  74.        A.  Simply put it is your answer to a cluttered unorganized set of
  75.        floppies.

  77.        Q.  WHAT DOES IT DO ?

  79.        A.  This program allows you the user to input all of the pertinent
  80.        information that you will need to effectively know what you
  81.        have in the way of diskettes, where you have them and what is
  82.        on them.

  84.        Q.  I ALREADY HAVE A DATABASE OF MY DISKETTES WHY WOULD I WANT TO
  85.        CHANGE ?

  87.        A.  I find that most people, to include myself either do not have
  88.        an organized database or (this is more often than not) use a
  89.        program that you must use the program in order to call in your
  90.        database, ie., PC-FILE, dBASE, dBXL, First Choice and so on.
  91.        With this program that is history.  You no longer need an
  92.        engine to run the bus because FDIC does it all for you.

  94.        Q.  YES, BUT I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF TIME LOADING MY PRESENT DATABASE
  95.        INTO WHAT I HAVE NOW AND I DO NOT WANT TO RE-TYPE ALL OF THAT
  96.        INFORMATION AGAIN!

  98.        A.  OLAY!!, you don't have to. If you are presently using any
  99.        database that uses the .dbf extension or is compatible, you do
  100.        not need to do that.  Before you run FDIC for the first time,
  101.        place your .dbf file, minus the index files (.ndx extension)
  102.        onto the same diskette that FDIC is on and simply type FDIC.
  103.        You will see that upon initialization of FDIC it will
  104.        automatically index your existing database.  For those fields
  105.        I have added that you may not have, simply just use the
  106.        (M)odify command located at the bottom of the screen and
  107.        add/change to suit your needs.  THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO IT!

  109.     *NOTE* For those fields listed in FDIC that you may not have, you must
  110.            first go into your present database and add the fields.  You do
  111.            not need to add data to these at this point. Just need to add
  112.            them so your .dbf file will understand them. The following is
  113.            the field name on screen and the corresponding field your
  114.            database must have.

  140.          Of course, if you are not adding an existing database
  141.          this does not apply and you can just delete the three files
  142.          I have as an example with the (D)el command and start adding
  143.          your records.

  145.          I could write on and on about all the features that you can
  146.        use and need to know but they are all on the command line at the
  147.        bottom of each screen.  Need the definition of a command, just
  148.        press the (H)elp key and it gives you two easy to read pages of
  149.        each command and its description.  When using the (L)ist command,
  150.        in order to display all records in the present .dbf ensure you are
  151.        at the beginning (B)eg of the report.  If not, all that will be
  152.        listed is all files from the point of the display to the end.

  154.        Reports Menus allows you to print a complete listing of your
  155.        database file. It indexes on (Ascending) Category, Software Title
  156.        and then Disk #.

  158.        File Maintenance Menus allows you to backup your .dbf, .fmt, .rpt
  159.        and .ndx files to either the a:> or b:> drives.

  164.        One more thing! Your printer MUST BE online when selecting the
  165.        reports menu.  If not, a blank screen will appear.  Play with FDIC
  166.        and if you enjoy it and use it, please register for the small fee
  167.        that I request.

  171.        As with all Shareware Authors a lot of time has been spent in the
  172.        development of this program and to encourage us to keep this low
  173.        cost medium out here at a reasonable price you should register
  174.        those programs that you find useful and use on a regular basis. I
  175.        set no limits as to your evaluation time, although thirty days is
  176.        usually sufficient.  Try FDIC for yourself, if you find it useful
  177.        my wife begs you that you send a donation of $3.00.  If you send
  178.        $6.00 you will automatically receive one free update whenever any
  179.        significant changes are made (no time limitations).  If registered
  180.        at $6.00 you are a life member of this program and can always send
  181.        a diskette along with applicable postage ($2.00) and receive the
