CONNER.EXE is a small program designed to give you information about an IDE
hard drive. It uses the 'drive information' command, and all the information
printed is obtained from the drive. (Even the (c) messages).
This program also leaves a small bit resident which turns off the retires
on hard drives. (This should work on any drive). By turing off the retires
before formatting a drive you should find many more 'suspect' sectors marked
as bad...which is how they should be.
Conner hard drives, such as the 3044, 3104 and 3204 (or the 2xxx series)
have a very very long retry time, up to four seconds. If you have a hard
drives that somtimes pauses for a long time then it could be a 'flakey'
sector. Run this program and then reformat.
The information returned from the drive is printed on the left of the screen
the correct parameters for a 40 and 100 Meg Conner drive (3044 and 3104)
are also printed so you can compare.
This program should work on any PC, with any IDE style hard drive (which are
becoming the new standard).
