  23. TANDY XT COMPATIBLE COMPUTERS

  25.      The  Tandy  1000 and 1000SX require modifications  prior  to 
  26. installation  of  the PS180-8XT Controller.   Unlike IBM XTs  and 
  27. compatibles,   which  use  IRQ5  for  the  hard  disk  controller 
  28. interrupt,  the  Tandy  computers  use IRQ2  for  the  hard  disk 
  29. controller and IRQ5 as an optional bus interrupt.

  31.      The  IRQ5 interrupt line must be disabled to use the  PS180-
  32. 8XT.   The Tandy 1000SX has a 4 position dip switch.   Position 2 
  33. of dip switch S2, if set in the OFF position,  will disable IRQ5.  
  34. The Tandy 1000 may or may not have this dip switch.   If not, you 
  35. must bend pin 13 of the 8259 interrupt control chip so that it is 
  36. out  of the socket.   Be careful that you do not break or  remove 
  37. this pin from the chip, however.  In addition, modifications must 
  38. be made to the PS180-8XT Controller. Call your dealer for further 
  39. details.

  41. TANDY AT COMPATIBLE COMPUTERS
  42.  
  43.      The  Tandy  286 computers require no modifications prior  to 
  44. installation of the PS180-8AT Controller.  However, only the AT9-
  45. 1.03  BIOS has been tested with the Tandy 3000 and 4000  computer 
  46. systems.   Newer  BIOS revisions have not been tested with  these 
  47. computers.
