in good standing are hereby given permission to
  37. distribute WinDex package.  Non-ASP member vendors must request prior
  38. permission before distributing the WinDex package.
  39.  
  40. The WinDex package is defined as containing all the material listed in the
  41. FILES.TXT text file.  If any files listed in the FILES.TXT text file, or the
  42. FILES.TXT file itself, are missing, then the package is not complete and
  43. distribution is forbidden.  Please contact us to obtain a complete package
  44. suitable for distribution.

  46. The WinDex package - including all related program files and documentation
  47. files - CANNOT be modified in any way and must be distributed as a complete
  48. package, without exception.  The FILES.TXT text file contains a list of all
  49. files that are part of the WinDex package.
  50.  
  51. No price or other compensation may be charged for the WinDex package. A
  52. distribution fee may be charged for the cost of the diskette, shipping and
  53. handling, as long as the total (per disk) does not exceed $5.00 (US) in the
  54. U.S. and Canada, or $10.00 (US) internationally.

  56. Disk Sets & CD-ROMs:
  57.  
  58. The WinDex package may not be sold as part of some other inclusive package.
  59. Nor can it be included in any commercial software packaging offer, without a
  60. written agreement from the author.
  61.  
  62. ASP Approved Vendors who wish to distribute the WinDex package as part of a
  63. collection (such as PsL's MegaDisk set, or a CD-ROM package) may do so
  64. provided that all the other restrictions are met.
  65.  
  66. Vendors (non-ASP Vendor Members) who wish to distribute the WinDex package
  67. as part of a collection (such as PsL's MegaDisk set, or a CD-ROM package)
  68. must obtain permission from the author prior to beginning such a
  69. distribution.

  71. If you wish to add any of our programs to a CD-ROM or other collection,
  72. please check the release date of the version you have.  If the version is
  73. over six (6) months old then please contact us to ensure that you have the
  74. most current version.  This version (1.1) was released in March 1993.

  76. Disk-of-the-Month (or Subscription) Distribution:

  78. If you would like to distribute the WinDex package as a Disk-of-the-Month, 
  79. or as part of a subscription or monthly service, then the following
  80. restrictions apply:

  82. ASP Associate (Disk Vendor) Members in good standing are hereby given
  83. permission to distribute the WinDex package under the Disk-of-theMonth style
  84. of distribution. Others (non-ASP Members) must contact us in advance to
  85. ensure that you have the most current version of the software.
  86.  
  87. You cannot use a Disk-of-the-Month distribution to use up your inventory of
  88. old (out of date) disks.  Only current versions may be shipped as
  89. Disk-of-the-Month disks. The PRINTED User's Guide may not be reproduced in
  90. whole or in part, using any means, without the written permission of  the
  91. author.  In other words, the disk-based documentation may not be distributed
  92. in PRINTED (hardcopy) form.

  94. The WinDex package cannot be "rented" or "leased" to others.
  95.  
  96. You may not list any of our products in advertisements, catalogs, or other
  97. literature which describes our products as "FREE SOFTWARE". Shareware is
  98. "Try-Before-You-Buy" software, it is not free.
  99.  
  100. The distribution of outdated versions of the WinDex package is prohibited
  101. without written permission from the author.
  102.  
  103. Licensee shall not use, copy, rent, lease, sell, modify, decompile,
  104. disassemble, otherwise reverse engineer, or transfer the licensed program
  105. except as provided in this agreement. Any such unauthorized use shall result
  106. in immediate and automatic termination of this license.
  107.  
  108. U.S. Government Information:  Use, duplication, or disclosure by the U.S.
  109. Government of the computer software and documentation in this package shall
  110. be subject to the restricted rights applicable to commercial computer
  111. software as set forth in subdivision (b)(3)(ii) of the Rights in Technical
  112. Data and Computer Software clause at 252.227-7013 (DFARS 52.227-7013).  The
