  27.     The complete EDDY package includes the following files:

  29.     1. EDDYREAD.ME - This file
  30.     2. EDDY.COM - The main program
  31.     3. EDDY.AUX - Contains overlays for LOOK, Update, HELP, and menus
  32.     4. EDDY.USE - Sample file to illustrate Point-and-Shoot commands
  33.     5. REGISTER.BAT - Batch file to print the registration form for EDDY
  34.     6. EDDY.DOC - Complete User's Manual
  35.     7. EDDY_HST.DOC - History of changes, by version
  36.     8. EDDY_REG.DOC - Registration form
  37.     9. EDDY_WHY.DOC - Reasons why you should use EDDY
  38.    10. VENDOR.DOC - Conditions for commercial distribution of EDDY

  40.     The EDDY files are packaged for distribution in two formats:
  41.  
  42.         Package format 1 contains all files in ready-to-use form.  About 450
  43.         KB disk space required, including documentation files
  44.  
  45.         Package format 2 has the documentation files (numbers 6 - 10 in the
  46.         list above) combined as a compressed, self-extracting file,
  47.         EDDY_DOC.EXE, which was created using LHA.EXE, Copyright Haruyasu
  48.         Yoshizaki.  About 270 KB disk space required.
  49.  
  50.     Package format 2 is used for distributing EDDY on 360 KB, 5-1/4" disks.
  51.     All other distributions use package format 1.
  52.  
  53.     Installation
  54.     ------------
  55.  
  56.     1.  Copy all files to the disk/directory you'll use to execute EDDY.  If
  57.         one of the files you just copied was EDDY.DOC, the installation is
  58.         now complete.
  59.  
  60.     2.  If your set of files includes the file EDDY_DOC.EXE, you have the
  61.         EDDY distribution package format 2, used with 360 KB, 5-1/4" floppy
  62.         drive systems.
  63.  
  64.         If you have a system with 360 KB, 5-1/4" floppies and no hard drive,
  65.         use the following steps:
  66.  
  67.         a. Copy EDDY_DOC.EXE to a separate, blank, formatted diskette.  The
  68.            decompressed documentation files won't fit on a single 360K
  69.            floppy with the other EDDY files.
  70.  
  71.         b. To access the documentation files, run EDDY_DOC.EXE from this
  72.            separate diskette.  This will decompress the User's Manual and
  73.            other information files.  These files will require about 250 KB
  74.            of disk space when decompressed.
  75.  
  76.     Once EDDY is installed, the simplest way to get familiar with it is to
  77.     just type "EDDY" and [Enter].  There is no danger of damage to your disk
  78.     data, because no changes will be made to any of your directories or
  79.     files unless you explicitly tell EDDY to do so.  A message telling you
  80.     what is about to occur is always displayed, and a confirmation keypress
  81.     is always required.

  87.     EDDY is supplied as-is.  The author disclaims all warranties, expressed
  88.     or implied, including, without limitation, the warranties of merchant-
  89.     ability and the warranties of fitness for any purpose.  Copies of the
  90.     program may not be sold for more than the cost of the medium they are
  91.     copied on, plus reasonable handling charges.  EDDY and its User's Manual
  92.     may be copied ad lib provided all files, including the author's
  93.     copyright notice and disclaimers of warranty are reproduced in full.
  94.  
  95.     Although EDDY is distributed in this way, it is NOT free and is NOT in
  96.     the public domain.  After a reasonable trial period, if you find EDDY to
  97.     be useful and satisfactory to you, and you continue to use EDDY, then
