- What is PKBTM ?
-
- PKBTM (PK.BAT) is one of the most complex 4DOS BTM files ever published !
- It allows you to do almost everything that any archiver shell would do
- in a simple batch file. If you are a modem addict, you probably transfer
- a lot of compressed files every week, and you have to decompress them, scan
- them, test them, and finally describe them. A very tedious work.
- PKBTM happens to be one of the best solutions when it comes to perform such
- operations.
-
- This BTM file is intended for users of PKware's zip format as their primary
- archive format choice, but you might as well modify it to use any other
- archiver as your primary archive format.
-
-
- System requirements:
-
- 4DOS v4.0 and your brain !
-
-
- How to install PKBTM ?
-
- This is the easiest task !
-
- Either,
-
- 1- Move all PKBTM's files into a directory pointed by your path
- statement.
-
- Or
-
- 2- Create a subdirectory for PKBTM and edit the PKBTM program (PK.BAT)
- so that the line that contains the %@search statement be replaced with the
- path to PKBTM's environement variables list (PK.INI)
-
- There is such an exemple built right in the PKBTM program.
-
- If you do not know what is a path statement, please refer to 4DOS.DOC.
-
- After, edit the file that contains PKBTM's environment variables
- (PK.INI) so that those variables fit your system.
-
- When you will look at PK.INI, you will see that all the variables are
- explained in the file itself.
-
-
- For PKBTM to run properly, the following conditions will have to be respected.
-
- 1- Enough environment memory must be provided. A little overhead of 100 bytes
- would not be too bad, since 4DOS itself, needs some environement memory to
- evaluates its functions.
-
- 2- PKBTM must be able to load PK.INI completely in memory.
-
- 3- Variables in PK.INI must be set properly.
-
-
- !!!
-
- There is a lot of code in PKBTM to insure it gets those conditions fullfilled.
- If you think you can do it, we greatly suggest you eleminate all this code.
- It will then speed up a lot the loading of PKBTM.
-
- You may need to do some debugging if you have ANSI macros or 4DOS
- aliases / BTM files that could possibly interfere with PKBTM.
-
- If after verifying and *reverifying* your configuration, you keep having the
- same problem, then it's probably a bug, and we would be glad if you could
- contact us and tell us more about it !
-
- If you're still reading, than it's probable that you would be interested in
- registering PKBTM.
-
-
- REGISTERING ???
-
- We hope you realize that we certainly did not put this many hours in programming
- PKBTM just for the heck of it !
-
- We beleive that the benifits of registering PKBTM are very interesting.
-
- With the registerd version of PKBTM you will receive:
-
- A Floppy disk with both the registered and Shareware original files.
- A Password that will allow you to come on FMMHOST BBS and download all the new
- registered versions and other FMMO BTM files as they become available.
- A full technical support via our presence in the FidoNet 4DOS conference or
- net mail to FMMHOST BBS.
-
- The satisfaction of registering the first batch file in your life, (Or for
- registered users of DESCBTM, the second batch file of your life !)
-
- Plus, if we see that there's some people out there, that are enough interested
- in our products to send us some money, we might continue creating good
- 4DOS BTM files for a long time :-))
-
-
- How to register:
-
- Send your name, address a little about yourself as a 4DOS user,
-
- a floppy disk format of your choice, and
-

- to
- FMMO Publications Informatiques
- 2645 Argenson
- Sherbrooke, Qc
- Canada
- J1J-1P5
-
- We will mail you back a disk and a letter with the stuff explained above.
-
- Please note that we will gladly send FREE registered versions to anybody who
- will upload on our BBS a 4DOS batch file of their own of equivalent
- complexity and size. Just mail us your name, an address and a 5 1/4 floppy disk.
-
-
- Where can I get the latest version of PKBTM ?
-
- The latest version is always available by file request on our FidoNet node
- @1:257/440 under the magic name of PKBTM.
-
- It is also available on Channel 1 BBS in the 4DOS conference and at CRS.
-
- We would like you to send us your impressions on this program.
