  65. THE DTC 31/3280 requires a 16K memory space.  The memory address switches
  66. define the base, or starting address of this memory space.

  76. DUAL SPEED SWITCH - SW1 (7)
  77. The Dual Speed Switch allows the DTC3280 to support dual speed floppy disk
  78. drives.  This switch must be closed when connecting dual speed floppy disk
  79. drives to the DTC3280.  The default setting for this switch is open.

  107. The Interrupt "A" switches define the DTC31/3280 interrupt level.  The
  108. Host Adaptor can be configured to use interrupt level 10,11,12, or 13.
  109. The table below defines the switch settings and the corresponding
  110. interrupt level.
  111. Note:  The DTC31/3280 does not use interrupts in a DOS enviroment.

  124. The SCSI parity switch enables the parity bit on the SCSI bus.

  130. Each device on the SCSI bus, including the DTC31/3280, must have a
  131. unique SCSI ID from zero to seven.  These switches are used to define
  132. the SCSI ID for the DTC31/3280, as described below.

  140. INSTALL THE DTC31/3280
  141. The following steps are required to install the DTC31/3280 in your computer:
  142.  
  143.  * Set the ID of each SCSI device on your system.  Each SCSI device, including
  144.    the DTC31/3280, must have a unique ID from zero to seven.
  145.  
  146.  * Install internal SCSI devices into the computer.
  147.  
  148.  * NOTE:  The first and the last devices connected to the SCSI bus must have
  149.    terminating resistors.  If the DTC31/3280 is not physically the first or
  150.    last device on the cable, remove the TP1 and TP2 resistor packs.  The
  151.    DTC31/3280 comes from the factory to be either the first or the last device.
  152.  
  153.  * If you are using internal SCSI devices, connect one end of the 50 pin header
  154.    on the DTC31/3280.
  155.  
  156.  * Remove one of the metal brackets from any empty expansion slot in the rear
  157.    of the computer chassis and insert the DTC31/3280.
  158.  
  159.  * Connect the internal SCSI devices to the 50 pin ribbon cable.  Be sure
  160.    that pin 1 of the 50 pin header is connected to pin 1 of the SCSI devices.
  161.  
  162.  * Reassemble the computer.  Refer to your computer manual for the proper
  163.    procedure.
  164.  
  165.  * Connect any external SCSI devices to the external connector on the
  166.    DTC31/3280 using the 50-pin shielded cable.
  167.  
  168. DETERMINE YOUR SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
  169. The DTC31/3280 software contains drivers and utilities that, in conjunction
  170. with the DTC31/3280 hardware, allow you to install and operate multiple
  171. SCSI devices.  This section should be referred to in order to determine the
  172. software requirements for your particular configuration.  The files contained
  173. on the DTC31/3280 software diskette are as follows:
  174.  
  175.  GSCSI4.SYS           DTC31/3280 DOS DRIVER
  176.  GSCSI4.EXE           DTC31/3280 REMOVEABLE CARTRIDGE DRIVER
  177.  GSFDISK.EXE          PARTITION UTILITY
  178.  GSDIAG.EXE           LOW-LEVEL FORMAT UTILITY
  179.  AUTOEXEC.BAT         AUTO-EXECUTABLE FILE
  180.  CONFIG.SYS           SYSTEM CONFIGURATION FILE
  181. *SCSILDER.SYS         DOS loadable BIOS driver (only in v5.3 or later)
  182.  
  183. GSCSI4.SYS is a DOS device driver that is required if your system has more
  184. than two SCSI devices or if your system has any ST506 (MFM,RLL) or ESDI
  185. hard disk drives.
  186.  
  187. GSCSI4.EXE is a DOS device driver that supports SCSI removeable cartridge
  188. drives.  If you are connecting a removeable cartridge SCSI device to the
  189. DTC31/3280, you need to install GSCSI4.EXE.
  190.  
  191. SCSILDER.SYS is a special driver which moves the DTC3280 on-board BIOS
  192. into the system RAM.  Load in the config.sys as DEVICE=BIOSLDER.SYS and
  193. copy the file BIOSLDER.SYS to the root directory of the boot device.  The
  194. BIOSLDER.SYS should be loaded before the GSCSI4.SYS and if smartdrv is used
  195. then both of our .SYS files should be loaded first.

  198. INSTALLING THE DTC31/3280 SOFTWARE ON A HARD DISK (NON-BOOTABLE CONFIG.)
  199. Follow the procedure below to install the DTC31/3280 software on your hard
  200. disk drive. where Drive C: represents a hard disk drive and drive A:
  201. represents a floppy disk drive.
  202.  
  203. * Insert the DTC31/3280 software diskette in drive A:.  At the DOS prompt,
  204.   enter the following command to change to the root directory:
  205.  
  206.                            CD C:\
  207.  
  208. * At the new DOS prompt, enter the following command to copy the files
  209.   to the hard disk:
  210.  
  211.                            Copy A:G*.* C:
  212.  
  213. * If your system configuration does not require the DTC31/3280 DOS drivers,
  214.   GSCSI4.EXE and GSCSI4.SYS your software installation is now complete.
  215.  
  216. * If your system configuration requires GSCSI4.SYS, add the following
  217.   statement to your CONFIG.SYS file:
  218.  
  219.                            DEVICE=C:GSCSI4.SYS
  220.  
  221.  If your system configuration requires GSCSI4.SYS, add the following
  222.  statement to your CONFIG.SYS file:
  223.  
  224.                            COPY A:CONFIG.SYS C:
  225.  
  226. * If your system configuration requires GSCSI4.EXE, add the following
  227.   statement to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
  228.  
  229.                            GSCSI4
  230.  
  231.  If your system does not have an AUTOEXEC.BAT file, copy this file from
  232.  the DTC31/3280 software diskette to your hard disk by entering the
  233.  following command:
  234.  
  235.                            COPY A:AUTOEXEC.BAT C:
  236.  
  237. * Your software installation is now complete.  Please note, you must re-boot
  238.   your computer prior to accessing any of the SCSI devices.
  239.  
  240. INSTALLING THE DTC31/3280 SOFTWARE ON A DUAL-FLOPPY SYSTEM (BOOTABLE CONFIG.)
  241. If your system does not have a hard disk drive but has two floppy disk drives,
  242. follow the procedure below to install the DTC31/3280 software on your start-
  243. up diskette.  In the procedure, both drive A: and B: represent floppy disk
  244. drives.
  245.  
  246. * Switch on your system with the start-up diskette in drive A:.  Insert the
  247.   DTC31/3280 software diskette in Drive B:.  Enter the following command
  248.   to change the root directory:
  249.  
  250.                            CD A:\
  251.  
  252. * Copy the files from the DTC31/3280 software diskette to your start-up
  253.   diskette with the following command:
  254.  
  255.                            Copy B:G*.* A:
  256.  
  257. * If your system configuration does not require the DTC31/3280 DOS drivers,
  258.   GSCSI4.EXE and GSCSI4.SYS, your software installation is now complete.
  259.  
  260. * If your system configuration requires GSCSI.SYS, add the following state-
  261.   ment to your CONFIG.SYS file:
  262.  
  263.                            DEVICE=A:GSCSI4.SYS
  264.  
  265.   If your system does not have a CONFIG.SYS file, copy this file from the
  266.   DTC31/3280 software diskette to your start-up diskette by entering the
  267.   following command:
  268.  
  269.                            Copy B:CONFIG.SYS A:
  270.  
  271. * If your system configuration requires GSCSI4.EXE, add the following state-
  272.   ment to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:

  274.                            GSCSI4
  275.  
  276.   If your system does not have an AUTOEXEC.BAT file, copy this file from
  277.   the DTC31/3280 software diskette to your start-up diskette by entering the
  278.   following command:
  279.  
  280.                            COPY B:AUTOEXEC.BAT A:
  281.  
  282. * Your software installation is now complete.  Please note, you must re-boot
  283.   your computer prior to accessing any of the SCSI devices.

  285. USING GSDIAG
  286. The DTC31/3280 software includes GSDIAG low-level format utility for SCSI
  287. disk drives.  Follow the procedure below to invoke this utility.
  288.  
  289. * At the DOS prompt, enter the following command:
  290.  
  291.                            GSDIAG
  292.  
  293. * Follow the instructions on your computer screen.  Select Option 1 to
  294.   format with the Drive Default Values.  This option uses the parameters
  295.   defined by the SCSI disk drive.  If your system has a special configuration,
  296.   it may be necessary to select Format Options 2-4 instead of selecting the
  297.   default values.  Option 2 allows you to manually enter a defect map.
  298.   Options 3 and 4 are used to change the Mode Select parameters.
  299.  
  300. GSFDISK
  301. GSFDISK is the DTC SCSI host adapter partition utility.  This utility can be
  302. used to create a single or multiple partition on a SCSI drive.  DOS version
  303. 4.0 or greater must be used to create a single or multiple partition on a
  304. SCSI drive.  DOS version 4.0 or greater must be used to create a partition
  305. greater than 32 MB (which is a DOS limitation).
  306.  
  307.                            NOTE
  308.  This procedure must be repeated for all the SCSI disk drives.  After part-
  309.  itioning each SCSI disk drive, the system will reboot.
  310.  
  311. Use the following steps to partition the SCSI disk drive.  At the DOS prompt:
  312.               Type the following:
  313.                            GSFDISK
  314.  
  315. Follow the on-screen message to complete the set-up partition procedure.
