  20.                          I N T R O D U C T I O N

  23.         BGFORMAT  is a background diskette formatter. It means you can do
  24.         other  task  while  format diskette in the background. the use of
  25.         the  program  is menu driven. Here is some things I want to point
  26.         out.
  27.  
  28.              INSTALLATION - When  the program first loaded, it will check
  29.                             for  what  type  of diskette drive connect to
  30.                             the  system. You can change the configuration
  31.                             at this time if not correct.

  34.              ACTIVATE     - BGFORMAT can only  activate  by holding 'ALT'
  35.                             +  'LEFT  SHIFT'  +   'RIGHT  SHIFT' together
  36.                             provided  the  screen  is not in graphic mode
  37.                             and  diskette motor is not on (diskette drive
  38.                             light not lit).

  41.              SELECTION    - Selection  is  menu driven. You can select by
  42.                             using  the  up  and  down arrow key to desire
  43.                             selection  then  press  carriage  return.  Or
  44.                             just  type  in  the  first  letter  of desire
  45.                             selection.

  48.              FORMAT       - BGFORMAT  can only format 360K, 1.2M for 5.25
  49.                             diskette  and  720K,  1.44M for 3.5 diskette.
  50.                             It  can  format  11  diskettes at a time once
  51.                             activate.  At  the  end  of each diskette, it
  52.                             will  display  'CHANGE'  at  the  right  hand
  53.                             corner  (if  not in graphic mode) and sound a
  54.                             beep   to   alert  you  to  change  diskette.
  55.                             BGFORMAT  will  try in 15 seconds interval to
  56.                             check  for  diskette  change.  Once  it sense
  57.                             change,  it  will  continue  format  until it
  58.                             reach  the  total  format  count. By then, it
  59.                             will  display  'FINISH'  at  the  right  hand
  60.                             corner  and  sound a beep.

  63.                             All  display  during  format  like  'CHANGE',
  64.                             'FINISH',  'ERROR!',  or  'TRACK NUMBER' will
  65.                             not display if screen is in graphic mode.

  68.                             During  format,  all  diskette drive activity
  69.                             will be suspended until format is finish. Any
  70.                             command  issue  to diskette drive will result
  71.                             with disk not ready.

  74.              ERROR        - When  a  error occur during BGFORMAT. It will
  75.                             display 'ERROR!' on right hand corner (if not
  76.                             in graphic mode) and sound TWO beep. You have
  77.                             to  activate  BGFORMAT  to  see  what kind of
  78.                             error and decide to RETRY or ABORT.

  81.              ABORT        - By  holding  'ALT'  +  'LEFT  SHIFT' + 'RIGHT
  82.                             SHIFT'  during  format  will  cause format to
  83.                             abort.

  86.              REPORT       - BGFORMAT  will create a report contain serial
  87.                             number,  number of bad cluster and total size
  88.                             of diskettes when format is finish.

  91.              RELEASE      - Can  release  from  memory if extra memory is
  92.                             needed.  Unless  any  one  of these interrupt
  93.                             vector  address  been  changed. INT 8H (Timer
  94.                             Interrupt),  INT 9H (Keyboard Interrupt), INT
  95.                             EH or INT 13H (Diskette Interrupt).

  101.         Registering  for  background  diskette  formatter is simple. Just
  102.         activate  BGFORMAT,  select  print  registration. It will print a
  103.         registration  form. Just fill in the require information. Send it
  104.         with requested amount. You will receive the latest version of the
  105.         program  without  the  portion  for  print registration (about 2K
  106.         bytes  less).  Your  name  will  be put in a mailing list for any
  107.         future product and upgrade.
