|Preface






  You may remember him older and fatter in Las Vegas with the dazzling
  white costume and all those tiny mirrors breaking up the spotlight
  like a thousand tiny lighthouses.  You may remember his great voice
  and his upper lift that curled to the left, but you may have
  forgotten that there was a very vulnerable little boy inside this
  public image, and what that little boy was thinking about the world
  was very much different from what the man had to live with.  I was
  never much of a fan of his, but now I was going to know him better
  than anyone else on the planet.  In this and the following dreams I
  had, Elvis and I held the series of discussions which would become
  the basis of this book.  Elvis has recently appeared to many
  thousands of people since his untimely death a decade ago, and I
  believe it was due to the fact that he had to get a few things off
  his chest before he could go on with his adventure in the
  after-life.  While living, his favorite slogan was, 'Taking care of
  business.' He always wore a silver medallion around his neck with
  this slogan engraved on it. This series of private appearances he
  made in my dreams is Elvis' way to take care of some unfinished
  business regarding the purpose of his life on Earth.

  Many people have asked me how I knew it was Elvis Presley and not
  just a figment of my dreaming imagination.  I can only respond by
  answering that question two ways.  First of all, I knew it was Elvis
  Presley because my dreams were more vivid than my waking state.
  Furthermore, he looked and acted and sounded just like him and I
  can't imagine how an Elvis impersonator, still alive, might be able
  to project himself into my dreams.  I can accept a dead person
  accomplishing it, however, because, only dead people are smart
  enough to figure out this kind of thing. Furthermore, I was never a
  real fan of his, so this is not the wishful thinking of an avid
  Elvis fanatic.  So, for all these reasons, I hope you can accept
  this situation as quickly as I did.  If you keep an open mind and
  read some of the truly amazing and wonderful things that Elvis told
  me, I'm optimistic  that you might also fall under his spell.

  The following dialogue between Elvis and myself is reproduced here
  exactly as it was recorded on a voice-actuated tape recorder.  This
  device would turn on and begin recording automatically with the
  first sound it heard which was always my own voice.  Elvis arranged
  it so that I would vocalize everything we both spoke so that the
  recorder would pick it all up.  When I awoke each day, I would
  transfer what was on the recorder to paper. Therefore, Elvis and my
  own words are faithfully reproduced here since I merely transcribed
  everything I found on the tape recorder immediately the next day.
  Over the course of the next forty evenings, I spoke with Elvis on
  many far-ranging topics, such as, politics, religion, consciousness
  the nature of all things and the origin of the universe and how the
  Creator keeps it all stuck together.




  We would meet in my dreams on the stage of the Civic Auditorium in
  Santa Cruz, California.  The 'Civic' was familiar to me and I
  believe that Elvis wanted to meet there because it was familiar
  territory to him as well. We would be standing on the stage of the
  Civic Auditorium with thousands of people sitting in their seats
  anxiously waiting for the concert to begin.  At first, I would be
  playing guitar and John Lennon, as well as Elvis and other friends
  would be singing with me.  I now believe that, although John Lennon
  never spoke to me, his presence was there to make me feel more
  comfortable with what was going to happen.  I think Elvis had
  scanned my consciousness and he realized that I admired John Lennon
  much more than I did Elvis.  So, he did what any good 'concert
  promoter' would do, he signed John Lennon as an opening act.  With
  all ego stripped from his consciousness, John did not seem to mind
  the second billing.  When we finished our song, I would go over to a
  set o f s placed strategically at the side of the stage and wait for
  the 'dream concert' to end.


  He would join me either right away or right after he finished his
  song.  Sometimes others would be playing or singing along with him.
  I remember seeing Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Billy Holiday, Janis
  Joplin, Richard Burton, Betty Davis, Marilyn Monroe, Jim Morrison,
  Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, and
  Bob Dylan would fade in and out as if he was expected to soon join
  the group permanently. On the first night of our discussions, I had
  written a song that Elvis and his backup group of fellow deceased
  musicians were playing it.  The feeling was overwhelming as I heard
  my own song and the great appreciation from the audience, which was
  quite apparent at the moment. This all made me quite relaxed in this
  role.  When it was over, he came over to my chair, rubbed the sweat
  off his forehead with his scarf and sat down.  He looked good.
  Apparently, when you're dead, you revert back to the best time in
  your life.  He had lost a ton of weight and he looked like he did
  when he was in his early twenties.

  And so, without further ado, I give you ...




|DREAM ONE





  "Am I dreaming all this?  I asked. "That's correct,"  he said.

  "What are you doing here?"  I asked.

  "I'm here to tell you the truth about the universe.  I know this is
  a bit unorthodox, but I've decided it's the only way to get through
  to you people. It's absolutely a miracle, you know.

  "What's a miracle?"  I asked, calmly.  Thus began the strangest set
  of dreams in my, or perhaps anyone's life.  I had that strange
  feeling of being in a dream and yet at the same time I knew that
  this was a very different kind of dream.  It seemed, in a way, more
  real than my waking state of existence.

  "It's a miracle that you're all alive to read these words here and
  now.  It's a miracle that I'm here to tell you these things.  It's a
  miracle that the universe exists just the same for each and every
  one of you.  By the way, it's no coincidence it's called the 'Uni -
  Verse' which literally means 'one way to say something'.  There
  really is only 'ONE' way. We're going to talk a great deal about
  what we call the 'ONE' in the next forty evenings.  I hope you're
  ready. I'm coming back in this way to let you all know about the way
  that things work in the universe.  Many of you should be quite
  surprised.  It's not at all like what they talk about in church.
  It's much nicer here than anything the Bible might suggest,"  he
  said.

  "How's that?"  I asked.  At first, I was just going through the
  motions of asking these questions.  I was paying attention to the
  weird and wonderful scene all around me.

  "There's no complaining, there's no pain, just the greatest kind of
  pleasure and everything is extremely happiness.  There's no Heaven or
  Hell and no choir of angels, just eternal peace, serenity, womb-like
  calm, safety, know what I mean? This is something I never had on
  Earth. None of you have it, really, until you get to this stage.
  I'm used to it now and I like it.  I don't want to come back to your
  state of existence, except in these dreams of yours.  You got all
  that?"  He asked.

  "Yes, I think so,"  I said. Then I realized that the scene was only
  intended to make me feel comfortable and alert.  I suddenly realized
  that I had so many questions he couldn't possibly answer them all.

  "What's it like to die?"  I asked.

  "It's very peaceful.  If there is pain involved in your death, it
  only lasts the briefest of moments. Then you find yourself in this
  magnificent tunnel of light and it grows and grows until you begin
  to understand everything all at once about life, death, the universe
  and everything else in between.  It makes you part of the universe
  in a wonderful harmonic way.  And the music?  Oh man, the music is
  the best part.  None of that 'Rock N' Roll' stuff up here.  Up here,
  we got the music that makes all other music seem like a kind of
  concrete soup, a very poor imitation," He said.

  I found this answer very interesting since this kind of thing had
  been corroborated by so many people who had these 'near death
  experiences'.  Almost all of them had seen this same tunnel of light
  and felt this great peace and tranquility.

  Then, Elvis told me how to use a voice-actuated tape recorder from
  now on and that I would speak both voices so that these discussions
  could all be transposed to paper the next morning.  I agreed to the
  terms and I remember feeling as though this were the most natural
  thing in the world.  It wasn't until after I woke up that I would
  find it strange or unusual in any way that Elvis would want to grant
  me this lengthy interview.

  He went on.

  "I want to start by telling my fans not to be so damned set on
  trying to get me to come back to the world of the living.  It's more
  painful than flattering.  I can't come back even if I wanted to and
  I don't want to. I know my place in Rock n' Roll is secure and I
  don't need to do any of it over,"  he said.

  "There is something that many people want to know. There's a new
  biography out about you and the writer claims that you committed
  suicide.  Is this true?"  I asked.

  "Yes and no.  When you place yourself in the control of drugs, you
  commit partial suicide right at that point in your life because you
  are relinquishing part of your will to the will of an artificial
  chemical.  There's an alien life form that takes control of your
  will.  You can't begin to take drugs without realizing that you're
  running away from your own consciousness and placing an alien one in
  its place,"  he said.

  "I was amazed that someone in your position would allow anything to
  get in the way of the fame and the money and all that success,"  I
  said.

  "I was amazed myself, when it was all said and done. You see, it
  starts off innocently enough. Something tells you that you're not
  like all the other dopers.  You can control it. You won't let it
  take over like it does with others.  You believe that you're exempt,
  immortal, different.  It feels good to relax and get high after a
  gig.  You're already lying to yourself, so the things it starts to
  do with your mind is totally credible.  The drug places its own set
  of rules, its own rationalization on top of your own.  That's why
  it's so evil.  We all need time to find our own rationale, our own
  true personality, but the personality of the drug takes us over.
  Drugs are mostly chemicals derived from plants and so it's a plant
  mentality superimposed on a Human one that makes it so dangerous.
  I'm glad you asked me this question,"  he said.

  "Why?"  I asked.

  "I'm glad because the drug problem on Earth is never going to go
  away until you all understand the reality of your situation down
  there,"  he replied.

  This was very interesting to me and I made a mental note to ask
  something about this after I had figured out a way to formulate the
  question.  Meanwhile, I came up with a different line of
  questioning.

  "Didn't you have the will to resist?" I asked.

  "No, I didn't apparently.  I had never known enough about the power
  of free will.  You're all going to have to learn a few more things
  about freedom.  If you are not totally free and independent, you're
  a parasite on someone or something.  The more perfect a concept, the
  simpler it is and this is the simplest of them all.  This is what
  the universe is all about. The structure of the universe is set up
  so that the free and the independent people, electrons, molecules,
  atoms, quarks, animals, any form of existence you care to name and
  on any level, gains the next highest level of this great force
  called freedom and love.  The two concepts are interchangeable.

  I'm going to demonstrate to you all how Freedom is the single
  greatest force in the Universe and is the concept that most of you
  have mistaken for 'God'.  I'm also here to tell you that there is no
  'God' in the sense that you have known it for thousands of years.
  The God of your primitive superstitions needs to be replaced by the
  God of Freedom, Will and the constant and absolute tendency for
  increasing the harmony in the universe.  I'm going to prove this to
  as many of you as I can before I'm through.  I will prove to you
  that you succeed in the universe only if and when you have made
  yourselves totally free,"  he said.

  "Interesting.  We've all heard the speeches of the politicians about
  freedom and democracy, but they of course have no idea about it,
  really. They pay lip service to it only,"  I said.

  "You see, the consciousness of each and every person is important to
  the success of the planet as a whole. Most of you know this
  instinctively, but it needs to be spoken for you.  The ecology of
  the Earth is in such desperate shape because of this single greatest
  flaw in your psyches.  You are unaware of your greatest power. You
  will find the power by participating in the harmony of all things.
  And, not to worry, I am going to teach you all about this concept of
  harmony and the Nature of the 'ONE',"  he said.

  "The ONE, I asked?"

  "The ONE is another word for the greatest power of freedom you will
  ever know." he said.

  "Why are you doing all this?"  I asked.

  "Well, it's a lousy job, but someone has to do it," he said. "Just
  look at the power of what you've already done for yourselves.  The
  Iron Curtain has fallen and Communism is dead without a single
  shot being fired. In all of history, this is a first!  It is the
  best chance at a completely new beginning.

  "Yes, I think this has caught many of our politicians by surprise,"
  I said.

  "The rate of change is rapidly gaining momentum. Your own technology
  is determining more and more the kind of reality that you will
  experience.  This trend will continue.  You are even putting more
  and more things into less and less space.  This is possible because
  all of Space and Time is an illusion.  It is an illusion that is
  being performed for you for a purpose.  You live in this illusory
  world we call the 'virtual world'.  The 'real world' lies several
  millions of light years away and yet it is as close as your
  heartbeat.  Science has already proven this concept yet has not
  given it a formal theory. I'm going to prove to you that if the
  universe is infinitely small, as modern physics tells you, and if it
  is infinitely large, as modern astronomy tells you, then there can
  be no 'real' distance between the two systems of infinity," he said.

  This caught me by surprise and kind of took my breath away.

  "Zero distance?" I asked.

  "Yes, everything in the universe is separated by absolutely nothing,
  or zero distance,"  he replied.

  "All that nothingingness has no distance?"  I wondered.

  "That's correct.  Everything in the universe, is both near and far
  and there is no such thing as distance. This means that your
  consciousness touches upon everything that is.  On the other hand,
  all that you see, all that you hear, all that you know, all that you
  want to see, want to hear, want to know is out there and it is
  expanding in direct proportion to the consciousness in the world.
  You are, in fact, a co-creator in the illusion," he said.

  "How could this be true.  We rely on so much of what our senses tell
  us is real and distance is one of those ways to measure them,"  I
  said.

  "Yes, but look at it this way.  Distances in the universe that you
  see with telescopes appears to be infinite in that direction.  There
  seems to be no end to it. At the same time, distances in the
  universe that you see with microscopes, atoms, quarks, etc. also
  appears to be infinitely small.  Now, if the universe is infinite in
  all directions from here, both in an outward and an inward
  direction, then this must be the center of it all because everything
  is equi-distant from you in all directions, right?"

  He asked. "Yes, I guess so.  I've never thought about it like that,"
  I said.  I thought about it for a minute and tried to image the
  astronomer and the nuclear physicist both looking in two different
  directions in space at the same time and both of them looking at
  infinity. One sees particles getting larger and larger, further and
  further apart, while the other sees particles getting smaller and
  smaller and closer and closer together.

  "Well, think about it, because it's true.  Now imagine yourself to
  be an intelligent creature on another planet several billion light
  years away.  This alien civilization's science comes up with the
  same laws and they realize that they must be at the center of the
  universe as well, follow?" He asked.

  "This smaller universe, though, it's not the same size as the one
  that the astronomer sees getting larger, is it?"  I asked.

  "Why not?  They both go off into infinity.  It's only a time factor
  that makes them seem different in some ways,"  he said.

  "The time factor?  How?"  I asked.

  "I'll get to that later.  It's too much for you to grasp until you
  have the rest of it.  Bear with me and don't forget your question
  about time, all right?"  He said.

  "I won't,"  I said.  "But what about this concept of two
  civilizations both being at the center of the universe?  How can we
  both be at the center at the same time?"  I asked.

  "It is impossible, isn't it, unless there were no real distance to
  'The Real World' and all of your experience a giant illusion.  It is
  impossible for all things to be at the center of the universe unless
  the universe contained an infinite amount of space so that all
  things could be considered the center, as they are.  It would be
  impossible unless consciousness itself were at the center of
  everything, because it is consciousness itself which can maintain
  this duality, this harmony between all things, both real and
  illusory.  Do you see it now?"  He asked.

  "I don't know yet. I'll tell you later.  My head aches with all this
  thinking.  My brain feels as if it was porridge.  I can see I'm
  going to have a great deal of work to do in the next few days,"
  I said.

  "Yes, you will.  I want to finish this evening's discussion by
  saying that nothing in the universe is an accident.  It is no
  accident that you're alive and I'm dead. It's no accident that all the
  countless numbers of galaxies spinning in space, each containing
  countless numbers of stars and planets like this are so arranged as
  to give you everything you need.  No matter how long civilizations
  may last, all of them will always have everything they need, no
  matter how far their consciousness may take them.  Your civilization
  is just beginning to use this great resource of the Mind.  No
  matter, where it takes you, you will always have the answers to your
  questions.  Every particle within the atom is there for your
  pleasure as well as every quark, every molecule, every proton and
  every neutron.  It's all for your entertainment pleasure.  None of
  this sparkling light show, none of the energies of Creation were put
  there just for the hell of it.  It was all put there for a purpose,
  and since you are part of this light show, you all have a purpose as
  well.  It's all part of the same grand play.  Like any play, the
  universe follows some very basic plot lines.  Learn the plot,
  follow the theme, use the rules, try to guess the ending and you
  will certainly learn how to live in perfect harmony with the forces
  in the universe that are there to give you everything you'll ever
  want or need.  Just remember that everything you lust after,
  everything you desire, everything you may want and need, or think
  you want or need, must be in harmony with the rest of the dreams,
  the desires of the rest of the world.  Everything you receive must
  be in direct proportion to everything you give because the harmony
  in the universe must always be in perfect pitch, perfect balance."

  He paused for a minute and drew several deep breaths.  He was tired,
  loosing his concentration, and so was I.  Then he went on.

  "Furthermore, you must learn to use all the things you are given more
  wisely and harmoniously.  You must find ways to use what you
  are given in such a way that you make your home, your community,
  your company, or even your planet a richer and better place for all
  living things instead of a place of death and decay. This is the
  first and the most basic concept in the universe.  The harmony, the
  tranquility of the universe, the distance from all things is
  measured from within each of you,"  he said.

  I was deep in thought about all these things and I could feel myself
  drifting away in Space while hanging on to these words and then a
  strange notion occured to me.  This was Elvis talking to me.  These
  were great ideas but they were coming from a dead Rock N' Roll
  legend.

  "How is it that you're the one to instruct us on this new level of
  consciousness?"  I asked.

  He seemed rather hurt by this question.

  "Yeah well, who did you expect, the Maharishi?"  He asked.

  "Well, not really.  It's just that ..."  I stammered.

  "It's just that you didn't think a Rock N' Roll legend would have
  anything more to offer, right?"  he said.

   "Well, I saw one of your movies on late night television the other
   day, and it was Godawful!"  I said.  I surprised myself with the
   memory of that movie.  It was called 'Kid Galahad', or something
   like that, a really nauseating film about a brat race car driver
   and all his cheap 'bimbo' love affairs.  I remember thinking that
   it was quite possibly the worst movie ever made.  It struck me that
   someone of Elvis' stature would get stuck in such garbage.

  "It just goes to show you kid, you can't always trust what you see
  and hear.  Everyone knows that a movie is just an illusion and yet
  millions of you flock to the theatres everyday to lose yourselves in
  the illusion.  The universe is just a great big 'movie' with
  millions of actors and actresses each playing their little bit parts
  and once in a while, some of us are called to play a 'starring' role.
  What most of you don't realize yet is that any single one of you can
  become a real 'Star', in the greatest sense of the word.  You just
  have to know the rules of the game, the 'tricks of the trade' so to
  speak.  And that's what I'm here to teach you are the 'tricks of the
  trade', the way the illusion of the greatest 'Movie' ever made works
  and why it works, and how you can use it to improve your lives, not
  just in the tiny little theatres, but in everyday life.  Does that
  sound all right to you?" he asked.

  "Yes, that sounds quite all right, Elvis,"  I said.

  Elvis began to fade from his chair on the stage. When I woke up, I
  was glad to see the familiar surroundings of my home and the view of
  the neighborhood through my bedroom window.  I was certain that I
  had taken the first step toward the most incredible journey of all
  my nights and days.  I was not sure if I had been dreaming then and
  was awake now or if I was dreaming now and this other state, the
  one with Elvis in it, was the real awakening which meant that I had
  now fallen asleep again to dream my life in chapters as brief and
  meaningless as were all my past days and nights.  I looked at my body
  lying there in the bed and I realized that it was simply a container
  of something called 'consciousness'.  I thought about all the
  strange activities I would have to perform today which, for the most
  part, were designed to sustain the survival of this container. There
  were very few things that we did in life designed to preserve its
  more precious contents.  Yet, there was no doubt in any of our minds
  which was more important.  This was the first of many ironies I
  would discover through my forty nights with Elvis.











|DREAM TWO






  The next day and night, I was filled with a dense, dark smog of
  foreboding.  Something terrible was going to happen.  We were in the
  desert.  It was unlike any desert I'd ever known.  There were sounds
  of animals and smells of people, dark, sweating people that made me
  feel as though we were in Hell.  We weren't in Hell, but we were on
  the Earth's closest facsimile to it.  There was an Israeli army unit
  moving slowly across the horizon, like a pack of elephants searching
  for water.  They had found the evidence they were looking for and
  they were bringing it back to Tel-Aviv. The Iraqi's had planted the
  desert with electronic homing devices for a primitive missile that
  would use the devices to home in on its target, which they could see
  by filling in the dots, was Tel- Aviv. The decision to make a
  pre-emptive strike against the Iraqi's was made after a two-hour
  conference at the highest levels of the Israeli government.

  They were unanimous in their decision and they knew that every
  minute counted, that the Syrians had equipped a primitive sort of
  missile with an atomic bomb and they knew that they intended to use
  it.  The latest discovery of the homing devices in the sand of the
  Negev desert was all the confirming information they needed. In the
  next few hours a plan was devised to equip a Mirage fighter with an
  atomic bomb sufficient to destroy the entire area around the Syrian
  base that housed the missile.  Syria, it was thought, had only one,
  and they knew where it was being kept.  The Israeli command knew
  that world opinion would be divided against them, but they also knew
  that world opinion was insignificant compared to the threat that
  the Iraqi's would use their one atomic bomb and missile to destroy
  the entire nation of Israel.  They had no defensive shield against
  it. Therefore, a pre-emptive strike, it was decided, was the only
  solution to their dilemma.  Diplomacy had failed, economic embargoes
  had failed, espionage and sabotage had failed.

  They would fly the fighter-bomber over the Iraqi city which housed
  the terrible secret weapon and drop their own secret weapon, one of
  hundreds in the Israeli arsenal, with a parachute attached and a
  triggering device that would not allow the bomb to go off until it
  reached an altitude of 3,000 feet.  This would give the pilot time
  to get far enough away from the blast to survive it.  Falling slowly
  via parachute, it would take five minutes for the bomb to reach its
  ignition altitude and by that time the fighter would be many
  hundreds of miles away, protected by several mountain ranges. They
  brief the pilot, prepare the jet plane, load the bomb and soon it's
  soaring past Elvis and me watching from the side of the runway.

  The Israeli military seem to know that we are there and I'm thinking
  that we are some kind of American advisors to the project, except
  that Elvis and I seem to be the only ones who know that what they
  are doing is incredibly dangerous.  I want to say so, but I can't.
  The fates have made me and Elvis witness to the most horrible event
  of all Mankind and all we can do is stand there mutely watching in
  terror. The pilot is soon over his target area a few miles from the
  city of Basrah in Iraq, a city situated in the middle of the Tigris
  and Euphrates rivers, a location long thought to be the birthplace
  of civilization eons before.  According to his instructions, he arms
  the bomb and makes his final bomb run over the innocent looking
  factory that houses the Iraqi missiles.  He pulls on the stick and
  his jet flies almost straight up to give him the altitude he needs
  to drop the bomb with parachute. At about sixty thousand feet, he
  pulls the lever that launches the bomb.

  Then he dives the plane away from the valley and into the mountains
  that will shelter him from the angriest storm Mankind knows how to
  unleash. Then a red light comes on amongst all the other instruments
  on his panel.  The bomb has not detached from the bottom of the jet
  plane.  Terrified, he looks at his altitude gauge.  He's only a few
  hundred feet from the detonation altitude of 3,000.  He jerks on the
  stick and the plane tears back toward the clouds.  The 'G' forces
  are so strong the pilot passes out for a few seconds. When he
  recovers his senses, he's back at sixty thousand feet and his
  engines are ready to stall in the oxygen starved air.  He pushes the
  stick forward and the plane begins to level off and fly normally for
  this altitude. The engine stall has been averted, but the red
  warning light like a scream to his oxygen starved brain is still
  flashing ominously. He sets the plane on a course for the middle of
  the desert.

  Then he hits the eject button.  There's nothing else to do.  All he
  can hope is that the plane will find its way out to the middle of
  the Arabian Sea or perhaps the Indian ocean before it runs out of
  fuel and the bomb detonates harmlessly.

  Elvis and I are aware of everything going on because we're hovering
  around near the airfield where the Israeli scheme was first begun.
  Now, we float gently in through the roof of one of the hangars and
  we find ourselves in the main command room.  Few of the faces
  express anything other than total disbelief and shock.  Some of them
  are for going after the jet with another jet to attempt to destroy
  it.

  Since the nuclear bomb is armed, most agree that nothing they can do
  will destroy the bomb, but only force the detonation at a different
  time that the laws of physics and chance are going to allow.  After
  much debate a chase plane is sent up to give chase and to inform the
  command center of the flight path of the runaway weapon. When it is
  apparent that the plane is headed for Pakistani airspace, an
  atmosphere of total panic spreads over the Israeli air base.  The
  jet will not run out of fuel until it is directly over the most
  highly populated part of Pakistan, another member of the 'nuclear
  club'. The immediate reaction is relief that the plane is not headed
  northward toward the Soviet Union, but soon, most of the Israeli
  commandos are thinking that it would have been better if it had.

  The Pakistani's the most fervent of all Muslim nations will not let
  this accident go by un-avenged and now suddenly the Israelis have a
  much larger problem to solve.  What to do if and when the Pakistanis
  discover who it was that killed hundreds of thousands of their
  people?

  The Israeli commanders, after many dark hours of deliberation decide
  that they must shoot down the plane and try to detonate the bomb
  over uninhabited desert regions before it reaches Pakistan.  This
  means that they will have to shoot it down somewhere in Iran.  Since
  Iran is yet to join the nuclear club, they decide this is a safer
  alternative than letting it explode somewhere over Pakistan.

  The chase plane is just about to catch up to the un-piloted mirage
  when the Iranians spot both planes on their radar scope and attempt
  to shoot them down with surface to air missiles.  As fate would have
  it they get the chase plane first and the explosion rocks the more
  dangerous planes just enough so that the second missile misses its
  target.  By this time, it is apparent to the Iranians that the
  un-piloted jet is headed out of their airspace and so they let it
  go, putting it all down to some Israeli trick to get them to waste
  two of their missiles. Dangling from his parachute, the chase plane
  pilot watches helplessly as the runaway crosses the border into
  Pakistan losing altitude rapidly.

  A few moments later, the mirage finally runs out of fuel, gradually
  loses altitude and its terrible cargo gets the signal to detonate
  precisely as programmed.  The bomb explodes over the city of
  Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan and home to some 20 million
  Muslim souls.  Most these souls are, at this terrible moment, bent
  over in evening prayers and the light of the first atomic bomb
  exploded by accident is witness to millions of calloused souls
  protruding from the backsides of their respective owners.

  As soon as the explosion is confirmed by American spy satellites,
  the Israeli commanders start to make plans surrounding the problem
  of what to do when the Pakistani military learns of the source of
  the attack on their capital.  The Israelis know that the Pakistanis
  have intermediate range missiles, dozens of them, tipped with
  hydrogen bombs similar in design to their own.  If only a few of
  these missiles are targeted already on Israel, and they are
  launched, the future of I s limited to just a few short minutes. An
  appeal is made to Washington D.C., but the American President, just
  waking up, cannot believe what has happened.

  When his advisors assure him of the fact that an Israeli nuclear
  weapon has just wiped out nearly 20 million people by accident, his
  first reaction is to strangle the Israeli Ambassador, waiting
  nervously in the anteroom. The Pakistani reaction is far more severe
  than that of the American President for they know immediately
  through the international spy network that the bomb that was dropped
  on them was Israeli, but in their haste to find a culprit they are
  given the erroneous information that the bombing was intentional,
  the greedy pursuit of an anti-arab policy that would begin by
  destroying the Pakistani nuclear capability.

  The fact that the Israelis have not hit one of their military bases
  does not matter to them.  The only thing that matters is that Allah
  shall be avenged.  They launch a salvo of fifteen missiles in the
  direction of Israel, any one of which is totally capable of
  destroying the entire nation of 7 million Israeli souls. The
  devastation is so thorough and so quick that nothing can escape the
  fires.  Buildings, people, animals, roads, forests are wiped clean
  off the face of the Earth as if the hand of God had done it for
  reasons only a God might know.

  For several days after the end of Israel, the Arab nations
  celebrate.  Notwithstanding the 20 million dead Pakistanis, to the
  Arab world, it's as if Allah's will had been done.  Their centuries
  old enemy is completely gone.  It matters little that some of the
  most arable lands for several hundred miles in all directions will
  stand useless and will kill anyone foolish enough to venture there
  for thousands of years.

  Plans are made to move several Arabian cities several hundred miles
  away from the deadly fallout.  All in all it is a terrific victory
  for the Muslim world.  The 20 million dead Pakistanis are looked
  upon as martyrs. The rest of the world is in a complete state of
  shock.

  Nowhere is the shock felt more deeply than in the United States.
  Almost everyone knows at that precise moment that the world is in
  terrible danger of total insanity and panic.  The fear is that
  somehow the terrible events of the past few days will be contagious.
  And their fears prove to be correct.  Despite immediate all-out
  efforts on the part of the diplomats in the United Nations, the
  Indian government decides that to have a nuclear power so close to
  their borders is not to be tolerated any longer.

  While bidding for peace in the halls of the United Nations, the
  Indian military command launches two hundred nuclear warheads
  towards the rest of Pakistan.  The desert for thousands of miles
  glows red for weeks.  The fallout will kill millions of Indians in
  their own country for months. And it doesn't end there.

  The Chinese, decide shortly after the Indian strike that they are
  not too happy to have an insane nuclear power at their door and so
  they in turn launch several thousand nuclear warheads toward India.
  Never before in history have so many people been killed in such a
  short time. In fact, more people are killed in India alone that in
  all the previous wars in all of recorded history.

  But, it's just the beginning, Ivan Karanova an obscure commander of
  a nuclear missile base in Siberia, and also a member of the Mafia,
  decides to retaliate against the Chinese.  Single handedly, he is
  able to muster nearly 20 thousand nuclear warheads through secret
  alliances with other Mafia dons all over the old Soviet Union.

  The Chinese are completely caught off guard. They had long abandoned
  any notion that the Soviets were a threat to them since their huge
  bureaucratic centralized government had long since collapsed.  The
  missiles had never been destroyed however, and were temporarily left
  under the authority of military commanders whose new loyalty to
  organized crime has become the new nationalism.

  It's hard to imagine today what it is like for a planet to suddenly
  lose over half of its total population, but this is precisely what
  happened in the space of only a few days.  The United Nations would
  be almost wrecked in the pandemonium which followed.  The
  ambassadors from the devastated nations were extremely busy trying
  to find words that would convey their sense of loss to the rest of
  the world now glued to their television sets trying to guess what
  would happen next.




  "How did you do that, Elvis?  I mean it was something like a movie
  and something like a dream, but it wasn't really anything like any
  movie or any dream I've ever had.  What did you do, put some kind of
  spell on me?"  I asked.

  "It's zero distance.  Because I'm part of
  the 'ONE' now, I'm able to use the physics of what I know to teach
  you something about the future,"  he said.

  "So, it's like you said last night, exactly like you said, that
  everything is like a giant movie,"  I said, just getting into the
  night's discussion and trying to unattach from the scenes we had
  just witnessed.

  "Yes, that's exactly right.  Everything is done with the flickering
  of the light, in a similar way that the movie camera makes the
  frames of the photographs fly past so fast, they all blur into one
  long motion piction.  So it is with the universe.  I will prove
  later, and give your scientiest the mathematical proof they need for
  you to realize the full significance of your puny little lives.
  It's all a series of 'On' and 'Off'.  The flickering of these lights
  in the sky is the basis of what you see and hear and feel and this
  is what you call reality.  But your lives are all a wonderful
  illusion, just as the movies are,"  he said.

  "So, this is our future?"  I asked.

  "It's one of the infinite possibilities,"  he said.

  "I see.  Well, it was certainly convincing.  I'm glad it hasn't really
  happened,"  I said.

  "Don't celebrate yet,"  he said. Suddenly in the midst of all this
  carnage, I wanted to know more about what it felt like to be dead.

  "What did it feel like when you died?"  I asked.

  "There was this light feeling.  I was above myself, floating in the
  room above my body.  I saw my brother come in and discover my body.
  I felt sorry for him.  He seemed so desperately lonely without me.
  It was very strange.  I didn't care about myself any more.  I just
  wanted everything to be all right for the ones I had left behind,"
  he said.

  "You weren't lonely at all?"  I asked.

  "No, hell no!  When I left my body, I suddenly felt as though I was
  surrounded by love coming from all directions.  There was no time to
  feel loneliness or hunger or anger or pain or even pleasure.  It was
  just this great feeling of relief.  It was like a great escape from
  something terrible.  I didn't have to worry about my body any more.
  I never realized what kind of a cage a body can be.  Without it,
  you're totally free, in a sense that can't be described in words,"
  he said.

  "Many people who have near death experiences say that there's
  this 'light' at the end of a tunnel that beckons them forward.  Was
  it like that?"  I asked.

  "Yes, very much at first.  There is this energy.  It's not exactly a light.  It's the center of the universe.
  It's glowing with energy of all kinds, not just light. There's heat,
  warmth, love, all kinds of emotion you don't get to feel as a living
  being.  But it is a kind of a light.  It's all the colors of the
  spectrum that you've never seen on Earth.  There's a peacefulness
  and an acceptance.  It's a power of attraction and acceptance that's
  greater than anything else in the universe. And above all of this,
  there's this knowing that we're all part of 'IT', and 'IT' stands
  for Infinite Time.  When alive, we have one kind of role to play and
  when we're dead, there's another kind of a role to play and it's all
  part of this thing that can only be called Cosmic Consciousness.
  In life you have this lower level of consciousness and then all of a
  sudden the stakes are raised to new levels.  There's no worrying
  about it, no having to think about it, it just is,"  he said.

  "Why have you come back to tell us all this?"  I asked.

  "I told you last night.  I have some things that I want to teach
  you. You'll have to learn some new tricks if you're going to
  survive. The next few years and the next few centuries are likely to
  bring about more change than ever before and you have to know
  certain things in order to get past all the problems,"  he said.

  "But why were you chosen to tell us all this? Why not John Lennon or
  Einstein or someone like that?"  I asked.

  "Honestly, I don't know.  Except that those people had their chance
  to say something good and powerful and wonderful and they did it
  beautifully.  I never had my chance.  I mean, I had it, but I blew
  it.  When I was alive, I actually thought that John Lennon and the
  Beatles were a Communist threat and I even went to Washington and
  tried to talk J. Edgar Hoover into having them followed.  Now, that
  I know better, I realize what a fool I was.  I had a position of
  such power to mold minds, mend fences and I blew it.  I think this
  is why I've been chosen.  I've been given another chance.  I have a
  unique position in the universe. For some reason, millions of people
  want to hear from me again.  So, here I am,"  he said.

  "So, what are you here to say, Elvis?"  I asked.

  "I want to say that life is so precious that you mustn't throw it
  to the wind like I did. Protect it.  Preserve it. Use it for good
  purpose. Worship it. Celebrate life.  Make it the most important of
  all your priorities. Watch it closely.  Study it some more. Realize
  the consciousness in all things.  Safeguard it.  Make the Earth a
  haven for life, not the destroyer of life.  In all the universe
  there is nothing more sacred to the Creator, I know this now.  When
  you become a part of life, you become a part of the Creation force
  yourselves.  And there is no higher 'high' than this.  Life stems
  from a force stronger than all the other forces out there and it's
  sacred.  Since it stems from the mightiest of all forces, it is to
  be cherished, treasured above all other things you come to know,"
  he said.

  "You sound like a preacher, Elvis,"  I said.

  "Yeah, sort of like Jerry Lee Lewis in reverse, huh?  No, I'm not
  preaching, but I hope I'm teaching.  It's like the song that got me
  famous, 'Love Me Tender'.  There's a line in there about 'All my
  dreams, fulfilled.'  Well, that's what you can have if you try hard
  enough and study what I'm trying to teach you all here.  Life is
  nothing but a dream and to have them fulfilled, you have to know
  about the biggest dream of all.  The dream of the universe that the
  Creator is dreaming all the time.  You see, the universe is just a
  switch in His mind.  He turns the universe off and on and it's so
  fast that we're tricked into believing in the whole thing as real,
  but it isn't.  Just like the guy in the movie theatre sees all those
  millions of still photographs being shot past his eyes on the screen
  so fast that they all blur together to make up a movie.  So it is
  with the Creator.  He uses this kind of thing to make us all happy.
  If you want to achieve the ultimate happiness, just follow along
  with me, please.  Just keep an open mind and follow along.  This is
  only the second night of our dreaming together and already, I've
  given you so much of the truth.  Keep asking those questions.  Keep
  your mind open and it will all come together, I promise,"  He said.

  He reached down and a glass of water appeared in his hand.  He took
  a sip and I was struck by the fact that a person could get thirsty
  even in a dream.

  "Can you explain to me what all these pictures were about with the
  nuclear bombs exploding and all that horror all over the world?"  I
  asked.

  "Those are simply moving images that I've planted in your brain
  while you dream.  These movies are meant to illustrate a part of
  what I am telling you.  It is the future that I am showing you," he
  said.

  "You mean these events are events that are going to happen no matter
  what we do to avoid them?"  I asked.

  "It's one future of many possible futures. Everything in the future
  is a function of probabilities.  This kind of thing could happen or
  something much worse could happen.  It's all part of the freedom you
  can exercise over the world.  This freedom is the kind of thing you
  have to learn more about.  This is why I'm here.  I want you to
  learn about freedom so that you put it to positive use instead of
  negative use like all this destruction I've just shown you.  You can
  avoid this potential future, but first you must learn about the
  truth,"  he said.

  "That's a pretty tall order, truth,"  I said.

  "That's correct, but with my help you are going to learn how to sort
  out the partial truths, the untruths, from the whole and completely
  beautiful truths.  You are going to rid the human race of the worst
  crime against humanity, fuzzy thinking,"  he said.

  "That's interesting. You think you can do all that for us?"  I
  asked.

  "This is why I'm here,"  he said.

  "I see.  Just what exactly is 'fuzzy thinking'?"  I asked.

  "It's the kind of thinking that stands in the way of progress and
  growth of consciousness,"  he said.

  "You know, you've used that word a great deal lately.  What exactly
  is consciousness?"  I asked.

  "By the time we're through with these dreams, you'll be able to
  answer that question much better than I can here and now,"  he said.

  "And why should people believe you or anything that you have to say
  here in my dreams?"  I asked.

  "You don't want me to steal my own thunder, but in future dreams,
  I'm going to spill it all.  I'm here to tell you all about the way
  the universe works because it's time you learned about it all.
  You're no longer in your childhood.  As a civilization, you've
  entered adolescence and it's late adolescence and adulthood is right
  around the corner.  The faster we can reach it, the better are the
  chances for the survival of life on Earth.  But I have to tell you,
  the Earth can no longer be left in the care of children.  The way
  you are destroying your home is just terrible.  You don't really
  understand it until you get out here and look at the problem from
  this perspective,"  He said.

  "So it's really that bad?"  I asked.

  "It's that bad.  The odds greatly favor catastrophe on Earth right
  now and together we are going to put the odds back in the correct
  proportion to where life should be at this time in this place,,"  he
  said.

  "What do you mean by 'together'?"  I asked.

  "All of you reading these words are part of the 'ONE', the
  'together' I'm speaking about.  The problems are so big that the
  solution requires the combined consciousness of all the billions of
  Earth's inhabitants working in harmony to solve them,"  he said.

  "And it's possible to unite all our minds like that?"  I asked.

  "They are already united.  It's only that you don't open the mind to
  it that you don't see it.  But you will.  I'm going to show you how
  and it will become a real thing, something you all take for granted
  by the end of this millennium,"  he said.

  "Wow!"  was all I said.  I felt more than just 'Wow'.  But that's
  all I could get my voice box to utter.

  Then, I started to feel a great rising up of the feeling he was
  describing.

  "What is this 'ONE', you've mentioned?"  I asked.

  "Ah, yes, well, we're going to talk a great deal about the ONE in
  dreams to come.  Right now, it's almost morning.  Your body is
  starting to wake from out of its slumber and I have other duties
  calling me.  I'll be back tomorrow night and for a total of forty
  nights.  By then, you will have all your questions answered,"  he
  said.

  "Don't go yet. I have so many questions,"  I said.

  "For now, just remember that you all have free will. You were given
  free will for a reason.  Nothing happens in this magical universe
  without a reason.  You must use this will and this reasoning power
  of yours to rid yourselves of the forces of evil for they are
  gaining on you and piling up a greater charge than all the positive
  forces on Earth can muster against it. It's your free will that will
  save you.  Just remember this for tonight,"  he said.

  The stage began to dissolve in front of me.  I quickly woke up to
  the sunshine of the third day of my new life.  I didn't realize it
  at the time, but life had changed for me so completely that I would
  never be able to accept 'reality' for what it always had been.  I
  would be walking around on a completely changed planet.  I could
  feel this now.  I couldn't put any new ideas into practice just yet.
  Somehow, that didn't matter. I was going to do precisely what Elvis
  told me to do.  I would go about my business of the day exercising my
  free will and enjoying every glorious minute of it.  What he was
  saying made more and more sense and I knew this was just the beginning.








|DREAM THREE





  When threatened like this, the American military defense system and
  the Soviet systems go into full alert.  It's automatic.  When the
  Soviet missiles rise from their silos to attack China, the
  American defensive system regards this attack as an attack on the
  United States.  The American retaliatory strike is swift and severe.
  But by the time the ten thousand warheads are halfway to their
  Soviet targets, the Soviet system has responded automatically and
  has launched a full re-retaliation against their American targets.
  It seems like the worst nightmare of my life and yet it all seems so
  real.

  It's all happening inside my dream on the third night of my
  encounter with Elvis.  But on another level, I'm aware that it is
  happening in the real future of Earth.  It is one of those probable
  futures that Elvis spoke of.  And it's not far away.  This is the
  most frightening part for me.  I know that it is real, that all
  these events are happening, that they are removed from everyone
  else's reality only by a matter of days, weeks, months, who knows.
  The Soviet submarines have destroyed all the cities along both
  coasts of the U.S. and their land based ICBM's have destroyed all
  cities and military bases inland.  The Russian submarines are soon
  destroyed by the American navy, but only after they launch their
  own lethal weaponry.

  Despite all the best efforts of the American navy, they can only
  locate a Russian submarine after the horse is out of the barn, so to
  speak, because they are now extremely 'hot' from the radiation that
  their missiles give off as they are launched from their underwater
  silos.  The same thing happens to the American submarine fleet.
  Despite all assurances that our subs could never be detected by
  Soviet ships, the experts had never counted on the radiation trail
  left by the missiles after firing.  Soon, it's as quiet under the sea
  as it is on land.  President Reagan's 'Star Wars' defensive shield
  and the Soviet's extremely clumsy, but equally effective counter
  measures have resulted in the complete destruction of the Northern
  Hemisphere.

  The fallout will soon cover all portions of the Earth that have not
  been targeted directly by the thousands of warheads that have
  exploded over all major cities and bases.  The Southern hemisphere
  will be spared for a matter of months since it takes that long for
  the atmosphere to circulate the deadly poison to that half of the
  Earth.  Even if they could find an antidote to the radiation,
  however, all life will die due to the 'Nuclear Winter' that is
  rapidly gripping the Earth. The plant life that survived the direct
  effects of the explosions is first to go, both in the ocean and on
  land.  With the sun's life-giving rays cut to a small fraction of
  what it used to be, there is no escape for all living things except
  some of the most adaptable of the insect species.

  Soon, all life in the ocean is gone. With the death of the plant
  life, the fish and the animals that depend on this vegetation are
  starved to death. The predators in some of the far-away corners of
  the Earth survive a little longer because there is plenty of rotting
  flesh for them, but even they are doomed to die from the radiation
  growing worse and worse even in the most secluded parts of the
  globe.  Even the North and South Poles are made uninhabitable by the
  winds of war. The dust that cuts off the sun's rays continues to
  swirl in the upper layers of the atmosphere and turns the beautiful
  blue planet into a grey ashen cinder.  The weather satellites spared
  by the war, circle the Earth and send back pictures of the worst
  storm in the history of the planet to receiving stations that have
  burned up long ago.  There is no more rain and since there is no more
  rain, there are no more rivers or lakes.  Most of the Earth's oceans
  freeze over solid.

  There is only one place on Earth where there is any hope for life,
  the one place that has been completely converted from Paradise to
  Hell, may someday be considered a true paradise, an Eden, once
  again.  The Island of Hawaii, due to all the volcanic power of Queen
  Pele, melts the ice sheets all around the islands and creates a sort
  of living fossil of the old civilization.  Life deep within the
  ocean is already adapting to the lack of light and there are animals
  of incredible beauty and intelligence who are even now learning how
  to cope and live off the ocean's very meager and now frozen
  resources.

  The dolphin leader Amaricci, is gathering his troops around him.  It
  has been an extremely difficult journey from the warm and fertile
  seas of the mediterranean.  For days that stretch into months, there
  is no sign of life, there is no sunlight filtering down through the
  surface of the ocean.  Something has gone terribly wrong with the
  planet and the dolphin leader has gathered together a 'family' of
  nearly three hundred surviving dolphins to make a journey of unknown
  duration.  He doesn't know exactly where to lead his tribe of
  dolphins males and females and a few dozen calves.  He only knows that
  there is a stirring deep within him that gives him just a quantum
  more confidence than the other male dolphins and so the rest
  follow him.  He knows also that there is little to be found here in
  the Mediterranean and later he finds little to sustain them in the
  Atlantic.  They have enough fat reserves to last them for a few
  weeks and then they will starve.

  Half of them will starve along the way.  The troop stops at each
  death and they hold a dolphin ceremony for the dead.  They circle
  around the corpse for several orbits and sing to each other as the
  body of their friend sinks slowly into the dark depths of the ocean.
  Whenever a calf is made an orphan by one of these deaths, another
  family comes forward and adopts the orphan.  There is almost no milk
  left in the female breasts, but there is a meager residue of dead
  fish in the ocean that they are able to find along the way.

  And so they are sustained until they reach the Hawaiian Islands.
  They are lead there by a gradually increasing temperature in the
  water. Extremely sensitive organs on their skins guides them just as
  radar would guide a missile to its target.  When they finally
  arrive, they find food in abundance, for all other manner of fish
  has found its way to these relatively warm waters as well. It's a
  small universe of only a few hundred square miles that is warmed by
  the volcanic action of Mt. Kilahuea almost totally replacing the
  heat of the sun. The dolphins are cold most of the time, but at
  least here they can acquire enough nutrition to keep body and soul
  together.  How long these conditions will exist, none of them, not
  even their feckless leader has a clue.



  "Elvis, is this the real future of Earth?"  I asked.

  "On Earth's present course, the probability is greater than any
  other,"  He replied.

  "I see.  You know, I think it's very strange that you would keep
  coming to me in my dreams and this kind of movie is playing in my
  head and then you appear right out of nowhere.  How do you do it?"
  I asked.

  "Zero distance means that there is no distance between anything in
  the real world and that consciousness is the center of everything.
  By moving through this center, I can show you anything, do
  anything,"  he said.

  "I see.  Well, won't our governments prevent such a scenario from
  happening?"  I asked.

  "Throughout all of history, governments have proven that rather than
  prevent disasters, they cause them.  You know that.  You've studied
  history, haven't you?"  He asked.

  "Yes, I see your point. What the hell can we do, then?"  I asked.

  "You must begin to build a world organization that would have as its
  utmost priority, the preservation of the Earth.  You can set up
  National Parks and game preserves in order to rescue a few acres of
  habitat for animals, why not a preserve for all life on the planet
  including your own.  It's just a step further than you have gone
  before in the realm of preserving life on Earth," he said.

  "You really think that we could put aside enough of our differences
  to accomplish such a thing?"  I asked.

  "Of course you can.  All you need is a little leadership, a little
  imagination, a little spirit of adventure.  You're all up to that,
  aren't you?"  he asked.

  "You know, when you first started coming into my dreams, I thought
  that you were going to talk about Rock- N-Roll and stuff like that,
  but instead you're talking about all this heavy, profound stuff like
  government and metaphysics and it's very weird, man, very weird for
  me right now,"  I said.

  "Don't you think it's weird for me too?  I've only been dead for a
  few years and people have been seeing me in their local drug stores
  and supermarkets.  It's not fair.  I've tried to do this dead gig.
  I've tried to have people forget me and they refuse. Everywhere you
  go there are Elvis souvenirs, Elvis retrospectives, Elvis mementos,
  Elvis tours of my old home.  It's weird for me too, kid,"  he said.

  "Elvis, there's a book out now about you claiming that you committed
  suicide when you took that overdose of drugs.  I was just curious,
  is it true?"  I asked.

  "It's half true.  When I was shooting all that stuff up my arm, I
  came to the point where I didn't care if I lived or died.  If I
  overdosed on purpose or not, wasn't important and isn't even now.
  The sad fact is that the drugs fix it so you don't care what happens
  to you,"  he said.

  "How does that happen to a person like you, Elvis? I mean you had it
  all, money, power, women,"  I said.

  "That's true.  See, it's like this.  Like all addictions, drug
  addiction makes everything else unimportant.  Drugs actually have a
  consciousness all their own.  Most drugs come from plants and so
  what you experience when you take this stuff is the consciousness of
  plants.  Plants don't have the same kind of worries and desires and
  so forth that we animals have and so it seems like you're high when
  you take it, but in reality you've placed your consciousness on a
  much lower plane of existence, to that of plants.  You actually take
  something as beautiful and complex as a Human soul and you lower it
  to the level of a weed. It's pretty stupid, but, that's why they
  call it 'dope'. It is an addiction and it feels good because plants
  have nowhere near as complicated a life as you Humans, so when
  you're in their consciousness, everything seems so simple, but it's
  not meant to be that simple for Human Consciousness.  And that's
  where you have all these problems,"  He said.

  "So, you're on an anti-drug campaign?" I asked.

  "In a way.  I'd rather put it in the positive.  I'm on a pro-life
  campaign.  See, I'm going to teach you all about the reality out
  there in space and inside of you all.  It's a wonderful thing.  It's
  an amazing thing. It's a totally mind-blowing concept.  The greatest
  part is that it's all very easy to understand if you have a guide
  like me, someone who's been there, know what I mean?"  He asked.

  "I think I do,"  I said.

  "You've got to understand something very essential to your survival
  now.  It's something every man and woman past the age of puberty
  needs to know and needs to think about every day.  You have to get
  something straight right now.  If you let the Earth die, you are all
  to blame and you will pay for this ultimate neglect and stupidity.
  The good news is that I'm going to show you a possible way out of
  this terrible future which I am also outlining for you in these
  parallel dreams of yours.  The terrible, unthinkable, incredibly
  awful things of the future can and will happen if you don't all do
  exactly as I tell you here. It's not enough to go to church on
  Sundays.  It's not enough to have good intentions and keep a good
  thought.  In this century you have learned more about the power of
  positive thinking than at any other time.  And you've also learned
  more about evil than ever before.  What I'm going to give you is a
  personal key to that very same power that will turn this power into
  something more real to you, more tangible to all of you than Mom,
  apple pie and automobiles.  We're going to reverse the trend toward
  the evil and back toward the good side of things," he said.

  "How can something like positive thinking be that important to most
  people?"  I asked.

  "How did television become so important?"  he replied.

  "Television?  You mean positive thinking could become as much a part
  of reality as television?"  I asked.

  "That's correct, and it has to happen soon,"  he replied.

  "But how could something as obtuse and ethereal as positive thinking
  ever be as big as TV?  Everyone loves TV and we all watch an average
  of five hours per day,"  I stated.

  "At one time Television was obtuse and ethereal too, and now it's
  taken for granted.  But if you you devoted just one tenth of the time
  devoted to watching TV to watching your consciousness expand, the
  safety of your species would be assured for all eternity,"  he said.

  "But how can we make this come about?"  I asked.

  "Don't try to make it happen, just will it to happen and it will
  happen,"  he said.

  "Huh?"  I said.

  "Many times, you try too hard to do something.  That's when
  everything you do is counter-acted by opposite forces.  But if you
  use the power of the will, you will find positive thinking is just a
  natural outgrowth of this, and soon, you will be in contact with
  millions of others who think just as you do.  At this stage, the
  global Consciousness of which we speak will be a total reality and
  nothing any government can attempt will overwhelm this power,"  he
  said.

  "Man, that sounded great, but I don't really follow you yet,"  I
  said.

  "It's all part of the ONE, great force.  What I'm telling you about
  television, will power, positive thinking, global Concsiousness, is
  all one in the same thing.  Remember there is zero distance between
  all things in this universe.  Everything is actually the product of
  time mixed in with a little energy.  That's all there is to 'IT'.
  Give something, anything, a little time and a little energy and
  you'll be amazed at what feats of magic you can perform with these
  two simple ingredients,"  he said.

  "How are they related?"  I asked.

  "They both use the principle of transmission and reception of waves,
  waves which move through the atmosphere through a principle of
  induction.  If you want to find out how truly miraculous things can
  happen, you have to study induction,"  he said.

  "What's induction?"  I asked.

  "When a signal is sent from the transmitter at the TV station, it
  travels by means of a wave.  But an electronic wave is not like the
  waves in the ocean.  A television or a radio wave or a wave from the
  sun or from a star travels in a kind walking through nothing.  First
  the electric force unfolds a bit and it would stop almost exactly
  where it started from except that this electrical field induces
  another kind of wave, a magnetic field, and the electrical field is
  pushed a tiny bit forward where it repeats its wave-like motion, and
  then this motion induces a magnetic field and this magnetic field
  induces an electrical field and so it goes repeating the process
  countless numbers of times until the 'signal' finally gets to your
  receiver in your television set,"  he said.

  "So you're saying that consciousness goes around the universe
  using this same method of propagation?"  I asked.

  "That's correct,"  he said.  "But it's not enough to just receive
  the signal.  You all receive the signal from your neighbors, but few
  of you have learned to 'get the picture',"  he said.

  "How do we 'get the picture'?"  I asked.

  "Your television set shows you the picture when it resonates to the
  signal that is sent from the transmitter or from the cable company.
  You can get the picture of consciousness when you learn to resonate.
  This means your will power has to be in tune to the transmissions of
  Consciousness,"  he said.

  "This is something we can learn to do?"  I asked, trying to find my
  resonator button in my mind.

  "Yes, you will learn it when you understand that it is something
  very pleasurable and useful.  That's all that needs to happen for
  you to learn how to use it,"  he said.

  "It's pleasurable?  How is this pleasurable?"  I asked.

  "Everything in good time,"  he said.

  "And you're going to teach us how to do this?"  I asked.

  "That's correct,"  he said.  "That's all for now.  Signing off until
  next time."

  I woke up completely refreshed and mentally exhausted all at the
  same time.  I don't think I was ready to believe that I was being
  influenced by Elvis Presley's spirit, but I, as yet, had no other
  explanations that made sense and this one held the greatest promise.
  Everything he was telling me was completely new, refreshing and
  original and so it had to be coming from somewhere outside my own
  consciousness.  I decided to play along for the next several nights
  just to see what would happen.







|DREAM FOUR







  Ricci, the dolphin leader did not know how or why any of these
  changes had come about so suddenly, but he was aware that it was
  imperative that he do everything in his power to save his troop from
  the total destruction everywhere else on Earth.  It was the deepest
  part of his survival instinct that made him use his brain to its
  utmost capacity.  While the rest of his herd played and swam and
  carried on their society as best they could, Ricci, would lie
  motionless for hours at a time trying to reason out what to do about
  the future of his species.

  It was all so new to him.  He didn't even know where to begin in his
  quest.  He knew only that there had been warm, tranquil waters all
  over the Earth in which he and his friends could live and play in
  total freedom and now it was gone.  Their only danger had been the
  gill nets and the pollution, the former which trapped many of his
  friends and the latter which had poisoned many more.


  He had caught a few glimpses of creatures in the boats who stood
  tall on two legs and who lashed out at his drowning compatriots and
  who seemed so callous, so unconcerned about their plight.  At times
  they would even take long poles with sharp ends and pierce their
  flesh to kill them in an even more horrible manner than drowning.
  He remembered seeing the sea stained red with the blood of his
  mother, father, aunts, uncles, cousins.

  Somehow, he knew deep inside that it must be these devils who had
  destroyed their beautiful warm planet, turning it into a solid
  sphere of ice and ash.  He knew also that they had probably not
  survived this destruction.  He felt little consolation that the
  culprits had been destroyed.  He would much rather have his old home
  back and live in the hopes that these creatures would soon evolve
  into a more compassionate species as the dolphins had done millions
  of years before these two legged land-dwellers had come on the
  scene.

  Ricci considered all the knowledge at his command and he
  continuously turned it over and over in his mind. His language was
  limited and so he saw all these thoughts as pictures and symbols as
  dolphins do with all things. As the pictures and symbols swirled
  around in his brain, they started to make new symbols, new pictures
  that were the precursor for a new dolphin language.  It all added up
  to a solution for the future, so that this kind of catastrophe would
  never happen again.

  If he could only find a way to convey these new symbols to the other
  members of the herd.  They must all be made to understand so that
  they could pass it on to all their future generations who would
  struggle to survive in these limited waters given them by the grace
  of a creature for whom Ricci had no symbol.  He felt a very warm
  place in his heart for the creature that had lead them here to this
  spot and the one who had the wisdom to spare their species and a few
  hundred others so that they might re-claim this place someday.  The
  creature made itself known to Ricci through the new symbols he was
  receiving.  There was no other explanation in his mind.  He knew
  that he was not intelligent enough to make it up as he went along.
  There was some kind of transmission coming from somewhere in the
  black sparkling region above the waters.  He knew this deep down in
  his heart, but he could not express this thought to anyone.  But he
  did cherish the symbol of this being above all the others he had
  learned.

  It was these symbols that told him that the planet would someday
  come back to full life as the dolphin clan had known it.  He prayed
  to his sacred symbol every night when the stars came out.  He would
  leap high into the air and twist round and round five, six, seven
  times until splashing back into the water.  While the sparkling
  black ceiling swirled over his head he called out to the being who
  created it all and appealed to him in his high pitched whistling
  voice.  His voice was the only sound made on the Earth at that time,
  but he knew it would be heard.

  His symbols told him that everything would come back to life
  someday.  The waters would be warm and filled with life once again.
  Ricci knew this instinctively.  The symbolic logic he had been
  working in his mind told him this.  There was a certain logic to
  everything that had happened.  The creatures on two legs had raped
  the Earth and the ocean.  They did not respect what the Creator had
  given them.  They had no set of moral values that would put the
  Earth and all the life on it above all other priorities.  They had
  gill nets that caught everything including his own kind and they
  never showed the least bit of remorse or caring.  They never tried
  to help them.  They seemed to enjoy the slaughter.  Some of them
  even tortured his friends as they lay dying.  It must have been
  these creatures that caused this awful catastrophe and they cared so
  little even for their own kind that they simply allowed it to happen
  to them.  It was crazy, but they were crazy.  This must have been
  what happened.

  Ricci could reason all of this in his new symbolic.  The fact that
  they had been spared by some miracle proved it to him.  Some great
  force decided to wipe the slate clean and begin all over.  There was
  just enough life in the ocean to sustain a small population of
  dolphins.  The only place warm enough to sustain life was here.  The
  warmth that came to this place and kept the ice flows away was the
  miracle that convinced him that this was true.  He did not know
  about volcanoes.  He just knew that here it was warm enough for them
  to live and everywhere else on Earth it was a frozen wasteland.
  This was proof enough to Ricci that they had been chosen to survive
  and for some great purpose.

  But it would not be easy.  They would have to carefully control
  their population because the shoals of fish were limited in number.
  They in turn had to live off extremely limited sources of smaller
  fish who were barely able to find enough planktonic nutrition to
  sustain them. The volcano had given them just enough heated water in
  which to live and evolve, but only if they could learn how to
  control the forces around them so that they did not disturb the very
  delicate balance.  One step in the wrong direction and they would be
  doomed. Already he knew that if another dolphin family arrived here,
  they would have to arrive at some kind of method for determining who
  would be allowed to stay.

  The fish population would not support more than a small handful of
  his kind.  He knew this.  He could understand the symbols of
  survival.  They would have to be very careful not to over populate
  this place.  They would have to guard it against any intruders.
  They would have to defend it against all disease and infestation
  that might upset the fragile balance of small fish being eaten by
  bigger fish.  They were at the top of the food chain now and they
  must act as careful husbands of all other creatures in the chain or
  they themselves would be lost.

  Even if another dolphin found this place, they would have to keep
  him out until one of his own tribe died or left.  This seemed like
  the place to start.  They would stabilize their own population at
  its present number.  They would carefully monitor and ration their
  food supply.  They would not allow any more dolphins to come here
  without some kind of decision making process about who would be
  allowed to stay.  The number of births would have to be strictly
  limited to the numbe of deaths as well.

  Dolphins rarely worry about anything in life and now that they had
  found a refuge from the cold, most were happy and went about their
  lives as if nothing had changed.  They would chase each other in
  endless games.  They would play and chat with one another
  constantly.  They would eat and relish what the sea provided to
  them, meager as it was.  Even Ricci would play with them
  occassionally if only to reassure them that everything was all
  right.  But most of the time he would work with his symbolic logic
  and would teach the others a few of the symbols each day.  At first
  they were not very interested in learning, but gradually, as the
  boredom of their situation and the constraints of their small
  territory wore on them, they would slow down for a few minutes each
  day to listen to what Ricci was saying.

  Gradually, the dolphin society would evolve into something truly
  amazing and wonderful.  They would communicate with one another
  using Ricci's symbols and they would pass on their knowledge from
  generation to generation and each in its turn would refine the
  language, improve upon it, streamline it, simplify it, teach it,
  learn it, reformulate it, play with it, until eventually it would
  become the most pure of all languages ever devised.  It was this
  symbolic language that would allow these creatures to communicate in
  a purely mental way.  They would leave behind the need to vocalize
  or to use any mechanical means to communicate.  The symbolic logic
  in their heads would evolve to the point where they could actually
  read these symbols merely by transmitting their brain waves through
  the water.








  The next night, we found ourselves on the same stage, in the same
  auditorium of the Santa Cruz Civic Center, and in the same two
  chairs.  My tape recorder was getting it all and I even remember
  thinking in my dreams that I should be taking notes or something,
  but that somehow it was all being recorded somehow.  When I was with
  him, I never knew felt like I was in a dream exactly.  I knew that
  Elvis and I were talking but it seemed extremely real, to the point
  that when I was in the waking state for these forty days, it felt
  more and more like a dream.  It's difficult to explain, actually,
  but by the time you finish reading this, you'll know exactly what I
  mean.

  "Elvis, last night, you were talking about God and the way the
  universe comes out of this 'Nothingness'. I'm still not sure I
  understand it all.  I mean, something doesn't quite add up because
  people say that you can't get something out of nothing.  So, how
  does that work?"  I asked.

  "Well, in your 'virtual world', that's true.  You can't get
  something out of nothing because all energy is balanced perfectly in
  the universe so that the energy that comes out of nothing is exactly
  equal to the energy going out.  And all of it adds up to zero. This
  means that all the distance in the universe is zero and all the time
  in the universe is zero too,"  he said.

  "Zero?" I asked.

  "Zero.  It's like a set of books that the accountants keep for
  businesses.  All the transactions in the books are balanced out by
  other transactions.  You debit one account and credit another an
  equal amount.  And the banks, perform exactly the opposite kind of
  bookkeeping so that all the money in the economy is balanced out to
  zero and everybody keeps track of every cent that is spent in the
  whole world.  That's how God keeps track of all the energy 'IT' puts
  out there.  It's all accounted for and always has to balance out to
  zero,"  he said.

  "And why do you call the world I live in as the 'virtual world'?"  I
  asked.

  "Because it is not the 'real world'.  There is no real world except
  in the mind of 'IT'.  You live in the world of 'ITS' creation.  Since
  it's all just a bunch of energy forms interacting with one another,
  you can't call it the 'real world' you have to call it the 'virtual
  world',"  he said.

  "Why do you keep using 'IT' for Him or Her?"  I asked.

  "Because God is not Him or Her.  God is 'IT'. he replied.

  "You spell 'IT' like it stands for something.  Does it?"  I asked.

  "IT, stands for 'Infinite Time',"  he said.

  "So God is merely Infinite Time?  Nothing more?"  I asked.

  "That's as close to the truth as you're going to get out of me,"  he said,
  mysteriously.

  "But you said you would tell us the whole truth about everything,"
  I said.

  "That's correct, and that's exactly what I'm telling you, the truth.
  You cannot get any closer to the truth because of the limitation of
  the size of your brains.  In another millennium, or perhaps two,
  your minds will be capable of more truth.  You never have the total
  truth.  You merely get closer and closer to it,"  he said.

  "All right, well, let's get back to this real world, virtual world
  thing.  We compare our fantasy world with the real world all the
  time.  Now, you're saying our 'real world' is just a fantasy world
  for some higher intelligence.  Is that 'IT'?"  I asked.

  "That's pretty much, 'IT',  he replied.

  "Well, is that all there is to it?"  I asked.

  "No, of course not.  There's much more to it than that.  If you want
  to know about how and why things work in your 'virtual world' you
  have to know that it is only that, a virtual world.  Up to now, your
  science has acted on the assumption that you live in a 'real world'.
  From this point on, you must take a giant leap, a quantum leap of
  faith into the knowledge that you live only in a shadow world.  The
  'real world' controls everything that goes on in your world and it
  is this order of control that is crucial to your understanding of
  your place and purpose in the universe,"  he said.

  "How can we know about this 'real world' without being dead like
  you?"  I asked.

  "Your scientists have already begun to break the code and most of
  them have the insights already that I'm going to be giving you here,
  however, they speak in the language of science and I'm going to give
  it to you straight, and in plain English,"  he said.

  "Tell, me Elvis, why should anyone care about how the 'virtual
  world' or the 'real world' behaves?"  I asked.

  "That's like asking why should anyone care about love or kindness or
  peace or prosperity.  You either care or you don't.  If you don't
  care to learn about things like why you're here, where you come from
  and where you're going, then that means you're no more conscious
  than a tree or a rock.  These things all have a consciousness, of a
  kind, but consciousness is a terrible thing to waste and though you
  have the freedom not to wonder about the secrets of the universe, it
  will behoove you to wonder,"  he said.

  "Why, I mean, how does it behoove us?"  I asked.

  "I'll tell you, how.  When someone masters completely the
  information I'm going to give you here in these dreams that you're
  recording for posterity, he or she will have access to a power and
  an energy source much greater than anything on this or any other
  planet.  I'm here to give you a new kind of power over the physical
  universe.  This power only comes from understanding it in a
  completely new way.  You've never had this power before in your long
  evolution.  It's time you had it now,"

  "Why now, more than any other time?"  I asked.

  "Because if you don't get this power, the forces of evil, your own
  greed and technology, will destroy one of the most beautiful
  paradises in this universe, that's why.  We don't want that to
  happen.  'IT' has great plans for the place. What I'm trying to tell
  you is simply that your planet is the center of consciousness,"  he
  said.

  "The center of consciousness?  You mean the center of all
  consciousness in the entire universe?"  I asked.

  "That's correct.  You see.  I've already explained that the center
  of the universe is everywhere and so you are not the only center,
  but you are a center nonetheless.  If you want to accept this and
  get on with your purpose in life, this will be the starting point.
  If you don't, then it doesn't matter anyway,"  he said.

  "Hmmm, that sounds a little vague.    What starting point?"  I asked.

  "Your evolution through time has not been planned just for the hell
  of it.  You have to be able to look behind you at what you were and
  who you are now and then you'll be able to see where you're going.
  I'm not able to give you all the answers, just some very important
  clues.  It's up to you to find the actual path,"  he said.

  "Where does this path lead?"  I asked.

  "It always leads to the 'ONE',"  he said.

  "What exactly is this 'ONE'?"  I asked.

  "When you die, you become part of the 'ONE'.  We are all part of the
  'ONE',"  he said.

  "And I take it God is this 'ONE' that you speak of?" I asked.

  "No, not really.  God is something much higher.  We only have
  glimpses of 'IT' once in a while.  There's a higher kind of religion
  up here.  It's a kind of a cosmology, a questioning even here in
  death.  We never stop wondering about the nature of God.  We
  have some clues, and we get closer all the time, but we'll never
  really reach the final truth, at least it doesn't seem so at the
  moment.  For the moment, however, we do know a great deal about
  'ITS' universe.  And we have some insights that you don't have.  For
  all practical purposes, you can treat the 'ONE' as God because when
  you reach this state, you are as close to 'IT' as you're going to
  get in life,"  he said.

  "I see, but what exactly is this 'ONE'?"  I asked.

  "O.N.E., 'Out of Nothing, Everything,' or 'Out of Nothing,
  Everywhere', take your pick!"  he said.

  "O.K., but let's get back to what you said about all this energy
  balancing out to zero. What does that have to do with life on
  Earth?"  I asked.

  "It means that everything you do or think has to be balanced out
  somewhere because everything you do or think is energy acting on
  some other form of energy.  All this energy is flowing out of
  something and back into something else all the time.  That's the
  'ONE'.  Everything flows out of and back into Nothing, don't you get
  it?  It's like putting on a pair of glasses that have radar and
  sonar and microwaves and laser beams and all that hi-tech stuff.  If
  you can see the future coming and the past even before it's leaving,
  you have a distinct advantage over creatures who merely react to the
  forces that hit them daily, isn't that right?"  he asked.

  "Yes, that makes absolute sense to me.  It sounds dangerous too,
  however,"  I said.

  "How so?"  he asked.

  "Can we give ordinary people so much power as this? I mean most
  people are just working for the weekend and they spend a great deal
  of their time trying to learn the scores of all the major baseball
  or football games.  When they aren't doing that, they're busy
  chasing after a fantasy of one sort or another,"  I said.

  "This is all due to the lack of information I'm dispensing to you
  here. Your deepest need is for this power or you're doomed to keep
  your minds cluttered up with the latest sports scores forever.  This
  is precisely why we need to give you all this power.  Without it,
  you're all so lost, so vulnerable, so alone," he said.

  "I'm sold.  Where do we begin?"  I asked.

  "Tomorrow.  We'll continue this tomorrow.  I'm burning up a great
  deal of energy telling you all this and my time with you each night
  is limited.  I've got to go re-charge my batteries.  I'll see you
  again tomorrow night,"  he said.

  Then I woke up.  After I'd gotten a cup of coffee in me, I realized
  that my days and nights had turned into something truly wonderful.
  I had no idea where Elvis was leading me, but as I transcribed the
  nights discussions into my word processor, I could feel something
  building up in the magnetic field all around the Earth and my puny
  little brain was starting to resonate with it.  It's a very
  different kind of sensual experience from anything I've ever
  experienced before.  It's different than a drug induced high.  It's
  better than sex, mainly because it lasts longer.  It's better than
  any kind of pleasure I've ever known.  Stick around.  You'll get the
  hang of it.

  Ricci has tried on several occasions to tell his friends about what
  he knows and most of the time they pretend to be listening, but he
  can tell from the faraway look in their eyes that they just don't
  understand.  They just swim alongside and humor him until they can
  convince him to play or cavort with them.  The females try to get
  him to mate, but he is in no mood to mate and there's something
  about the act of mating that has him very worried.  Each new birth
  of a dolphin calf means another mouth to feed, putting that much
  more pressure on their very limited supply of fish, just barely
  enough as it is.

  He doesn't know how he knows this, but for every plus there has to
  be a minus.  Something that comes in will have to be balanced by
  something that goes out.  Their environment is so small and so
  closed that this is the strongest idea in Ricci's mind. Every new
  celebration of life will somehow mean a sacrifice of some kind by
  someone else.  Each and every new birth means that someone is going
  to have to leave the protected environment of this island and this
  of course would mean their certain and immediate death since nowhere
  else on Earth can sustain life.

  He tries to convince the others not to take so much pleasure in life
  because, for the time being, it is so precariously balanced.  But
  they just don't understand his symbols, but with patience, despite
  themselves, they begin to learn about what he is trying to say.  He
  gestures and postures and makes new sounds of his own invention.  To
  the Dolphin ear, it seems like a new kind of music that is coming
  through to them.  They don't understand it at first, but the younger
  dolphins catch on more quickly than the adults and soon, they have
  their own subculture of understanding.  They use new phrases and
  they experiment and harmonize together using the new musical symbols
  that Ricci has given them.  Soon, Ricci has become the most revered
  of all Dolphins.  The younger ones will do anything to spend time
  with him, but he is getting older and slower now.  He feels his age
  and with every day, he feels closer and closer to the creator of
  everything.

  The older members of the troop don't approve really, but they still
  regard Ricci as their leader.  But they rebel at learning all of his
  new songs.  They cling to the old ways.  They want only to live out
  the rest of their lives in this tiny little haven.  They don't
  understand what has happened to them.  They aren't sure if Ricci
  even knows, but they feel instinctively that he knows more than the
  rest of them.  He seems to be the only one who can make the
  difficult decisions for them.  They know that they need his guidance
  and his leadership, but they don't know why this is so.  They
  probably can sense that their limited space requires that some very
  heavy decisions will have to be made for the forseeable future.

  Never before in Dolphin history has anything like this been
  necessary.  It will be so difficult to convince the others, but his
  symbols and pictures floating around in his mind are clearer and
  clearer to Ricci every day.  He can see this symbol of a circle and
  the energy patterns, in concentric circles radiating around it.  He
  knows it means that when a calf is born to the troop, one of the
  adults will have to leave.  It can't be the mother because the calf
  will need all her milk to survive.  If it's not the mother, then the
  father, perhaps.  But who is going to enforce this terrible law?

  In the next few days and weeks, Ricci will agonize over these
  terrible questions of life and death.  It will tear at his soul, so
  unaccustomed to such earth shattering problems, that it will soon
  cause him to become very ill.  He has already decided that he, in fact,
  should be one of the first to sacrifice his life for the life of a
  newborn.  He, is, after all, their leader and if a leader can't lead
  any longer, what good is he?

  The symbols in his mind tell him that this is so.  And then one day,
  something happens to turn their entire world topsy turvy once again.
  Suddenly all the dolphin play and socializing stops in their
  volcano-warmed lagoon.  One of the younger males comes racing back
  into the group with an astonishment, a horror, a fluttering shock in
  his voice.  Ricci explodes above the surface of their ice-free pond
  to see the most feared object of any dolphin.  Fins, huge black
  fins, about a dozen of them, cut through the surface of the water
  like sails on one of the ships that the hated two-legged creatures
  used to live.

  Somehow, managing to survive the rigors of travel all the way down
  from the Atlantic portion of the Arctic Ocean and completely
  circumnavigating the frozen ocean waters, a group of a dozen male
  and female Killer Whales have arrived here in what used to be called
  Hawaii.  Now, it is has become obvious to both herds that this is the
  only place on Earth where anything can survive.  It will be even
  more difficult for the Killer Whales since their nutritional needs
  are ten times that of the dolphins.  Therefore, the probability of
  both herd's survival has just dropped like a rock!

  But survive they must.  Most of this killer whale herd has also died
  along the way.  The remaining whales have arrived with a completely
  new outlook on life.  Their mental imagery has changed almost
  overnight.  The radiation in the atmosphere and the lack of other
  stimulation from sun and wind has brought about immense changes in
  the minds and souls of these most efficient killers in the sea.  And
  now, as they approach the dolphin herd, they chatter back and forth
  to themselves about the reality of their situation.  Though they
  have never eaten the dolphins, their cousins, they know they must
  eat, and soon, or these sole remaining examples of their magnificent
  species will vanish forever.

  As they approach the dolphin herd which they can 'sense' from their
  sonar ranging has gathering just beyond in the dark gloom of the
  sea, they realize that they cannot devour them all, for to do so
  would doom them forever.  Worse, they now have a capacity for
  sympathy for their prey.  It is obvious to the entire herd that
  something truly amazing, even miraculous must happen.

  Being that the universe itself is a miracle, a wonder of simplicity
  and complexity, truly amazing and miraculous things do take place,
  from time to time.  The first stirrings of life on a planet with a
  methane atmosphere is such an example.  Then, after a period of
  time, when the primordial animals transformed this poisoned
  atmosphere to one of mainly oxygen and hydgrogen, another kind of
  life would take hold, another miracle of Space/Time.  Millions of
  years later, simple one-celled creatures would begin to co-operate
  and form a new kind of creature where all the work load would be
  divided among different parts and the benefits of cooperation would
  mean movement, a basic consciousness, a nervous system with messages
  travelling all over the place.  Then, after another period of time,
  these creatures would build and build themselves up to become the
  first fish, the first Amphibians, the first Reptiles, the first
  Primates, the first Humans.

  Then, throughout recorded history, there are other even more
  interesting miracles taking place.  Such as when the wild grasses
  changed and became wheat at just the right moment when Mankind
  needed a reason to settle down and to become farmers.  Then, when we
  had exhausted this kind of behaviour, the city replaced the small
  towns and the rest, as they say, is history.

  In Nature, as in most other things, necessity truly is the mother of
  invention and it this maternal instinct would be called upon now to
  save this very pivotal situation for the future of life on Earth.
  Ricci feels more than the others that he must do something.  His
  symbols are fun and seem to entertain the youngsters enough, and
  even the Killer Whales seem intrigued by it all, but there must be
  another reason for his bringing them here to this place of warmth.

  The imagery floating around in his mind is confused and blurred.  He
  is at once torn between extreme fear and an extreme sense of
  responsibility for his herd. Something must be done, and soon, or
  they will all die. Killer whales have never really decimated dolphin
  populations, preferring to swallow seals whole than to attack the
  much swifter and more intelligent dolphin.  Dolphin herds had long
  ago invented defense strategies that kept the Killer Whales away.
  But this was different.  There were no other food sources for the
  whales and they were obviously extremely hungry after their long
  ordeal.



  Ricci must come up with a solution and the solution he invents will
  be discovered someday, many millions of years hence as fossil
  evidence preserved forever in the volcanic rock formations of this
  place.  Ricci signals to the others to remain still and to stay
  together.  Then he begins the fateful swim toward the ominous black
  object he senses is the leader of the Killer Whale pack.  He's not
  sure if he will ever see his friends again.  He is unsure that he
  will ever breathe the air again or if he will ever see his children
  again.  He is sure, however, that the symbols floating around in his
  brain hold the key to everything.  It is the wildest gamble of his
  life, but it is the only hand he can play.  Bravery is not a dolphin
  word or symbol at this present time in their evolution, but in the
  very near future, because of what Ricci does for his race, this will
  be the first new word added to their new language.  They will become
  farmers and they will learn to live together.  They will farm the
  few acres of the sea for whatever riches they can glean from it and
  in this endeavor, using each other's strengths and talents, they
  will survive.




  On this night, Elvis seems very worried about something.  He looks
  at me with heavy, tired eyes.  It was as if something had happened
  that made him very cautious or afraid of something.  I couldn't
  understand it at all.  I tried to relax and make him feel relaxed.
  Looking back on it, I think I knew instinctively what was wrong.  It
  was the fact that I was still alive and he was dead.  There was this
  incredible gulf between us.  He knew things that could not be
  explained to me even in this most sensual and surreal state.

  Finally, I just decided to break the ice.

  "What's wrong, Elvis.  I can tell something's bothering you.  You
  seem to be completely different tonight,"  I said.

  "It's your ape-like brain.  I'm having trouble communicating with
  it.  There are things that I'd like to tell you but I can't because
  it's so far beyond your comprehension.  I wish I could be more
  specific.  I hope you know what I mean,"  he said.

  "I do, at least I think I do.  I feel it too.  You have such an
  incredible body of knowledge and it's probably the same as me trying
  to explain calculus to a monkey,"  I said.

  "That's a good analogy, kid.  It's truly wonderful when you get up
  here and you're free from the limitations of the skull and brain.
  It's a good brain that evolved from the apes, but it's so limited,
  so unwilling to escape its boundaries.  You have no idea until
  you're up here united with the wonder of it all.  But, not to worry.
  This is why I'm here. Together, we're going to make for a quantum
  leap in evolution,"  he said.

  "So, you are part of our evolution, then?"  I asked.

  "In a way.  Actually, I'm just a mirror of the crying need that most
  of you are sharing.  I've come back to the world of the living in
  this manner only because so many of you are thinking about the
  problems that you're now facing and you're crying out for solutions.
  It's deep within the souls of almost every living Human Being and
  this has never happened before in history.  In the past, it has been
  just a small minority of you who have this gift or power.  Today,
  however, things are much different. You all face the same
  uncertainties and the same potential catastrophes.  Billions of
  souls are united in this one terrible potential future.  The 'ONE'
  has a vested interest in preserving life on Earth and that's why
  I've been chosen to help you out," he said.

  "So, this power you spoke of a couple nights ago, it's the power to
  save the Earth and to help each individual at the same time?"  I
  asked.

  "That's correct.  You have the power now. Actually, you've always
  had the power, but you weren't ready to know that you had it.  My
  God, you are a superstitious lot, but the era of superstition and
  prejudice and fear of the unknown is rapidly coming to a close," he
  said.

  "How will this happen?"  I asked.

  "Science is about to unleash an incredible weapon for peace and
  prosperity from the research that you have just recently completed.
  I can't tell you what it is, but it will bring you all much closer
  together.  You will learn all about each other and all about the
  ways in which you must work together to preserve the Earth.  All
  this will be apparent to all of you very soon," he said.

  "What kind of weapon is this?"  I asked.

  "I can't tell you everything or it could destroy the natural flow of
  events that bring it to you.  I can tell you that this will prove
  much of what I'm saying here about the universe.  There is no
  material world as you understand it.  There is only the flow of
  energy from one place to another.  You have recently discovered this
  in the laboratory.  Your science has taught you that the atom is not
  the smallest particle of matter but that it is composed of electrons
  and protons and neutrons and that even these smallest of particles,
  themselves smaller than the wavelength of light cannot be seen by
  the Human eye.  And now you know that there are even smaller
  particles you call quarks that make up the energies in the atom and
  you have even discovered that these quarks are composed of even
  smaller pieces of energy, called the 'strange' and the 'beauty' and
  the 'charm'.  You are literally ready to discover the charm and the
  beauty of the universe,"  he said.

  "Is there any end to it all?"  I asked.

  "No, there is no end. The universe is composed of windows of
  opportunity. They are windows of consciousness and they expand from
  the infinitely small on out to the infinitely large as you observe
  it.  So, there is truly no material in anything.  The matter that
  makes up your own bodies and your minds is, strictly speaking, a
  series of wave forms that report to you in patterns and these
  impressions are what your senses report back to you.  The atoms of
  your own existence are held together by the same force of electricity
  that binds the iron and the hydrogen and oxygen and uranium atoms
  together, the same force that holds the stars together, that keeps
  the galaxies spinning in their space.  Everything you see and feel
  and know is all part of the 'ONE',"  he said.

  "How can you prove this to us?"  I asked.

  "You already know all this.  You don't have to rely on religious
  dogma and propaganda.  What I am saying is scientifically and
  mathematically proven every day in your laboratories and usually
  when great scientific discoveries like these are made, useful
  products soon follow.  This is what is going to happen on Earth
  soon.  You are going to be given the most useful product of all time.
  My job is to make you ready for it spiritually and mentally as well
  as physically," he said.

  "So, this is leading up to something like Time Travel, or like on
  Star Trek when they beam their molecules around through space?"  I
  asked.

  "It's something far more useful, far more beneficial.  Trust me on
  this and don't ask me what it is because I cannot tell you, until
  you're all ready to accept it,"  he said.

  "Are you going to tell me before the forty nights are up?"  I asked.

  "Yes, you will know enough by then to figure it all out on your
  own," he said.

  "I see.  Well, that sounds good.  I want to know more.  Please go on
  about these windows of opportunity that the universe is composed
  of," I said.

  "Tomorrow.  I've talked enough for one evening.  You have the job of
  really understanding what I'm saying each night before you go on to
  the next,"  he said.

  "So, that's why you give me just a little bit every night instead of
  the whole thing?"  I asked.

  "That's correct.  The truth has to come out in its own time.  It's like
  aging a good wine,"  he said.

  I woke up, but it was still dark outside.  I looked at the clock and
  it was only 3:00 A.M.  I was not tired any more, so I got up, got
  dressed and went outside.  I went for a walk down by the beach.  The
  waves were still pounding the rocky cliffs.  It was cold, but I felt
  very warm.  I looked up at the night sky and I could see the stars,
  the galaxies swirling around in space.  I saw further than I had
  ever thought possible.  I was witnessing remnants of the blast they
  call the 'Big Bang'.  I could see everything flowing out of the
  first moment in time.  Everything came from that time some twenty
  billion years ago.  We were all composed of the stardust created at
  that moment in time.  I could see it all flowing out, away from the
  blast.  I could feel the Nothingness and the source of everything
  that was here and now.  I could sense the power that unleashed
  itself that fateful moment when something decided that the time was
  right for life to begin everywhere.

  I saw all this and I also saw it all flowing back inward someday.
  the 'ONE', 'Out of Nothing, Everything', would someday be reversed
  and everything would return to this magic place where all the angels
  in the infinite expanse of time could all dance on the head of a pin.









|DREAM SIX






  Over the next several minutes, the Killer whale tribe and the
  dolphin tribe circle each other in the water.  Ricci can tell that
  the whales are extremely hungry.  They are all very thin and
  haggard, not like the Killer Whales he has encountered in the old
  days.  They would rarely try to catch and eat dolphin, but it is
  obvious to Ricci that they would eat anything at this point.  Some
  of them look as though they might eat each other, such is their
  obvious hunger.  The Killer whale leader, 'Tra Nuk', signals to his
  tribe not to launch an attack right away.  He knows that the
  dolphins would not surrender one of their own without a reason.
  This makes him sense something he has never sensed before and
  though this produces no fear in him, it does produce a kind of
  caution.  So, he allows Ricci to circle and signal in the curious
  manner of a dolphin.

  They are all so very hungry and sick from their long and tedious
  journey, that he is about to throw caution to the wind.
  For thousands of miles there was nothing for them to eat, nothing to
  see, barely enough open water to breathe.  Several members of the
  tribe had been drowned because they were unable to break through the
  thick ice pack now almost everywhere covering the ocean.  This meant
  that their normal food source, the seals and otters would be dead
  from the same causes.  Of course, the fish and plankton were the
  first to die from the radiation, then the cold, then the lack of
  oxygen and nutrients in the water.

  Somehow, they found their way here.  By fighting the cold, the ice,
  the lack of food, they had persevered.  Once in a while they would
  stumble on a carcass of a seal or a shark.  This meager scavenge
  would allow them to surive another day of struggling to travel and
  breathe through the ice pack.  Every once in a while they could find
  a bubble or a cavern in the ice flow where a small portion of air
  had been trapped.  They were constantly forced to find a place in
  the ice that they could smash through with their huge bulk.
  Sometimes, it would take many of them smashing up against the ice
  time after time, some of them overcome with exhaustion, would not be
  able to make it until they finally broke a hole in the ice and they
  could each swim to the hole and let their air explode out from their
  blow holes, sucking fresh air in.

  They would have given up long ago, except Tra Nuk encouraged them
  along, telling them that they will find a place of sanctuary where
  the waters are still warm enough to live and breathe.  He doesn't
  know how he knows, he just knows that there is such a place.  They
  will wander for thousands of miles before they find this oasis of
  volcanic warmth in a sea of ice.

  Now, having reached the sanctuary of Madam Pelee, they are nearly
  exhausted.  They don't know immediately what has caused this sudden
  oasis in the wilderness, nor do they have any strength left with
  which to care.  They only know that here at last is food and a calm
  sea, with fish and other sea life that they can eat.  The unexpected
  factor is this troop of dolphins which would make their recovery
  much faster.  They could devour them all in a few days.  But
  something about what Ricci is doing has given them pause.  He is
  communicating to them in Whale language, something they have never
  experienced before and it has the Killer Whales spooked.

  Ricci knew that he couldn't allow his troop to be used so cruelly as
  Whale food.  They had also come a long way and had survived for a
  purpose.  He knew that the whales also had a right to be here in
  these waters and that it was probably part of the same purpose that
  brought his own kind here.  He didn't fear death, he merely wanted
  to extend life to these waters so that his species could survive
  forever.  Every one of his instincts told him that his species was
  meant to survive.  The two-legged creatures were not wise enough to
  husband the Earth and their greed was legendary by now.  But some of
  the older species must survive and it was fitting that the two most
  advanced of all aquatic species would find themselves here and now
  vying for this honor.

  He would simply not allow the Dolphin experience to vanish from the
  Earth.  In a fight between Dolphin and Whale, there would be no
  contest.  Even in the condition they were in, the Killer Whales were
  far more powerful and almost as fast as a Dolphin.  And in these
  confined spaces, there would be nowhere to hide for them.  He used
  every bit of his brain to devise a plan, and then suddenly it hit
  him that his symbols could be adapted and used to speak to the
  whales the way he spoke to his own kind.  He only needed to alter
  them a tiny bit so that the whales could hear and feel them in their
  receptors buried deep within.  And so, the first dolphin, whale
  communication was born out of necessity once again.

  When Tra Nuk first heard these sounds he was convinced that there
  was another tribe of killer whales in the area.  He looked all
  around and called to them, but all he received back was this same
  symbolic harmony over and over again.  It was a sacred set of
  symbols that Ricci was using.  It meant to him that there should be
  peace and tranquilty and love amongst all creatures on Earth.  He
  had composed one lazy afternoon just weeks ago.  It had inspired so
  many of his own troop that he committed to memory as many of the
  others had done too.

  Tra Nuk, could find no evidence of another troop.  He began to
  realize that the harmonic reverberations going on in his brain were
  coming from the small, streamlined creature swimming all around
  them.  It was a whale sound coming from a Dolphin source.  It
  surprised him in the extreme.  Suddenly, he grasped the significance
  of the sound waves.  It was a plea, a prayer, a solemn tone the
  whales had sung themselves for different reasons.  It was an offer
  of a kind that no whale had ever heard before.  It came from a
  unique source and he was very reluctant to disregard it.  It seemed
  to say that they could all live here together in this place in
  perfect harmony and that the balance of Nature would begin to be
  restored with their cooperation.  It didn't come across in so many
  words, it was just a feeling that he could sense very deeply in his
  mind.

  Ricci knew that there was something very special about this meeting
  of the minds.  It had never happened before.  He had no idea what
  gave him this new talent.  There was a newfound power in his mind
  and his spirit yearned to release it for his benefit and the benefit
  of all others concerned.  These were magic tones, sacred symbols.
  They had been learned by other creatures in this place thousands and
  even millions of years ago.  Now, he had found them deep in his
  mind.  Then, suddenly, as the whale troop swam past to look him over
  more closely and to signal their acceptance of this fragile truce,
  the symbols began to flood back to him in such quantity that he knew
  where he had learned to think and to create words and music in this
  way.

  Suddenly Ricci remembered his earlier years.  He had been born in a
  place called 'Sea World'.  He had forotten about it because, to him,
  it was very traumatic to be confined to such a small swimming area.
  It was all coming back to him now.  It was a kind of prison run by
  the two-legged creatures.  His mother and father had been captured
  and taken there.  Then they gave birth to Ricci.  The two-legs had
  experimented on him.  They made him fetch things in the bottom of
  the pool.  Later, after mastering these simple tricks, they made him
  jump through hoops of fire to entertain large crowds of the
  two-legs.  Then, one quiet afternoon, his trainer came to the pool
  with a set of plastic symbols that he lowered into his tank.  Ricci
  would look at them and the trainer would make motions with his hands
  and Ricci would learn what these symbols meant.  Then, when he had
  learned all of these, they brought other symbols, many hundreds of
  them into the pool and they would lower a bulbous device into the
  water and it would speak to him in a funny, flowing manner that
  seemed like liquid symbols to him.

  Ricci's brain was so full of these symbols that it pained him even
  now to think about these difficult days of working all day long for
  his supper.  It was the only way to get fish in this prison.  After
  a long session of learning symbols, the two-legs would through
  fishes into the pool and he could eat them.  He remembered how awful
  these fish tasted because they were not as fresh as Dolphins like to
  eat, but it was all they had.

  Then, one summer day, his mother died in this terrible place of
  captivity and then his father died of loneliness and grief a few
  days later.  It was the loneliest time of his life.  He could not
  think of eating the stale fish they served him here and it would not
  be long before he would join his mother and father, except for the
  fact that the two-legged creatures took pity on him and decided one
  day that they must release Ricci to the sea.

  At first he was very frightened, but his trainer, a very nice
  red-headed two-leg, showed him some symbols and he knew instantly
  that they meant Freedom for him.  They taught him some very basic
  lessons about the sea.  They told him to look for other Dolphin
  packs who swam the open sea and how to make them adopt him.  They
  told him about the Killer Whales and the dangers of swimming too
  near them when they were feeding.  They taught him this and many
  other things that made him laugh to think of it.  They were only
  guessing at many things that Dolphins need to know to survive.  But
  apparently, their hearts were in the right place.

  He could remember it all now.  They carried him to the sea in a big
  vehicle with a tiny pool in it.  Many two-legs were walking all
  around and he could tell they hated to see him leave.  They were
  only doing it because they feared for his safety.  He was told all
  these things in words and in symbols and the symbols were ingrained
  in him now for all time.

  When they lowered his sling into the cool refreshing ocean, he could
  feel the Dolphin love of freedom flooding back through every cell in
  his body.  He was ravenously hungry once again. He would hunt and
  catch his meals now and they would be the kind of meals that a
  Dolphin was meant to enjoy, alive and wriggling down his throat.  He
  could sense the open ocean as a gigantic swriling adventure.  He was
  totally free to go anywhere he liked and do anything he wanted to
  do.  It frightened him a little, and so he swam in gradually
  increasing circles to keep the Two-legs in his sight.  He could hear
  the music, he could feel the symbols in his brain as something that
  would benefit him in some way in the vast expanse of freedom ahead,
  but there was no desire in him to experiment any more.  He would
  try, in fact, to forget everything that had happened to him in
  captivity.  He would try, but he would never really forget.




  Elvis came onto the stage as if was his home.  He seemed more
  natural to me now than he ever had in life when I watched him on
  television.  I couldn't help but feel such a great sadness.  I knew
  that he was here talking to me like this because he could have done
  so much more in life, but instead was detoured by a very powerful
  and evil force in the universe.  How he had managed to overcome this
  evil and the constraints of Space/Time and cross over the barrier of
  death in order to give me this information, I could only guess.  It
  was something that I would learn over the next several evenings and
  it was a lesson that I, of course, will never forget.  He walked
  across the stage after shaking hands with a few of the musicians who
  were always in attendance, sat down across from me, adjusted himself
  in his chair and then he began to tell me all about the secrets of
  the universe once again.

  "The entire universe is one big 'field' of light and darkness.
  There's more to it than that of course, but you can think of it as a
  field of energy, a huge hierarchy of three different states of energy.
  Everything that you know, everything that you see, everything that
  you feel, is simply either ON, OFF, or a mixture of the two.  Your
  'virtual world', what you think of as 'Reality' is a creation of all
  this ON and OFF and the mixing of the two.  If it helps, you can
  think of it as light and dark and the shadow area where they mix. Do
  I make myself clear?"  He asked.

  "I don't know.  I'll tell you later,"  I said, thinking this a
  brilliant retort.

  "In some places the ON is more concentrated than at other places.
  Using these two states of existence, the ON and OFF, the ONE pumps
  out consciousness and the 'field' of all this different energy
  vibrates in sympathy.  This vibration, or as your scientists call it
  the 'wave', travels everywhere all at once.  Actually it doesn't
  travel so much as just changes relative position in the universe.
  Are you with me so far?" He asked.

  "Yes, I think so,"  I said.

  I didn't really know what to think at this point but I thought it
  better to play along.  Maybe my tiny brain would snap into a
  more brilliant mode soon.

  "All right, now imagine, if you will a pond of water.  The 'field'
  is this universal pond.  The surface of the water is undisturbed
  until you throw a rock into it.  Waves begin to ripple out of the
  point at which the rock hits the water. The waves continue to ripple
  across the surface long after the rock has passed through the
  surface.  The center of the rippling remains where it was at the
  beginning, but the rippling waves become larger and larger and
  finally the ripples are hitting the shore near your feet.  The
  universe is nothing more than a pond like this one in your mind.
  The center of the pond continues to put out the rippling effect of
  the 'field'.  It's complicated by the fact that there is a rippling
  of this wave energy coming from all directions at all times. Some of
  the waves interfere with one another and cancel each other and
  things die out when this happens.  At other times, the waves
  interfere with one another in a positive manner and these waves
  become bigger.  The difference between a pond of water and the
  universe is insignificant really.  They both are part of the 'field'
  of ON and OFF, and just as waves interfere with one another in the
  pond which makes everything that floats on the pond rise and fall as
  they pass by, so do the waves in the universe, except that it is
  consciousness that rises and falls with the interaction of the
  waves and not leaves and ducks,"  he said.

  "So, consciousness everywhere is connected to all consciousness
  everywhere else?"  I asked.

  "That's right.  Don't you see that this is the only way that the
  universe can exist in such a scale and yet it can still allow for
  the individual differences that we all know as personality,
  creativity, etc.  You are all the same and yet you are all
  different.  How could this happen with a total universe where
  everything is connected and yet separate at the same time?"  he
  asked.

  "I don't know.  That's a very good way of putting it,"  I commented.

  "This can also explain why history repeats itself.  There are waves
  interacting all the time in the universe and they are responsible
  for all positive and negative trends and may persist for centuries.
  For example, when a positive wave form hits and is interfered with
  in a positive manner, something memorable happens and history is
  made in a good way, such as when the American colonists decided to
  begin the process of democracy on the planet just two centuries ago.
  This didn't happen by accident and it was not just because of a
  dispute over tea.  There was a great wave building for this process
  to happen and it had been building for centuries before.  It is
  actually a process invented many billions of light years away, but
  it was important enough and strong enough to travel and to last that
  long so that you could enjoy it on Earth,"  he said.

  "That's interesting.  I don't know of any reputable source who would
  claim that history is composed of space travelling consciousness,"
  I said.

  "Well, that's why I'm here.  It's time you learned the truth,"  he
  said.

  "Then, what about the negative stuff that happens, like World War
  Two, Viet Nam, Watergate etc?"  I asked.

  "It's the same process but opposite.  Lots of OFF in the universe,
  interfered with in a negative way, and the negativity makes its way
  across the field and Human History is altered in this manner,"  he
  said.

  "Which kind of trend are we in now?"  I asked.

  "You're in a positive trend now.  In fact you're in a very positive
  trend that does not happen for millennia.  It's a great tidal wave
  of ON that's been travelling from the center for a great while and
  you are going to be the beneficiaries of something very wonderful
  soon.  You will want to make the most of this sort of thing,"  he
  said.

  "How do we do that?"  I asked.

  "I'm going to give you a diagram now.  Show the first slide,
  please,"  he said.

  Then a slide show came on in back of him.  All of a sudden there was
  this screen and a slide projector and this diagram flashed onto the
  screen.  I thought it amusing that a character in my dream would
  have his own slide show presentation.  But there it was.  It was an
  animated diagram of waves growing across the surface of a pond.

  "I've read that physicists are finding that everything in the
  universe from atoms, to electrons, quarks etc. is composed of waves.
  And astronomers keep finding more and more kinds of wave energy out
  in space.  They build telescopes to 'see' sources of these waves
  like infrared and x-ray sources.  Is this part of what you're
  talking about?  Are these the waves that interfere with one
  another as you're describing?"  I asked.

  "Correct.  Because of the ONE, everything is transmitted from the
  center of the universe to you in wave energy.  This is just thought
  energy.  There is no matter to it.  Everything that you think of as
  'reality' is nothing more than one wave energy in sympathetic
  vibration with another part of the 'music' in the heavens.  There is
  nothing that exists except in this manner except that it is better
  described in three dimensions as a corkscrew motion because waves
  are not just two dimensional.  They don't just move up and down as
  you would see them described in your text books.  They move up and
  down and around and around in either a clockwise or counterclockwise
  direction depending on the nature of their origin,"  he said.

  "A corkscrew?"  I asked.  I could see an animated diagram of a
  corkscrew motion on the screen behind Elvis.

  "Yes.  Next slide please,"  he said.

  "All of this energy making waves in Space and interacting with other
  waves in an infinite dance of harmonics makes your reality seem to
  you as if there are solid objects out there.  You even perceive
  yourselves as something solid, but there is no solid of any kind
  anywhere in the universe, just corkscrewing waves that react with
  one another.  Sometimes the waves vibrate in such perfect harmony
  with one another, they persist for a few years, life is created this
  way.  When these corkscrewing waves persist and harmonize for
  centuries, it's called evolution.  When the wave motion has expended
  all its energy, when the momentum runs down, Life dissolves back
  into the 'field'.  You call this death.  When it all begins to
  unravel, you have extinction.  In the real world, this is called
  Energy Decay or Entropy.  Death is merely the total decay of your
  particular batch of waves, no more, no less.  Wave momentum that
  composes your life is used up, spent,"  he said.

  "That's all there is to it?"  I asked.

  "Oh, no, there's lots more.  That's why it will take me forty nights
  to give it all away.  But death is nothing to be afraid of, I want
  you all to know this.  I must admit that I've never felt more alive
  since the death of my physical body.  You don't need to be so morbid
  about it.  Funerals should be happy events, at least for the
  deceased.  It's not happy for the survivors because you may miss the
  interaction of the dead person, but this is a selfish kind of pain
  because the deceased has nothing to worry about any longer and
  certainly does not miss the pain of being alive.

  "Life is a pain, then?"  I asked.

  "No, just the opposite, but some of you make it a pain, as I did.  I
  made something truly wonderful and terrific into something painful,
  but the point is, I did it to myself.  It's part of the freedom you
  have.  You can do whatever you want with your lives.  It's much
  better to make it a positive experience, however.  This is the main
  thing I want to get across to all of you.  This is why I'm here.  I
  want to explain the whole set up to as many of you as I can so that
  you can take advantage of it.  In this way, the positive ON can
  expand and the OFF can be trimmed back a bit.  You're at a turning
  point in your consciousness where you need to know about all this
  and more importantly, you need to know how to manipulate it for the
  good of all concerned,"  he said.

  "So everything in our brains, in the world is just energy reacting
  with other energy?  We're all tied into this unviversal
  consciousness and all that is is ON and OFF?"  I asked.

  "That's right,"  he said.

  "Well, they say that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, so
  when we die what happens to our energy, where does it go exactly?"
  I asked.

  "It returns to the ONE, which is sort of the opposite of energy.  It
  gets recycled.  It's mixed with other more energetic wave momenta
  and it is part of something new.  You're correct, it never really is
  destroyed or created.  It's just a part of the whole system in the
  universe."  he said.

  "How does this whole system get started?"  I asked.

  "One of your scientists, George Clerk Maxwell, discovered more about
  this than any of you know.  Maxwell discovered the principle of
  induction.  Magnetic waves induce electrical waves and electrical
  waves induce magnetic waves and this is how waves travel
  everywhere,"  he said.

  "Is this how the corkscrew energy is created?"  I asked.

  "Yes, that's right.  But what Maxwell did not discover, is that this
  principle of induction is responsible for the creation of everything
  including waves.  So, it isn't the wave that's important, it's the
  creation of the wave out of ON.  ON is created by a different kind
  of phenomenom that you're not even close to finding yet, but this is
  how everything just goes on and on into infinity.  One level of
  reality is induced by the source of this reality being induced
  somewhere else.  Do you begin to see the significance of all that
  I'm telling you?"  He asked.

  "I don't know if I'm that quick witted, to tell you the truth.
  Maybe by the time we're through discussing it all.  What I really
  wonder is why this is important for us to know?  I mean it seems
  important, but your average, 'Joe Lunchbucket' doesn't care about
  how the universe works, does he?"  I asked.

  "Some do, some don't.  You don't know what the common consciousness
  is out there because you have never had the tools to work with it to
  explore all the possibilities.  From now on, this basic underlying
  understanding about reality has changed!"  he said.

  "Elvis, can you prove any of the things you're talking to me about?"
  I asked.

  "You yourselves will prove it as your science improves.  The proof
  will come when you can unite the two theories of Quantum Mechanics
  and Relativity Theory.  Albert and I are going to do this for you.
  Poor Albert couldn't do it while he was alive, but up here, he's
  worked it all out for you.  When you have this information, you'll
  have all the proof you need that what I'm saying is the truth,"  he
  said.

  "Albert Einstein is going to give us some information from the
  grave?"  I asked.

  "That's correct.  He's one of my best friends now.  Much of what I'm
  telling you now, I've worked out with him during chess games,"  he
  said.

  "Why doesn't he come to me himself with this information?"  I asked.

  "What makes you think he won't?"  he asked.

  "I don't know.  I hadn't really thought about it that much.  Gosh!"
  I said.

  The thought of Albert Einstein banging around inside my dream was
  something even more astounding than that of Elvis alone and yet,
  everything Elvis was telling me should have prepared me for just
  this kind of thing.  I was excited.

  Then his image began to fade.  He got up out of his chair just as
  unceremoniously as he came in and walked off the stage.  And I woke
  up to a wonderfully beautiful morning.










|DREAM SEVEN





  The killer whales somehow manage to find enough food in this
  micro-environment to survive, not well, but they do improve their
  lot by quite a bit.  They are still in danger because without a
  large enough gene pool, a species cannot improve in any significant
  way.  But at least under the truce they have worked out with Ricci's
  tribe, they have enough to maintain their kind for thousands of
  years.

  The dolphin tribe of some fifty animals would fare just a bit
  better.  They would have enough of a genetic variety to keep their
  species not only surviving but flourishing.  They would get better
  and better until they would be nearly perfect.  For there was
  another factor that had never had a signifant effect on life on
  Earth before.  Ricci's skill at telepathy would be handed down to
  his offspring and in fact, most of the females would attempt to
  conceive with him because his ability and his leadership qualities
  were known throughout the troop as being the greatest event in their
  history.  As Ricci passed this trait down to all subsequent
  generations of Dolphin, it would get stronger and stronger until it
  had in fact, created an entire new species of creature.  A creature
  that would be capable of great miracles.

  Ricci's talent given to him by his human trainers, would be the
  greatest event since the invention of life itself some billion years
  ago.  It was indeed ironic that some very inspired research by a
  worker in an amusement park would be the single greatest factor that
  would ensure that life and even a higher form of consciousness might
  continue on Earth for a long time after the originator of the talent
  had since passed away, extincting themselves before their own kind
  could utilize this great gift.

  Ricci's descendants would begin to feel and sense the symbols just
  as Ricci himself had done.  There is no translation in our words for
  this new kind of language.  Suffice it to say that it would feel to
  the dolphins as if some of our own present species would feel with
  these same powers.  There would be a symbolic logic that would
  transcend all language.  It would frustrate any attempt to define
  it.  It would surpass all other form of knowledge and because of
  this it would not be confined or defined by it.  The dolphins,
  starting with Ricci's sons and daughters, would know something at
  the same time that it was known by any of the others of the troop.
  They were so good at practicing this new 'art' that they would spend
  hours and even days at activities that would be fun and enjoyable
  and which would in themselves build upon the art.







  At about the time that this telepathic creature was fully evolved,
  the Earth began to recover from the damage done to it by the Nuclear
  war.  The dust in the atmosphere had begun to settle out and the sun
  was seen again, first for a few days out of every year and then,
  gradually, year after year, the sun's rays would warm more of the
  planet.  Then, by about the year 12,500 of the New World, the sun
  was shining practically everywhere on Earth long enough for the
  plant life, long frozen in the ice, to thaw and then to prosper.
  Soon entire continents were covered in simple mosses and then ferns
  and later shrubs and later still, trees.

  As the forests recovered their former glory so did the animal life.
  At first only a few amphibians, frogs, reptiles and insects who had
  managed the longest winter in history by hibernation.  Later,
  thousands of years later, they would evolve into creatures with
  better vision, better lungs, stronger legs.  These in turn would
  evolve into animals who were smart enough and agile enough to climb
  into the trees to look for their food.  And so, Evolution began
  slowly to repopulate the world as it had done so many times before.

  The most interesting part of this new Evolution, however, would take
  place in the Hawaiian Island chain where Ricci's descendants were
  still living.  A few hundred years later and the ice would start to
  melt in ernest.  The oceans were beginning to return as the seat of
  all life on Earth.  The food chain was coming back. The dolphin
  troop, now numbering in the millions, were totally telepathic.  They
  had lost the power to echo-locate, but their power of communication
  was now unsurpassed and unprecedented.

  The Dolphin society had developed unlike any other society before
  it.  With this telepathic evolution, they would have no need for
  technology as we know it today.  The idea of building a device that
  would pollute the atmosphere just to transport someone from one
  place to another would never occur to a mind such as this.  Not only
  because they never needed to be in immediate proximity to any other
  member of society, but also because of the overwhelming need to keep
  the planet safe and clean.  The events that initiated their new
  evolution had inscribed in their genes an awareness always present
  that would prevent this kind of thing ever happening again.

  The killer whales had long become allies in this new world and had
  since dispersed around the world, returning to a more normal
  existence as the food chain began to support more and more life.
  The killer whales had never quite been able to fathom the
  dolphin mentality, but they did understand that it was superior to
  their own and they decided that this was as it should be.  They also
  knew that they themselves would never be hunted by this superior
  creature.

  Soon, the dominant life force on Earth was not only gifted with the
  ability to shape their minds, but they would soon learn, in just a
  few hundred more generations, how to re-shape their physical bodies
  as well.  It had become more and more necessary for them to do this
  because they sensed an ability to husband all of the Earth's
  resources and if they could inhabit the land as well as the sea, the
  Earth would belong to them forever.  And so, the ability to change
  their forms so that they could adapt to any environment the Earth
  had to offer developed in the Dolphin consciousness.  Where legs
  were needed, they could develop legs in just two generations.  When
  it was necessary for them to fly, they would sprout wings.  Where it
  was necessary for them to protect themselves from the heat of the
  deserts, a subspecies would develop with a protective shell.
  Whatever the ecological niche required for them to be in order to be
  involved in that niche, and be involved as the dominant force, the
  Dolphin consciousness was able to meet that challenge, and the
  response was immediate.

  No one was more surprised at this kind of rapid evolution than the
  Dolphins themselves.  They were constantly finding ways to improve
  themselves and their planet, and yet, they themselves were never at
  a point where you could detect any arrogance or selfishness.  They
  were always aware that what had been given to them was a gift of
  extreme generosity by their creator.  In search of the answer to
  many of the questions they were asking themselves, they would
  rapidly learn, explore, assimilate and then eventually discard every
  major theory of philosophy or economics or religion that had been
  around for centuries.  Nowhere, in anything Mankind had discovered,
  were there any clues as to why they had been singled out for such an
  honor.




















  After centuries of asking these kinds of questions, they would
  conclude that the best way to continue their quest for knowledge was
  for the sake of knowledge itself and not for the potential reward or
  special advantage it might give one over another of their kind.  It
  was indeed ironic, and they were all very aware of the fact, that
  the society that forced their predecessors to jump through hoops
  would never be emulated in any way.  They would never require any of
  their kind to do anything that they might consider distasteful or
  rigorous or dangerous.  There would always be a need to take
  chances, to experiment, to overcome difficulties in life, but they
  were always there to help each other in many varying ways.  Since
  they were all connected via their mental capacities, they would
  never be lonely and they would never be without friends or what we
  might call a support system.  In this environment, life, as we know
  it today with all its struggle and competition and strife would not
  survive for long for it would be totally overwhelmed by the new
  cooperative, serene, peaceful life now prevalent everywhere on the
  Earth.






  Elvis came out of the gloom and walked directly over to me without
  talking with his musician friends first.  Usually, he would chat
  with them before coming over to talk with me.  However, tonight it
  seemed as though they were communicating on a different plane and
  that conversation was not required.  Since they were all dead, they
  had a kind of unspoken bond that I could only guess at.  I had
  witnessed things like this before, but in my dream state, it was
  something very wonderful to see.  I would notice the band a few
  minutes at the beginning of my dream and then sometimes at the end,
  but never during, and I just considered this to be regular dream
  procedure, but it suddenly occurred to me that even though these
  musicians were unseen, I always felt their presence from the very
  quiet background music they were making.

  "How are you tonight?"  Elvis asked, after sitting down and groaning
  a little, as if old age was creeping up on him.

  "Fine, but I'm wondering why you want to be telling this all to me.
  Why not someone like President Bush, Johnny Carson, Shirley
  MacLaine, or Oprah?"  I asked.

  "These people would not have been able to ask the right questions,"
  he said.

  "I see.  And so I give good questions?"  I asked.

  "That's correct," he said.

  "All right.  Well, let's start with this one.  How long do we Humans
  have to live on the Earth?"  I asked.

  "It's up to you, actually.  It could all be over soon, or it could
  last for millions of years.  It really kind of depends on what you
  all get out of these dreams,"  he said.

  "I see.  In other words, all of this business about the ON and the
  OFF and the ONE and all that stuff is necessary that we know this
  and use it in a way that will aid in our survival?"  I asked.

  "Well put.  That's exactly right.  If you can put aside so much of
  what you've learned before and learn these ideas, we can save the
  situation together,"  he said.

  "But before you said that there was a whole bunch of ON around right
  now, more than any other time in history.  Why should we worry then,
  if there's all this ON, or all this positive interference going on
  in the universe?"  I asked.

  "Just because there's a lot of light in a room, doesn't mean that
  there aren't people around who still refuse to see.  Let me put it
  another way, all the positive interference waves in the universe
  don't have to be positive here, they can be cancelled out by the
  negative waves of only a few really negative people to ruin it all
  for the rest.  It's that old saying about a rotten apple in every
  barrel. So, you have to be careful and vigilant,"  he said.

  "Is negative energy more powerful than positive?"  I asked.

  "Not necessarily.  But it can be.  It just depends on how positive
  the positive energy is.  You can't just have positive thinking.  You
  have to be immersed in it totally,"  he said.

  "Who keeps track of it all?  How is it balanced out?"  I asked.

   "Yes, well let's start at the beginning.  Every bit of energy in the
  universe, from a quark to a galaxy, to a universe all obey certain
  laws of 'Ecotrophy', just as the life on each and every planet obey
  the laws of ecology," he said.

  "Ecotrophy?  That's a new word to me," I said.

  "Yes, it is.  It means simply the hierarchical structure of all
  ecological systems in the universe from that of the quark and all
  the rest of atomic structure right on up to the planets, the stars,
  the galaxies, the universes and even the megaverses out there.  They
  all compose the 'Ecotrophy'.  This is the dominant force of all
  things that you need to consider for a long time," he said.

  "This sounds like a radical idea.  Is this bigger than Cosmology?"
  I asked.

  "Much bigger," he said.

  "How is it bigger?"  I asked.

  "Your concept of Cosmology is very quaint and limited in its
  scope.  In the average conception of Cosmology, you imply
  that God is a force 'out there somewhere' directing all the
  goings-on in the universe.  Well, there is a God, but it's not a
  'He', it's 'IT' and IT is not something 'out there'.  IT exists
  inside everything that is,"  he said.

  "How?"  I asked.

  "Because the universe has no real size, by designing it so simply,
  so infinitely small and big at the same time, the Creator can be
  part of everything at once.  It's so beautiful and so simple and
  that's the 'How' of it and the 'Why' of it.  It's all 'ONE', 'Out of
  Nothing, Everything and Out of Nothing, Everywhere'.  There is no
  better way of expressing this concept in all your languages.  Isn't
  it wonderful?"  he asked.

  He looked and sounded so impressed by all this, I was beginning to
  feel it too.

  "So, does this Ecotrophy replace this concept of God that's been
  around for so long?"  I asked.

  "Yes," he said.

  "It does?  You realize that you're going to get a great deal of
  flack from the Religious people in the world.  The Hindus will not
  want to give up their concept of God, the Buddhists will not want to
  give up their concept of Buddha, the Muslims will not easily give up
  their concept of Mohammed and then there's the Christians!  Jesus,
  what a ruckus, they'll raise!"  I said.

  "Yes, but if you want to improve yourselves, you have to give up the
  childish superstitions of ancient rituals and childishness," he said.

  "Well, maybe if you explain more about how 'Ecotrophy' takes the
  place of God in the universe," I said.

  "That's what I was hoping you'd say.  The ONE is the source of all
  energy in the universe.  It is created in a way that it takes up no
  space, takes up no time and it has no direction and yet it is
  everywhere at once.  This is how a concept like eternity can truly
  exist and it is the only way.  For reasons we will explore later,
  all of this energy is given a certain degree of consciousness. All
  levels of consciousness can become aware of higher and lower levels,
  but no level of consciousness can ever know about the whole system,"
  he said.

  "Interesting, but why not?"  I asked.

  "Because this would violate the whole concept of 'Ecotrophy'," he said.

  "Why?"  I asked.

  "In an 'Ecotrophic' system there can only be one and only one, 'ONE'
  because if there were more than one there would have to be something
  beyond 'Ecotrophy' and there isn't," he said.

  "Why isn't there anything beyond it?"  I asked.

  "It's a great life-cycle that you cannot escape.  Everything on
  Earth's is a part of a cycle and so is all the rest of everything
  else that exists.  Everything that exists is part of one cycle that
  may be a small part of another one, but the sum total of all cycles
  is another great life-cycle,"  he said.

  "So life on this planet feeds another form of life on another?"  I
  asked.

  "Yes, but you're only food for thought,"  he said.

  Then I began to wake up.  Elvis got up and walked off the stage
  while the scene faded from my mind and the light from the window in
  my bedroom began to pour through my eyelids.  There was another day
  in the 'virtual world' waiting for me out there and I was anxious to
  go out and meet it.  I was beginning to hear the background music
  the band was playing during our conversations even when I was awake.
  Things were changing.







|DREAM EIGHT






  The Dolphin mind is so powerful at this point that it is soon
  discovered, about ten centuries later, that there may be no need for
  their minds to be housed in the corporeal body which has served them
  so well for so long.  They become aware of another body much larger
  than anything on Earth.  The body of the physical universe is a
  vessel which can house them.  With a few years of searching for the
  answer as to how to become a part of this vessel, they reach out
  with their common mind and they learn of the secret of Space Travel
  without ships.  They have only to exercise their will.  It is a very
  difficult thing at first, many of them think it impossible, until
  they are convinced by those who know it is possible.  Soon after,
  they are concentrating on reaching out to the power that forms the
  universe itself and it accepts their mind into the body.  The escape
  is instant and it is beautiful.

  The Dolphin mind travels in this way all over the universe.  At
  first, they moved out tentatively to a few planets near the Earth
  and later as they gain confidence and stamina and knowledge they
  inhabit more and more planets until thousands and then millions of
  them are inhabited by the Dolphin Mind.  When they have colonized
  nearly all of the habitable planets on the Milky Way Galaxy, they
  begin to yearn for the freedom of open Space and the distance
  between galaxies seems smaller and smaller to them.  They are able
  to use the center of this galaxy as an engine to give the Dolphin
  Mind such power that they are able to send out gigantic waves of
  energy all over the universe.  It takes time, but after only a few
  revolutions of the galaxy, they are able to throw out a network of
  thought and it lands and takes seed on the planets of other nearby
  galaxies.  It is not long before an entire cluster of galaxies is
  part of the Dolphin Mind.

  The reason that they are so successful is not due entirely to their
  will power and reason, although this is a major ingredient, but it
  is also due to the fact that the Dolphin experience is a totally
  positive one everywhere they go.  Wherever they may wander in the
  universe, the Dolphin mind is able to right the wrongs, cure the
  sick, free the slaves, release the minds on planet after planet.
  When it hits a planet, the Dolphin Mind is careful not to interfere
  in a way that might lead to a blind alley of evolution.  They use
  their will power to look into the future and when they see
  injustice, they correct.  Whenever a species is threatened with
  extinction, they take action to prevent it.  Whenever a society is
  threatened with decay and disease, they cure it.  Whenever a planet
  is near destruction, they take steps to move all life forms to a
  safer place.  All other forms of intelligence soon learn it is far
  better to follow this collective consciousness rather than to fight
  it.  In the rare occasions where they are defeated by the forces of
  evil, ignorance and neglect, they come back.  And this is how they
  expand their empire throughout the entire universe of light.

  The major discovery of the Dolphin mind is that life is such a power
  that life on thousands and millions of planets begets more life,
  more power.  They use this force to propagate it all over the
  heavens.  On no part of the galaxy do they find an exception to this
  rule.  As time goes on the Dolphin Mind gains more and more power
  until it is able to leap across any boundary, cross any expanse of
  time.  They have discovered the major forces in the universe and
  have mastered them.  Where there is induction, they induce their
  will across the vast expanse of time.  Where there is gravity, they
  overwhelm it, where there is light, they are the essence of light,
  where there is heat, they are the ultimate heat, and where there is
  life, they live higher and faster and better than any other form of
  it.

  After millions and billions of years, wherever there is light, the
  Dolphin Mind is there part of it.  The universe becomes an engine
  for its exclusive use.  Though never in control of the universe,
  they are nonetheless a very central part of it.  The consciousness
  of the universe is influenced and changed as a greater and greater
  percentage of the Universal Consciousness is turned to the Dolphin
  agenda.  Looked upon as gods by many species does nothing to deter
  them from their manifest destiny.  They will unite all consciousness
  in the universe to be more aware of itself.  They will give all
  creatures great and small a kind of mental awareness that only the
  higher civilizations have known.  Soon, the ecology of the universe
  is so intertwined that no part of Creation is left alone.  The cycle
  of all life in this universe will not change drastically except for
  the fact that it will all be united in spirit by the Dolphin Mind.
  The significance of this fact will not become known for several
  hundred more revolutions of all galaxies in Space.














  Elvis came out of the dark and sat down with a familiar greeting.
  Even though he seemed quite young he often made me feel as though he
  were very old and yet I knew that there could no such a thing as
  'age' here in this place.

  "What makes electricity?  Do you know?"  he asked.

  "Not exactly.  All I know is that you plug a cord into the wall and
  you get it,"  I said.

  "Well, that's how most people think about electricity.  They rarely
  think about where it comes from or how or more importantly, why," he
  said.

  "Well, we don't need to know why.  As long as the engineers at the
  power company know how, that's all that's important to us," I said.

  "Don't you ever wonder how electricity is made?"  he asked.

  "Well, I used to, when I was in school.  We had to learn about it in
  physics.  I had a 'B' average in school, so I must have learned all
  that stuff and I've forgotten it all now," I said.

  "It's important enough that you should never forget about how it's
  made.  Everything that you know about doesn't just come out of
  nothing.  It comes from a parallel universe.  This is what is meant
  by the 'ONE'.  One and zero are the only two numbers in the universe
  that are important.  Electricity comes from this dichotomy.  It
  doesn't just happen because you plug something into a wall outlet,"
  he said.

  "Yes, but it comes from a generator at an electric generation
  station, doesn't it?  As I recall it's made by a generator which is
  basically a copper coil spinning through a magnetic field.  Isn't
  that right?" I asked.

  "That's right.  When you spin a copper coil around in a magnetic
  field, the force of electricity will flow along the wire.  This is
  how you heat your homes, light your homes, cook your food, play with
  computers, watch television.  Through the force that comes to you
  directly from the 'field',"  he said.

  "I thought so," I said.

  "That's right, but where does the magnetic field come from?"  he
  asked.

  "From 'The Field'?"  I asked.

  "That's correct.  You're learning rapidly.  This is a good sign," he
  said.

  "But they always tell us that electricity is really a flow of
  electrons,"  I said.

  "It is, but where do the electrons come from?"  he asked.

  "I don't know,"  I said.

  "It's better to ask, what are electrons made of," he said.

  "And electrons come from quarks and quarks from beauties and
  beauties from something even smaller and on and on.  You told me
  that last night," I said.

  "That's correct.  Now, if electricity is composed of electrons in a
  kind of flow of things that are increasingly smaller and smaller in
  proportion to one another and the generator spins from the force of
  the water or the steam or the nuclear power that you use to generate
  this electric force, then where does all this flow come from and
  where is it going," he said.

  "The 'Field'?"  I asked.

  "That's right.  Everything comes from the 'field', or the 'ONE', Out
  of Nothing, Everything and Out of Nothing, Everywhere.  This is how
  electricity comes into your homes and factories.  And it is also how
  your consciousness and the consciousness of all other living
  creatures are powered as well as everything else you'd care to name.
  This should be obvious to you by now, but let me ask you where does
  the 'Field' come from that generates all this power?"  he asked with
  a mysterious smirk on his face.

  "I don't know how to answer that,"  I said.

  "You must try.  You must all try to answer this question because it
  is the most important one of your lives," he said.

  "All right, well, let's see.  You're saying that this ONE 'field'
  and the magnetic field and all other fields are one.  All forces
  come from this and everything that exists is due to this force of
  the ONE field?"  I asked.

  "That's correct,"  he said.

  "That would mean that there's a field generator somewhere out there
  well above our perceptive abilities,"  I said.

  "That's good.  You see a magnetic field is created because all the
  atoms in iron or metal objects are lined up in a parallel manner and
  this makes the poles of each atom augment each other until there's
  enough of a charge for them to be attracted to the charge in the
  magnet, just another kind of material where all the atoms are lined
  up in parallel.  This was a big clue.  Does it help you any?"  he
  asked.

  "Well, a little.  You're saying that there are many fields out there
  all in parallel alignment?"  I asked, tentatively sorting my way
  through his clue.

  "Very good.  You see, you're making excellent progress.  Another
  good example is laser light.  A laser is a powerful beam of light
  capable of burning right through six inch steel because all the
  photons that make up the light are arranged in parallel by the
  crystal of the laser.  This is what 'Star Wars' is based on, the
  ability to shoot down missiles in space with laser beams that travel
  at the speed of light, correct?"  he said.

  "Yes, that's right,"  I said.  "But what does all this parallel
  molecules and photons have to do with the rest of the universe?"

  "Don't you see it yet?  Let me give you another example which is
  another recent discovery.  Superconductivity is merely the
  conduction of electricity with little or no resistance because the
  electrons in the conductor are in parallel.  So, let's summarize.  A
  magnet is a magnet solely because the atoms of iron all line up so
  that their 'north poles' and their 'south poles' are all contiguous
  and parallel one another.  This allows the force of magnetism to
  flow through them with little or no resistance.  A bunch of magnets
  in parallel generates electricity, a force you're all familiar with.
  Laser crystals allow light to flow in such profusion of parallel
  force that they can cut through steel.  Superconductors allow you to
  build trains that float above the tracks and have no friction and
  can travel at hundreds of miles an hour without burning any fossil
  fuel, except at the generation station, of course.  All this and
  many other amazing new scientific breakthroughs just around the
  corner because of parallelism.  What does this tell you?"  he asked.

  "The universe is a parallel force?"  I said.

  "That's it!  Pretty simple when you see it, isn't it?"  he asked.

  "Yes, but parallel with what?"  I asked.

  "Parallel with other universes, of course.  Everything that you
  include in your universe is only one small Time Bubble.  The
  universe you live in had a beginning and it will have an end.  The
  entire universe has no beginning or end.  The infintely interesting
  part is that it is all parallel to the rest,"  he said.

  "The rest?"  I asked.

  "Yes, that's a good idea.  Let's rest for the evening and take up
  right here next time,"  he said, yawning.

  I couldn't let it rest just yet.

  "What about ..."

  He cut me off.

  "Just think about it this way for the time being.  The compass that
  gives you direction by always pointing North on Earth is very
  similar to the compass that gives you direction all over the
  universe.  You can find your way, you can keep from getting lost if
  you just remember your compass will always point North.  Except in
  the case of the universe, there is no North and South.  You want to
  always point Up, towards the good, the light, the positive pole.
  Keep an orientation in this direction and you will learn more and
  more about the parallel potential energy of your life and the lives
  of others.  Just as there are parallel universes, there are parallel
  possibilities for your life.  Your destiny depends on how fast you
  learn all the parallel possibilities in your life and how fast you
  learn to change them.  With this power, you can do anything you
  want, and I'm not exaggerating,"  he said.

  "So, everything in the universe is parallel and it's one of two
  poles?"  I asked.

  "What is the best way to think about these opposite poles?"  I asked.

  "Consciousness and un-consciousness,"  he said.

  Suddenly, I woke up and became quite conscious of everything else.











|DREAM NINE







  The Dolphin mind spreads throughout the known universe in this
  manner for millions of countless eons.  Then, one day, they come to
  a barrier that no one could have foreseen.  The Dolphin mind gains
  in expansion until its speed across the universe is faster than the
  expansion of the universe itself.  In an amazing twist of fate, they
  have been bottled up again, just as surely as if they had been
  enclosed in a mammalian skull case as their ancestors had been. They
  know that it is true because when they try to expand out past the
  limits of the known universe, they wind up in a place where they
  have been for years.  They have proven that universe is nothing more
  than a huge sphere growing ever larger and outward until there is no
  more to be seen except blackness.  They have also proven the theory
  that as the balloon expands, it must someday contract back into the
  miniscule point in space from where it came.

  For a long time, the Dolphin Mind appears to be stymied.  They are
  not growing or expanding and this is the worst thing that can happen
  to them.  Then, they have their answer.  For millions of years they
  have pondered the true meaning of the countless Black Holes in Space
  that they have encountered almost everywhere.  It had been theorized
  for centuries that these phenomenon might be entrances into another
  dimension of Space/Time.  None had ever been able to find a way to
  prove the theory right or wrong since there would be no possible
  communications between the two dimensions.  But now, they realized
  that in order to expand outside of the expanding universe in a way
  that will ensure their conscious survival is to send that
  consciousness into the Black Hole and test this theory about the
  existence of the parallel universe.  They turn their universal
  consciousness to the problem and they decide that it can be done and
  that it must be done in order for them to survive.

  They on one very well-known day in Dolphin society, the entire
  universe is filled with a desire, a will, a united spirit that
  defies description in this age.  The Dolphin Mind solidifies in
  a unified flight until they find a suitable Black Hole in the
  Ricci Galaxy, so named for their progenitor on old Earth.

  With all their combined energies focused on the Singularity, the
  inescapable gravity of the Black Hole, which takes up no space and
  from which there is no escape, no return, they transcend this single
  plane, dissolve away from it and they fall into the warped fabric of
  Space.  They are not sure if they will ever have their answer.  It
  could be that they have just committed mass suicide.  It could be
  that they have sent their will power into a bottomless abyss of
  Space/Time. It could be that there is a limit to their power.  They
  know that they must find out if there are parallel universes as has
  been speculated for years.  It will be centuries before they even
  have a clue about the truth, but the Dolphin Mind is patient indeed.






  "Tell me Elvis, what would be the purpose of designing the universe
  in this way?"  I asked when Elvis returned to the realm of my dreams
  the next evening.

  "Actually this is like asking, why is there air to breathe?  You can
  never understand it all.  You can only get closer to it.  There is
  only the ONE.  There may be something or someone who has created the
  ONE, but we can never know because we are part of the ONE and in
  order to know more than the ONE, implies that the one knowing this
  must be outside the ONE and this is impossible when you know the
  meaning and the purpose of the ONE," he said.

  "I see, well then, what is the meaning and the purpose of the ONE?"
  I asked.

  "The ONE is the designer of the universe, and as such it has made it
  all quite simple.  By placing itself at the center of all parallel
  fields, there is no problem in knowing and being a part of
  everything outside this center," he said.

  "I'm just a little shaky about this idea. How does the center happen
  to be everywhere at once?"  I said.

  "It's simple to the ONE.  It's hard for you to imagine it, but look
  at this diagram.  Next slide please,"  he said.

  He showed me a diagram of the universe and at it's center was the
  'ONE'.  It's hard to describe a diagram of this size and immensity,
  but there it was in my brain, just the same.  He had given me a
  visual representation of the universe and how the center of it all
  is also part of the center of everything else.

  "How is this diagram possible?  You have drawn the center everywhere
  at once," I said.

  "This is possible only because in the 'Real World' there is no
  distance between all of its parts," he said.

  "That's the part that's still a bit hazy.  How could there be no
  distance between all the parts of the universe.  Astronomers tell us
  that there are immense distances in space, hundreds even millions of
  light years.  How do you reconcile this?"  I asked.

  "You are judging the universe by what you know from the 'virtual
  world'.  Before you can truly know about the universe you must free
  yourself from this constraint," he said.

  "I see, and I don't see," I said.

  "Last night I explained about how magnetism and electricity is a
  direct result of the polarity of the ONE and you seemed to follow me
  perfectly.  Did you understand this lesson, because if you didn't we
  can't go on any further," he said.

  "I understood it, to a degree," I said.

  "Well, then you remember that magnetism is a window of harmonic
  interference.  Let's keep it simpler for you. You now know that a
  magnet has this property of magnetism only because all the power of
  every atom within is aligned, 'North' to 'North' and 'South' to
  'South', don't you?"  he asked.

  "Yes, I seem to remember that," I said.

  "All right, well this polarity thing is just like the polarity of
  the Earth's North pole and South Pole and you find your way around
  this field with a compass, remember?"  he asked.

  "Yes, I remember," I said.

  "All right, then take this one step further.  If everything that you
  can see in both the direction of the infinitely large and in the
  infinitely small has this property of magnetism inducing electricity
  and electricity inducing the magnetic force once again in a complete
  cycle, what does this tell you?"  he asked.

  "It tells me that I should paid more attention in Physics class," I
  said.

  "Very good, but what does it really tell you?"  he asked.

  "It tells me that the two forces are inter-related?" I guessed.

  "Very good, my friend, but how are they interrelated?"  he asked.

  "I don't know, really, Elvis, I'm not as omniscient as you are, you
  know.  I can't even hazard a guess," I said.

  "Can't you see that if one force can induce the opposite all over
  the universe and that these two forces are responsible for the
  creation of all the planets and stars and even of the quarks and the
  electrons and atoms? Isn't the answer hitting you over the head?"
  he asked.

  I thought about it for a while.  I looked past Elvis at the other
  members of the band standing around holding their instruments and
  following along, listening to every word of our conversation.  I
  hadn't realized it before, but they were all part of my education.
  It wasn't just Elvis sitting here and talking with me.  It was all
  of them.  They all had things to say through the vision of Elvis
  sitting next to me.  For all I knew, it might not even be Elvis at
  all who was talking with me all these nights.  Suddenly, I felt very
  confused.  All along, I had been asking the questions and now, for
  some very obtuse reason, Elvis had turned the tables.  He was asking
  me all the questions, now.

  "I guess that it means something very important," I said, playing
  for time.

  "You bet your bippy it means something important.  Try to think what
  it might mean and I'll be seeing you tomorrow!"  he said.

  Then, I noticed that curly lipped smile of his.  He specifically
  said that he'd be 'seeing' me tomorrow.  He had never put it like
  that before.  I wondered what he meant.  I had a distinct feeling
  that something was about to change drastically in this ongoing story
  of ours.  I woke up and felt distinctly different about the day.
  But I decided whatever it was, it could only be a parallel reality
  and it would be interesting to see first hand what that meant.








|DREAM TEN







  On the tenth morning, I was going about my usual routine of taking a
  shower when I heard a strange sound coming from the living room.  I
  thought it was the phone.  I lived alone at the time, so whenever I
  was in the shower, I would usually throw on a robe, walk out into
  the living room to get the phone.  It's funny how some of our
  technology has made us a slave to them.

  When I got into the hallway, I could feel someone in the room.  It
  was very eerie.  There was a presence in the room, just around the
  corner that could only be described as 'having been dead'.  I don't
  know how I knew this, but I did.  It wasn't a smell or anything like
  that.  It was just the knowledge and the creepy crawly feeling you
  get with goosebumps running up and down your spine and up into your
  scalp.

  "Elvis, is that you?"  I seemed to know instinctively who it might
  be.

  He didn't say anything, but as I turned the corner, there he was,
  big as life, sitting on my living room sofa.

  "Pretty humble digs you got here, pal,"  he said.

  He was dressed as if he were going to a concert, all decked out to
  the max.  I was relieved to notice that he didn't have any makeup
  on, and yet, he looked very young, handsome, confident.  His eyes
  felt as though they would bore a hole in me.

  "Uh, yeah, thanks,"  I said, not noticing the insult.  "You're here,
  alive?  You've been a dream for nine days and now you come out into
  the open.  What's going on?"

  "Well, things were going so well in that head of yours, we decided
  that I should have a bit of a vacation,"  he said, getting up off
  the sofa.

  "What do you mean?"  I asked, stalling for time.

  "Well, I think you should get dressed partner because I'm going to
  show you some things that are going to solidify everything I've been
  talking about.  We're going to make a little magic happen on the old
  Earth and you're going to be part of it,"  he said.

  "But why, I mean what, I mean where ..."  I was still in a state of
  shock.

  "Relax, kid.  Get dressed.  I'll tell you all about it on the way to
  the airport,"  he said.

  He stood there and seemed to shake himself loose of the years of
  being dead.  He was warming up for some big appearance somewhere.
  He was preparing for something really magical.  I got the distinct
  impression it would be a comeback appearance at the Hollywood Bowl
  or Madison Square Garden or something like that.

  I went into the bedroom to get dressed.  Standing in front of my
  clothes, I thought that this was all a flashback to a dream we had
  or were going to have.  For all I knew this was probably a dream in
  itself and I would wake up soon.  But I knew the difference and it
  was rapidly becoming clear that it was no dream.  Elvis was in the
  next room, chatting about something to someone I could only guess
  at.  He was talking about the travel arrangements.

  When I was finally dressed, I went back out into the living room,
  halfway hoping that Elvis would be gone.  But he wasn't.  He was
  sitting on the sofa and staring out into space.

  "I'm ready.  But I sure would like to know where we're going,"  I
  said.

  "We're going to Las Vegas,"  he said, escorting me to the door.

  "You have a major concert scheduled I supposed,"  I said.

  "No, not really.  You see there's a Elvis impersonators contest
  starting in a few hours and I'm going to enter,"  he said with a big
  shit-eating grin on his face.

  "Where is it?"  I asked.  A long black limo was parked outside my
  door.  I got in first, rather clumsily, and Elvis just kind of
  flowed into it behind me like he had lived in one of these things.

  "It's at the Mirage Hotel.  I like the symbolism there, don't you?"
  he asked, chuckling.

  "Why are you doing this?"  I asked.  The limo sped away and I
  assumed we were on the way to the airport.  It seemed to be equipped
  with everything a person would need.  It had a television, a stereo,
  a full wet-bar, even a small refrigerator.  I could see the back of
  the driver's head and I was wondering what he was thinking about all
  this.

  "We're going to teach them all about the universe.  Don't you think
  it's time they learned?"  he asked.

  We drove all the way to the airport and Elvis didn't seem very
  talkative.  I made several attempts to draw him out, to see if this
  were really happening.  But once we got into his private jet and
  lifted off the runway, I knew it couldn't be a dream any more.  It
  was really happening.  I was going to be a key player in a part of
  history.  Either that, or I was going to be spending a little more
  time in a Home for the Bewildered.




  That night, my dreams were free from talks with Elvis.  He would
  appear in my waking state from now on.  Everyone could see him, but
  they would think him only an Elvis impersonator.  In fact, he would
  take on a new name of Jesse Fernandez to help maintain this
  illusion.  I would travel everywhere he went, giving up my mundane
  life for the chance to see the world as Elvis now sees it.  It would
  be the most educational process I will ever know as well as the most
  entertaining.  We would have such a unique perspective on life, it
  would keep me in a kind of suspended animation.  I would watch and
  listen to the conversations he would have with other people and
  every once in a while he would look at me and we would share a
  terrific laugh because through Elvis, it was almost as though I
  could read the other person's mind.  There were so many funny and
  weird episodes during this journey that I have decided to record
  them here for posterity.  Altogether, we would travel around America
  for another 30 days and nights.  It would be the greatest vacation
  of my life.  It was Elvis's idea to record all of these adventures
  on video tape.  I've kept it all and someday I hope you can see them
  on TV, but for now, you'll have to be satisfied reading about them.

  Though my dreams with Elvis were over, now every night I was free to
  dream of Dolphins.  They greeted me in graceful swimming arcs in a
  beautiful blue ocean off the coast of Hawaii.  We would swim
  together and I felt as though I were one of them.  Every night, they
  were there to greet me.  At first, they didn't try to communicate
  with me in any way other than through facial expressions and
  gestures with their bodies.  I learned how to swim just like them
  and I even developed a breathing hole in the top of my neck so that
  I could stay with them longer.

  We would range over vast playgrounds of the sea.  Every once in a
  while a fish would swim in my way and I would capture it with a long
  beak I had developed just for this purpose.  I remember feeling
  relief that I no longer required knives and forks and dishes to get
  my food in my mouth because this meant no more washing up after
  dinner.  The Dolphin troop was wonderful with me.  They assigned a
  female to me who was so beautiful and so graceful and so patient
  that I knew that I was a very special addition to the troop and I
  was accepted as one of them. She kept me out of danger and she even
  fed me from her nipples.  The milk was quite a treat and it made me
  fat and muscular very quickly.

  I couldn't believe how wonderful it felt to be swimming with this
  group of individuals.  After a few nights, I would learn how to
  vocalize and communicate with them.  They taught me all their words
  and signals.  There were words for locating one another in murky
  waters.  There were words for calling attention to the direction of
  food.  There were even words of affection and familial love.  I had
  several aunts and uncles in this troop and they would always brush
  up against me with their perfectly smooth bodies and they would give
  me hints on surviving and being happy in life.  I would try to learn
  it all as fast as I could but there were limitations on my rate of
  learning.  I knew that I would need several of these dreams before I
  really felt like an adult Dolphin.

  I looked up to the adults with great admiration.  They could leap
  out of the water three or four times their own body length.  They
  could dive into the depths of the sea and come back with great
  gourmet feasts they would always share with the rest of the
  pack.  They could swim at incredible speeds.  They even knew how to
  defend the pack from the jaws of the Great White Shark.  But most of
  all they were so fun-loving.  Sometimes we would swim in the bow
  wave of a boat just for fun.  I remember looking up at the Humans,
  standing on two puny little match sticks high on a deck and looking
  back down at us.  They seemed to be having as much fun watching us
  as we were having with their boat.  I remember feeling sorry for
  them that they couldn't swim free like us without the aid of a
  machine.

  Yes, my dreams were so much more pleasurable now, and so was my
  waking life.  They were both filled with such great adventures, I
  know that I must share them with you.  And I hope that you enjoy
  them as much as I did but, more importantly, I hope that you get as
  much out of them as I did.  If you do, there will be very little
  trouble on Earth for a long, long time that we cannot handle
  together.

  I have a vision in my head even while awake that seems to be a
  remnant of the Dolphin Mind.  The universe is their playground as
  well as ours.  It exists solely for this purpose.  There are so many
  different ways to play here on this playground that it sometimes
  requires tolerance and an open mind to allow other creatures to play
  in proximity to us in their own special way.  Nowadays, I can't
  shake the feeling that we Humans are the least tolerant of all
  species on the planet and the Dolphin Mind is trying to break us of
  this habit but we don't learn as easily as the Dolphins do whom we
  have captured amd put in the amusement parks.  We must learn a great
  series of lessons soon, however, or our own survival will be
  threatened.

  This is what the Dolphin Mind is telling me from somewhere in Space
  through a great big Hole in Space.  From a place where there is no
  distance, no mathematical measurement of any kind, no reality as we
  know it, I felt the Dolphin Mind calling to me every night, pulling
  me deeper into slumber than I have ever known to a place where I
  could sense their information in a way I had never known.  I can
  tell you from experience that we live in a tiny little Time Bubble
  that we know as the universe, but which is so very small in
  'Reality' that it's ironic we should feel so important.  There are,
  in fact, so many parallel bubbles with our own that the
  possibilities for adventure in the universe is infinite as is the
  mind of the 'IT', the ultimate Creator of this 'Field' we hold so
  dear.

  There is so much more to tell, but I find I'm waking now and it's
  time to get ready for the big show in Las Vegas.  Elvis tells me
  it's going to be his finest hour.  I don't know what he has planned,
  but I can tell from the way he's acting that it's going to be great!
