  1. HOME ADAPTED ALLOWANCE; 
  2.    VA may approve a grant not more than 50% the cost of building,
  3.    buying or remodeling such homes or paying indebtness on such  
  4.  homes already acquired, up to a maximum grant of $38,000. 
  5.    Veterans must be entitled to compensation for permanent and   
  6. total service-connected disability due to: 
  7.    
  8.    the loss or loss of use of both lower extremities, such as to 
  9.    preclude locomotion without the aid of braces, crutches, canes,
  10.    or wheelchair, or disability which includes blindness in both 
  11.    eyes, having only light perception, plus loss or loss of use of 
  12.    one lower extremity or loss or loss of use of one lower   
  13.    extremity together with residuals of organic disease or injury 
  14.    or the loss or loss of use of one upper extremity, which so   
  15.    affect the functions of balance or propulsion as to preclude  
  16.    locomotion without resort to braces, canes, crutches or a   
  17.    wheelchair.

  19.    A $6500 grant may be approved for adaptations for: blindness 
  20.    in both eyes with 5/200 visual acuity or less or anatomical loss
  21.    or loss of use of both hands.
