C T A B O U T . D O C A brief summary of CT-Shell features:
---------------------
CT-Shell v2.00 is a DOS shell for Microsoft Windows 3. It brings the
functionality of traditional DOS shells (manipulating tagged files,
system information, launching programs with a menu interface, etc.) to
Windows, making it a better environment for many people to work in.
It was originally conceived as a programmer's shell, and it excells at
that task. In fact, CT-Shell itself was built by running Microsoft
C6.00a, CodeView for Windows, and all the SDK programming utilities
from CT-Shell, with the development done entirely within Windows!
Non-programmers, however, have as much reason to like CT-Shell as
programmers do.
CT-Shell provides a better-than-DOS command line, with command recall,
and handles most of the common DOS commands internally, so you don't
need to start a DOS session to use them. Many DOS commands are
enhanced, and some powerful new CT-Shell commands are added.
The CT-Shell menu interface provides a way for users to customize
their copies of CT-Shell in a very easy-to-use object-oriented
fashion. Incredibly powerful, the menu interface requires no
special programming background. The sample CTSHELL.INI file contains
a basic menu system with many examples users can follow in customizing
their own copies.
This evaluation version of CT-Shell is fully functional in all
respects. It differs from the registered version only in that it
displays a discrete registration reminder at startup, which can be
bypassed simply by pressing <Enter>. CT-Shell is not "nagware" nor is
it crippled in any way. The enclosed CTSHELL.WRI file contains every
word of the original registered version manual.
Installation is simple. The archive you received contains a Windows
program called CTINSTAL.EXE. From the directory where that and the
rest of these distribution files are stored, simply run CTINSTAL.EXE
and follow the instructions it provides. If you are installing over
an older version of the program, CTINSTAL will rename your old
CTSHELL.INI file to CTSHELL.OLD, so that it can install a new
CTSHELL.INI file that activates all the new features of version 2.00.
Detailed help is available from the Windows online help system, which
you can access from the HELP menu at the top of the CT-Shell window.
The manual contains warrenty, liability, and copyright information
that you will surely want to read. Enjoy CT-Shell!

Note that there are two copies of the CT-Shell documentation in this
archive: CTSHELL.WRI, which is a Windows Write document that includes
all the words and graphics from the registered-user manual, and
CTSHELL.TXT, a text-only document that was included because of user
requests for a file that can be scanned easily with a file browser.
