  11. Summary:

  13. If you use multiple configurations in your CONFIG.SYS file, you should
  14. use a [common] section for the device drivers and environment
  15. statements you would normally use for all of your configurations.
  16.  
  17. If you place the [common] section at the end of your CONFIG.SYS file,
  18. you greatly increase the chances that a setup or installation program
  19. will correctly update your CONFIG.SYS file.
  20.  
  21. For example, when you install a CD-ROM drive, the installation
  22. software adds the device driver to the CONFIG.SYS file. It will
  23. probably add the device driver at the bottom, in the [common] section.
  24. If you had [Development] as your last section, the CD-ROM driver would
  25. be available only under that configuration, instead of every
  26. configuration.
