  177.   Press    [Return] to edit the string that determines the    order you want to
  178.   sort the descriptions.  Leave it blank if you don't want to sort.

  180.     F = Filename,    L = LIB#, D = Date, P =    PPN/UserID.
  181.     + and - determines ascending or descending.

  183.   For example: "l+d-p+f+", sorts by LIB+ Date- UserID+ FileName+

  185.   Press    [Return] to toggle Yes/No.
  186.   If Yes, then the older of all two exact duplicate descriptions will be
  187.   deleted.  That is, descriptions with the same UserID and FileName.
  188.   To make it so the LIBs also must match, answer 'L' to the next prompt.

  193. ~022 = Similar Dupes
  194.   Press [Return] to edit the number of characters in the description's
  195.   filename for CatScan to check    before it flags    it as a    possible updated file,
  196.   and you're prompted to delete it.  For example, if you specify 4, and
  197.   CatScan sees "NAME51.ARC" and    "NAME52.ARC", it will see that the two
  198.   descriptions were uploaded by    the same person    and have the same first    4
  199.   characters in    the filename.  So, it will ask you if you want to delete one.

  201.   The range is 1 to 9.    Use -1 to NOT flag any.
  202. ~023 = Echo screen,printer,file
  203.   Press    [Return] to toggle between Screen, Printer, and    File.

  205.   If Screen : error messages and reports go to the screen only.
  206.   If Printer: output goes to the screen    and the    printer.
  207.   If File   : output goes to the screen    and a file named CATSCAN.SAV.
  208. ~024 = Delete Older Than
  209.   Press    [Return] to edit the number of days to delete descriptions that
  210.   are older than number    of days    old.  Use with caution,    and make sure your
  211.   system date is set correctly.  Enter 0 or -1 to disable this option.

  213.   You'll then be asked which LIBs you want to delete from.  Enter
  214.   'All' for all, or each LIB number separated by a space to delete
  215.   from specific LIBs.
  216. ~025 = Days to add
  217.   Press    [Return] to edit. When CatScan calculates the latest ages of the
  218.   files in each Library to generate update scripts, you might want to add a
  219.   number of days to compensate for the time it takes between uploading
  220.   and merging files into the Library.

  222.   Enter 0 to make it so the scripts capture back to and including the
  223.   latest date in each Library. Enter -1 to capture 1 day prior to the latest.

  226. Format:    CatScan    FILEMASK {File to ADD to MAIN} [-sxxx, -d#, -p, -z]
  227. Items in "{}" and "[]" are optional parameters:
  228. FILEMASK = File(s) to be used.    DOS wildcard characters    are acceptable.
  229. FILE TO    ADD TO MAIN = A    description file to be added to    the main File.
  230.         This option cannot be used if wildcards    are used in FILEMASK.
  231. -x    Automatically Delete the file to ADD to MAIN when processing is done.
  232. -s    Specify sort order:
  233.     f = Filename, l = LIB#, d = Date, p = PPN.
  234.     + and - determines ascending or descending.
  235.     ex. "-sl+d-p+f+", "-sp+d-f+"
  236. -d[l]    Delete older of two descriptions if they have the same UserID and File
  237.     Name. If parameter = "-dl" then the LIB numbers must match also before
  238.     being flagged as duplicates. This option is automatically enabled if
  239.     other parameters make rewriting the file necessary.
  240. -d[l]#    Same as "-d[l]" AND the number "#" of characters in the description's
  241.     filename for CatScan to    check before you are prompted to Delete    it.
  242.     "#" Range = 1 to 9
  243. -p    Echo results to the Printer.
  244. -r    Echo results to file "CATSCAN.SAV".
  245. -z#     Remove all descriptions older than # days old.  To delete only from
  246.     particular LIBs, enter the LIB numbers after the parameter.  For
  247.     example, "-z30 0" will delete descriptions older than 30 days old
  248.     from LIB 0 only.
  249. -oFILE    Write the aged descriptions, which were deleted from the main file 
  250.     with the '-z' switch, to a file.  'FILE' is the name of the file or 
  251.     your choice that they are to be written to.  The descriptions are 
  252.     added to 'FILE' if 'FILE' already exists.
  253. -u    Create update script.
  254. -a#    When CatScan calculates the latest ages of the files in each Library
  255.     to generate update scripts, you may add # number of days to compensate
  256.     for the time it takes between the uploading and merging of files into
  257.     the Library.
  258.     Enter -a0 to make it so the scripts capture back to and including the
  259.     latest date in each Library. Enter -a-1 to capture back 1 day prior to
  260.     the latest.
  261. -NOEMS    Prevents CatScan from copying the overlay file to EMS at startup.
  262. (xxx)    Specify the TAPCIS PARAMS.xxx file for CatScan to use.
