  32.                DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  34.     Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  35.     before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and
  36.     continue using it, you are expected to register. Individual
  37.     programs differ on details -- some request registration
  38.     while others require it, some specify a maximum trial
  39.     period.  With registration, you get anything from the
  40.     simple right to continue using the software to an updated
  41.     program with printed manual.

  43.     Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial
  44.     software, and the copyright holder retains all rights, with
  45.     a few specific exceptions as stated below. Shareware
  46.     authors are accomplished programmers, just like commercial
  47.     authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In
  48.     both cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main
  49.     difference is in the method of distribution. The author
  50.     specifically grants the right to copy and distribute the
  51.     software, either to all and sundry or to a specific group.
  52.     For example, some authors require written permission before
  53.     a commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

  56.     You should find software that suits your needs and
  57.     pocketbook, whether it's commercial or Shareware. The
  58.     Shareware system makes fitting your needs easier, because
  59.     you can try before you buy.  And because the overhead is
  60.     low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate
  61.     money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the product, you
  62.     don't pay for it.

  67.     accept this disclaimer of warranty: pE is supplied as is.
  68.     The author disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied,
  69.     including, without limitation, the warranties of
  70.     merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.  The author
  71.     assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
  72.     which may result from the use of pE.

  74.     pE is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to
  75.     the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
  76.     friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part
  77.     of another system.  The essence of "user-supported"
  78.     software is to provide personal computer users with quality
  79.     software without high prices, and yet to provide incentive
  80.     for programmers to continue to develop new products.  If
  81.     you find this program useful and find that you are using pE
  82.     and continue to use pE after the 35 day trial period, you
  83.     must make a registration payment of $39 + $2.50  $(41.50)
  84.     to Just Excellect Software, Inc.  The registration fee will
  85.     license one copy for use on any one computer at any one
  86.     time.  You must treat this software just like a book.  An
  87.     example is that this software may be used by any number of
  88.     people and may be freely moved from one computer location
  89.     to another, so long as there is no possibility of it being
  90.     used at one location while it's being used at another.
  91.     Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at
  92.     the same time.

  94.     Commercial users of pE must register and pay for their
  95.     copies of pE within 30 days of first use or their license
  96.     is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made by
  97.     contacting Just Excellent Software, Inc.

  99.     Anyone distributing pE for any kind of remuneration must
  100.     first contact Just Excellent Software, Inc. at the address
  101.     below for authorization.  This authorization will be
  102.     automatically granted to distributors recognized by the
  103.     (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for shareware
  104.     distributors, and such distributors may begin offering pE
  105.     immediately (However Just Excellent Software, Inc. must
  106.     still be advised so that the distributor can be kept
  107.     up-to-date with the latest version of pE.

  109.     You are encouraged to pass a copy of pE along to your
  110.     friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register
  111.     their copy if they find that they can use it.  All
  112.     registered users will receive a copy of the latest version
