FreeBase (tm) is FREE dataBASE management software. It provides an
interactive "dot-prompt" from which you can execute Clipper commands as
though you were using a dBASE interpreter. FreeBase is compiled with the
Autumn '86 version of Clipper and supports most Clipper commands including
networking. Additionally, FreeBase is linked with Tom Rettig's Library
which adds over 175 functions to the dBASE programming language.
FreeBase is useful for ordinary data base management tasks, trying out
programming ideas, and seeing how functions behave. But it does not run
programs and cannot be used to measure performance because of the time it
takes to "interpret" the command you enter. On-line help is provided for
both Clipper commands and Tom Rettig's Library functions.
