USING MARKS FOR FASTER EDITING
Marks are a method for quickly editing several outline
elements at one time. In order to use them effectively, you
will need to understand six operations.
A. To Mark an element,
position the cursor anywhere in the element to mark and
choose Mark/Unmark Outline Entry from the Outline, or use
the F2 quick key combination. A marked element will have
its numbering highlighted. Try marking this element.
B. To Unmark an element,
postion the cursor in a marked element and use the F2 key.
Note that this acts as a toggle between Mark and Unmark.
Mark this element, then unmark it.
C. To Copy marked elements to a new location,
Move the cursor to the element above and on the same level
as the location you want all marked elements copied to and
choose Copy Marks from the Outline Menu or the F9 Key. Try
this function below.
1. Mark and Copy this element
2. And Copy this element
3. Below this element
D. To Move marked elements to a new location,
Move the cursor to the element above and on the same level
as the location you want all marked elements copied to and
choose Move Marks from the Outline Menu or the F10 Key. Try
this function below.
1. Mark and Move this element
2. And Move this element
3. Below this element
E. To Indent marked elements,
choose Indent Marks from the Outline Menu or the F7 Key.
All but the first element on a level will be indented to a
lower level. Try this function below .
1. You cannot indent this element
2. But you can indent this element
3. And you can this element
F. To promote marked elements,
choose Promote Marks from the Outline Menu or the F8 Key.
Only the last element(s) on a level will be promoted to a
higher level. Try this function below.
1. If you marked this element
2. but not this element
3. and marked this element
Then only the third element would be promoted.
