*1 The number of user tracks indicates the maximum user zone which includes
the spare area and slipping area.
*2 Figure 2.1 of Document 56FH5006E-AR outlines seek time (typical). Seek
time does not include the address confirmation time. The average seek time
may vary due to disk eccentricity in the range from 25 to 35 ms.
*3 Loading time is the time from when the optical disk cartridge is inserted
to when the optical disk drive is ready.
*4 Unloading time is the time from when the eject button is pressed or the
eject command is issued to when the optical disk cartridge is ejected.
*5 The maximum SCSI data transfer rate may be limited by the initiator
response time, SCSI bus transfer characteristics, or transfer distance.
*6 The bit error rate must be 10-12 or less when a disk whose raw error rate
is 10-4 or less is used.
Note: The current limiter of the 5 VDC power supply must activate before
5 A are drawn.
Settings
Before installing the drive in the system, set the following
setting terminals and SCSI terminating resistors:
. Setting terminal: CNH 1
. Setting switch: SW1, SW2
NOTICE
1) The user must not change the settings of terminals not
described in this section. The terminals must remain as
set when shipped.
2) Do not change terminal settings when the power is on.
3) To strap setting terminals, use the jumper shipped with
the drive.
Setting items are as follows:
(1) SW1
. SCSI ID
(2) SW2
. SCSI data bus parity check
. Synchronous transfer mode
. Device mode
. Spindle autostop mode
. Power save mode
. Factory examination mode (Not to be set by the user)
. Reserved 1
. Reserved 2
SCSI terminating resistor
Enabling or disabling the SCSI terminating resistor function of the drive
can be set by installing or removing the terminating resistor. The switch
setting depends on the mounting location of the optical disk drive as
follows:
a) When the drive is connected to either end of the SCSI cable:
The SCSI terminating resistor must be installed.
b) When the drive is not connected to an end of the SCSI cable:
The SCSI terminating resistor must be removed.
Terminating Resistor Power Supply
CNH1 1 - 2 Power is supplied to the terminating resistor from the drive
only.
CNH1 2 - 3 Power is supplied to the terminating resistor from the TERMPWR
pin only.
To disable the Termination on the drive remove the terminating resistor
circuit from socket.

Air flow
An air flow is recommended in one of the three type shown on the depending on
the drive bezel. Two single bezel panel types and one double bezel panel are
available.
Note: Air flow temperature is 40_C and below. Dust condition is 0.15 mg/m3
and below.
Type (1)
Fan 109P0412H302(SANYO), 12V,[]40mm
Filter G-0008W(SUMITOMO 3 M), dust collection rate 30%
Cleaning Cycle 6 months
Air flow 0.05 m3/min
Type (2)
Fan 109P0412H302(SANYO), 12V,[]40mm
Filter G-0008W(SUMITOMO 3 M), dust collection rate 30%
Cleaning Cycle 6 months
Air flow 0.09 m3/min
Type (3)
Fan MF40B(NIPPON-KEIKI), 5V,[]40mm
Cleaning Cycle 3 months
Air flow 0.07 m3/min
Air purity
Air purity in the device environment is expressed by the number of dust
particles per unit area and must be class one million or less.
(Class one million: 1 million dust particles of 0.5 um dia. or larger
per cubic foot)
use the above fans and dust filter for the general office environment.
The head and disk should be cleaned every three months if the air purity
is about class one million.
