EasyCASE
Version 1.55
EasyCASE Version 1.55 fixes the following bugs found in versions 1.3 and 1.4
and earlier versions of 1.5.
Note : The user manual documentation (v1.3) is largely unaffected, with the
exception that the Preview function selection has been moved to the Print
dialog box and zoom level is selected via a pop-up dialog box and additional
options have been added to the Print dialog box for printing to HP DeskJets
and LaserJets at resolutions of 150dpi and 300dpi in PORTRAIT mode only.
v1.37 Upgrade Fixes :
1. Can now Export chart files to dBASE III+ from Export options dialog box.
2. No longer get 'Illegal Function Call...." message if left mouse button
pressed in chart window prior to manipulating any objects.
3. Flows are unhighlighted if Move cancelled after object selection.
4. Label placed properly on Flows and Arrows if previously identified, but
un-labelled object labelled by labelling another similarly identified object.
v1.4 Upgrade Fixes :
5. Set default for Save Chart to Yes.
6. Re-draw Menu also when chart Re-drawn using menu option.
7. Can select Yourdon or Gane & Sarson symbols set from Options entry in menu
for DFDs as intended.
8. Corrected problem which could cause text on chart not to print if entire
chart printed, rather than selected area.
9. Can now print correctly to Epson LQ (Portrait mode only available)
10. Flow entry/exit ports drawn and used properly for extra-large and giant data
and control stores.
11. Print Preview mode is now selected via an option in the Print dialog box
selected from the menu.
12. Preview has been removed from the menu.
13. SYMBOL has been replaced by CHANGE toward the top of the menu, underneath
which are options to change an Object Type, Size or the Number of Arrowheads
on a flow or connection.
14. Zoom factor for Zoom and Preview modes is selectable with the mouse via a 3-
entry dialog box. No re-draw if on change in zoom factor.
v1.5 Upgrade Fixes :
1. Symbols now plot again at the proper place on the page.
2. Handshake protocol with Plotter now functions correctly provided plotter is
set to 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, Hardwire handshake.
3. Files can now be loaded from a different drive or subdirectory and may be
specified partially or in full drive and/or pathname form.
4. Files can be saved or exported correctly to another drive and/or subdirectory.
5. Filenames specified for save or export are truncated to 8 characters in
accordance with DOS filenaming convention. Current chart type mnemonic is
used as the file extension regardless of that specified. This is to allow
EasyCASE to set the correct chart type when reloading.
6. Error trapping incorporated so that attempts to save, export, print, plot,
load etc. files to or from non-existent or erroneous drive and/or pathname
specifiers does not cause a program 'crash'. For example, if an attempt is
made to save a file to a floppy drive whose door is open, you will be
notified of an error condition and provided with the oppurtunity to retry or
abort the save. Similarly for loading files.
8. Error trapping improved to accomodate more possible device errors when
printing and plotting charts.
9. Changed to 'exploding, shadowed' windows.
10. Inserting a blank line (all spaces) prior to the text of an existing label
inside the pop-up label dialog box no longer causes a program 'crash'.
11. Certain chart options are now saved with the chart. This currently includes
the symbol set (Yourdon or Gane & Sarson) used for the chart (DFDs and TRGs
only) and the setting of auto flow routing (pipes or straight connections).
Note that EasyCASE v1.5 will read chart files from previous verions (v1.2
through v1.4), but files saved using v1.5 will NOT be readable by previous
versions without minor editing.
12. HP7475 (Emulation) Plotter clipping problem removed. Chart currently prints
smaller than desired. Full fix to be provided later.
13. Extraneous, uncontrolled BEEPs now silenced if beep option turned off.
14. Ensure correct font selected after Exporting chart to Paint file format if
previously in zoom mode.
15. Provide OK/Cancel dialog box (defaults to OK) for confirming Exporting of
chart fragment to Paint file after selecting area.
16. Default confirmation to OK after selecting chart fragment to Print or Plot.
17. Substitute quote character (") with apostrophe character (') if entered in
in an object label or text block string to prevent subsequent chart re-load
problems. If you have experienced problems saving and subsequently re-loading
a chart after using the " character in a label or text block (error message :
Input Past End Of File), contact us for details of how to edit the chart file
to enable it to be recovered.
18. Fixed problem which could result in ability to select symbols from the menu
after selecting a chart fragment to Export to Paint file.
v1.52
Fixed a minor problem which could cause the PC Paintbrush file conversion
utility in Lotus Manuscript v2.0 to incompletely convert such a file type to
its own internal bit map format for importing into a document.
v1.53
Support added to print to HP LaserJets and DeskJets (using HP PCL level 3)
in both 150 and 300 dots per inch (dpi) resolution in PORTRAIT mode only.
At 150 dpi it is possible to print 16 symbol columns by 20 symbol rows with
igh legibility. At 300 dpi it is possible to fit the entire chart area (32
columns by 32 rows) on a sheet of A-size paper with low legibility. This
feature is currently provided to output a depiction of the entire chart and
is being expanded to provide the capability to produce chart fragments at 300
dpi with very high legibility and 'smoothness'. Note that any attempt to
select 150 or 300 dpi in Landscape mode will result in a 100dpi printout.
v1.54
1. No longer get out of string space message when attempting to print more
than 10 columns to Epson LQ.
2. Get proper view of chart when printing at 300dpi on a HP PCL printer.
v1.55
1. Option provided in Chart Options dialog box to move labels associated with
flows/connections also, whenever flow or connection moved. This will apply if
connections moved directly or as a result of moving a symbol with which it is
associated. Default is ON.
2. HPGL plots are now located correctly on page again !
3. 'Select Chart Area to Print' option, selected from the Print dialog box is
more forgiving. The OK/Cancel options have been extended with the addition of
a Re-do option. If, after selecting an area, you are not happy with what you
selected, select the Re-do option and try again.
4. The Re-do option has also been added to the dialog box which appears after
you have selected an area of the chart to export to Paint file. See 3. above.
5. Selected printer type is no longer lost (if other than Epson FX) after
exporting a chart to Paint file.
