HOME ADAPTED ALLOWANCE;
VA may approve a grant not more than 50% the cost of building,
buying or remodeling such homes or paying indebtness on such
homes already acquired, up to a maximum grant of $38,000.
Veterans must be entitled to compensation for permanent and
total service-connected disability due to:
the loss or loss of use of both lower extremities, such as to
preclude locomotion without the aid of braces, crutches, canes,
or wheelchair, or disability which includes blindness in both
eyes, having only light perception, plus loss or loss of use of
one lower extremity or loss or loss of use of one lower
extremity together with residuals of organic disease or injury
or the loss or loss of use of one upper extremity, which so
affect the functions of balance or propulsion as to preclude
locomotion without resort to braces, canes, crutches or a
wheelchair.
A $6500 grant may be approved for adaptations for: blindness
in both eyes with 5/200 visual acuity or less or anatomical loss
or loss of use of both hands.
