Changing the Working Date
This pop-up calendar is used to modify the work date for DayView. In the upper right corner of your screen is the working date. This is the date that is used by each of the windows when they need to know what information to show you.
To change the working date, you can select Date... from the Options menu, or press the F9 function key. A calendar, similar to the regular calendar window will appear. {
Use the mouse to point to a day, or use the arrow keys to scroll the highlight to a day. Press Enter to set the highlighted day as the current date. If you have any windows open when you press the enter key, you will notice that their contents might change. Changing the working date will not cause you to lose any data, so feel free to change dates as often as is necessary. ^
Press Esc or Alt-F3 to close the Working Date Calendar and return to the other open windows.
Time Sheet Reports
Time Sheet reports provide a monthly overview of the activities that were performed. When the Dialog box appears, you can enter the month and year for which you want a time report. y
DayView will summarize all the tasks performed in that month, by project, and print a report showing time spent by day.
Print Location
DayView can send its reports to the printer or to a file. By default, reports will print out on your printer if you leave the Print Location as PRN. If you change it to something else, DayView will assume you have entered a filename and attempt to print the report there.
You may also choose to have DayView not send printer control strings to the file by changing the Formatted check from Yes to No.
Formatting Reports
When you installed DayView, you used DayPrint to set up the control codes that your printer understands. When you are sending a report to the printer, it will interpret these codes internally, and they will not appear on your report. When you send a report to a file instead, the control codes can just make the report look sloppy.
Unless you plan to copy the report file to the printer eventually, we suggest you turn off the report formatting by selecting No (or Alt-N) in the Format check box.
To Do Entry Screen
This screen is used to enter or edit information about things-to-do. The first field in the window is the Item field. Here is where you should enter a description of the thing you want to do. You can enter a string up to 80 characters in length; DayView will scroll the text left and right in the field without losing any characters.
You can also enter a Due Date for this To Do item. Due Dates are necessary, but they can be an important reminder for you when you are planning your day.
The third field in this window is the project code field. Enter the code of a project that this To Do item relates to. If you want, you can press the Ins key and DayView will pop up a list of project codes. See Project

The small boxed marked doNe should, of course, be initially marked No. When you have completed this To Do item, edit this record and check the Yes circle. DayView will remove this item from your list of active Things To Do and store the information in another file for reporting purposes.

Set Other DayView Parameters
Use this screen to set all user defineable parameters other than printer choice. Each of the entry fields in the dialog box is described below. e
Start Time and End Time refer to the Starting and Ending times shown in the Appointments window. They do not limit the appointments you can schedule, you are always able to schedule an appointment for any time of day; they simply limit the range of times shown to you in the window. By default, the window will show appointments from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM. ;
The Hot Key field is used to set the keystroke that will pop up DayView when running in TSR mode. DayView is shipped with Alt-Tab as the default hot key, but since other programs may use this key you are provided with a way to change. Use the codes from the following table to select the desired pop-up hot key. 4
Basic Key Ctrl Alt LtShft RtShft

You can create pop up combinations that require two or more of the Ctrl,Alt, Left Shift and Right Shift keys by adding the first two digits of their codes and appending the last two digits, so to create the pop up code for Ctrl Alt F1 add 04 and 08 (hexidecimal) and append the 3B to get 0B3B.
Sample combinations are: y
LtShft+RtShft = 03
Ctrl+LtShft = 05
Ctrl+RtShft = 06
Alt+LtShft = 09
Alt+RtShft = 0A
Ctrl+Alt = 0B
The last two digits of the code are the scan code (in hexidecimal) of the key desired. You may use any key on your keyboard as the hot key, the above chart is provided as a sample. A complete list of scan codes is included in the manual.
The last parameter defines the location that DayView can use to store it's temporary swap files when in TSR mode. DayView tries to use EMS if available to store itself when not active, but you don't have any free EMS, DayView will use a hard disk. Enter a path string for any directory on your hard disk or network server drive; you cannot enter a path to a floppy or other removeable media!
Save Parameters to EXE file
Press Alt-S, or select Save from the menu and DayPrint will save your modifications to the chosen printer and parameters to the DayView.EXE file. These changes won't take effect if you already have DayView.EXE loaded as a TSR; they will become active the next time you load DayView.
Select printer from library
This option permits you to select a printer from the DayPrint library. Scroll through the list until you come to your printer and the press the Ok button. You selection will not become active until you Save your changes with Alt-S.
Change printer control codes
On this screen, you may modify any of the printer control codes that DayView has assigned. Use this screen if you want to refine the codes that DayPrint has stored in a library entry or if your printer is not included in the library yet. If you send a print screen of this window to Pravetz & Associates, we will add your printer to the library.
