Dear Sir,
Would you have the time to call an owner of one of the trucks
that your company built? The truck happens to be a G.M.C. Jimmy
that the transmission has been going out on since 40,000 miles.
I realized that a truck doesn't last forever, but I was always
taught that QUALITY comes first! Not profits. The truck is
driven daily by my wife.
Here are just some of the problems with the truck since we
purchased it.
1. Rusting all over the vehicle (was undercoated at the dealer
(using Rusty Jones).
2. Water pump went out.
3. Electronic ignition went out at 50,000 miles causing us to
also replace 2 starters.
4. Overdrive unit went out at 40,000 miles.
5. Radiator has developed a leak now.
6. And with the OVERDRIVE out, the engine HAS to work a LOT harder.
This truck is always serviced by Collins Olds G.M.C. Truck Dealer
or by myself.
Seems like this so-called truck has been a lemon since the day we
bought it.
It is my first (and sorry to say last G.M.C.) truck that we will
ever own. My 1979 Camaro which has over 140,000 miles on it has
been less of a pain than the 1985 truck.
Looks like to me since 1979 QUALITY has really dropped off.
My home computer systems don't break down as often as the truck
does, and they didn't cost near as muck and are used just as much
if not more than the truck is.
A lot of people talk to me each day asking me a lost of questions
like, "What kind of a truck should I buy?", "Which dealer will
provide the best service?". I hate to lie to them about the
G.M.C. Trucks. A lot of these people look to me to tell them the
truth. And in all honesty I can't lie to them about the lack of
Quality.
Chances are that this letter will fall on blind eyes or deaf
ears, I feel as though it should be brought to someone's
attention as soon as possible. Also will make my wife a little
more proud to drive her G.M.C. truck to work. I told my wife I
do all I could to bring it to the attention of the proper
personnel in charge. I learned to go right to the top in the
U.S. Military.
I remain hopeful that we can come to a reasonable solution to
this so-called truck.
Thank you for your time.
