PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM
Problem #1
You came up with just the right choice of words for that memo, a great
insight for that letter, a nifty formula for that spreadsheet, an elegant
algorithm for that program -- and your computer loses its power -- or you hit
quit instead of save -- or you accidentally delete it and don't notice till too
late. Can you recreate from your memory what the PC has lost from its memory?
Problem #2
You want to show a colleague how to run a program, but you don't have
the time to look over his shoulder while he struggles through it. You wish
you could create a training script that would guide him through what he
needs to know, but a script guaranteed not to have any errors in it and
one that doesn't take much work to create.
Problem #3
You're running a program when it suddenly gets fouled up. But you can't
recall exactly what you did to get stuck, so you don't know if it was your error
or a program bug or what you can do to avoid the problem in the future.
Solution to Problems 1, 2, 3: TOTAL RECALL (R).
TOTAL RECALL records every keystroke to a disk file of your choice.
Entire sessions with one or many programs, including spreadsheets or word
processors, can be saved and played back with TOTAL RECALL, just like a
tape recorder or VCR.
Use TOTAL RECALL to record your keystrokes while installing or
configuring an application program. Keep the recorded keystrokes and you
have a permanent record of how you installed the program which you can play
back later or review. TOTAL RECALL provides a browse and edit function so
you can examine, modify, add or delete recorded keystrokes.
TOTAL RECALL has useful features for creating tutorials or
demonstrations of other programs. For instance, you can:
- Select delay periods
- Set playback speed
- Specify a new start or end point in the playback file
- Mark a keystroke while recording which will cause playback to pause until the
space bar is hit -- a convenient way to ensure that a screen has been read.
- Automatically repeat playback from 1 to an infinite number of times.
(This is great for continuously running demonstrations.)
TOTAL RECALL is easy to use, with a pop-up menu and built-in help.
TOTAL RECALL can capture keystrokes for any program except for other memory
resident programs that are loaded after it. Like all software Packet Press
sells, it comes with a full guarantee so you can return it if it doesn't meet
your needs. (But we bet that once you've tried it, you'll want to keep it.)
