  13.              SPELLING CHECKER
  14.                  We have added an integrated spelling checker with a
  15.                  112,000+ word dictionary.  You can check spelling
  16.                  globally or by word.  When unrecognized words are
  17.                  encountered, you can select from suggested spellings,
  18.                  edit the word and recheck, ignore all occurrences of
  19.                  the word, skip the word once, or add the word to the
  20.                  dictionary.  Suggested spelling are presented in a
  21.                  point-and-shoot window.  The number of words you can
  22.                  add is practically unlimited.

  24.              WORD-WRAP and REFORMAT
  25.                  Set CADET's word wrap, and the text automatically wraps
  26.                  at the specified margin as you type.  Editable hard
  27.                  carriage returns are displayed on screen.  CADET's
  28.                  Reformat is used to set new margins and to reformat
  29.                  edited paragraphs to their original neatness.
  30.                  Word-wrap and Reformat are only available when
  31.                  accessing CADET through the new CADET-Notes interface
  32.                  (see below).

  34.              CADET-NOTES
  35.                  A new AutoLISP interface, CN (CADET-Notes), has been
  36.                  added to the CADET system.  CN is used to create a
  37.                  single column of text, ideal for generating drawing
  38.                  notes.  CN accesses the CADET editor in a free-form
  39.                  style in which utilizes CADET's new word-wrap and
  40.                  reformat features.

  42.              IMPROVED SEARCH-AND-REPLACE
  43.                  CADET's Search-and-Replace and Find-Text features have
  44.                  three new search options.  Choose to ignore case or
  45.                  make case-sensitive searches.  Find embedded text or
  46.                  make whole word matches only.  Search for the first
  47.                  match below the cursor position, or search globally
  48.                  from the top.  Also new is the way CADET keeps the last
  49.                  used search strings as defaults, simplifying repeated
  50.                  searches.

  52.              RUN CADET FROM A RAM DISK
  53.                  New installation procedures can give CADET a speed
  54.                  boost by utilizing a ram disk.  You can use a ram disk
  55.                  for either CADET's transfer files, the CADET executable
  56.                  program, the CADET dictionary, or any combination of
  57.                  the above.

  59.              NEW INSTALLATION OPTIONS
  60.                  You can now configure CADET to start-up in 43/50 row
  61.                  mode for your EGA/VGA video system.

  71.                  rate active when exiting the program, boosting cursor
  72.                  speed in other applications run after CADET.

  76.                  files.

  78.                  Conflicts between CADET's interface command names (CE,
  79.                  CC, CN and CI) and identically named commands from
  80.                  other third-party programs can now be easily corrected.

  82.              MISCELLANEOUS
  83.                  The [Ctrl-W] command, previously assigned to Delete
  84.                  Word, is now used to set Word Wrap.  The new key
  85.                  assigned to Delete Word is [Ctrl-BackSpace].

  87.                  The CADET editor's prompts have been streamlined and
  88.                  colorized.  Option hot-keys are highlighted in a
  89.                  different color, and defaults are show in <brackets>.

  91.                  A new program, PRINTDOC.EXE, has been provided to print
  92.                  the CADET documentation.  PRINTDOC can provide a 60
  93.                  lines-per-page format, replace the extended IBM line
  94.                  drawing characters with more universally printable
  95.                  characters, and/or add hard form-feeds for printers
  96.                  which have trouble maintaining the document's page
  97.                  breaks in their proper places.

  103.              ASP MEMBERSHIP
  104.                  The author of CADET, Steve Waskow, is now a member of
  105.                  the Association of Shareware Professionals (ASP).  The
  106.                  ASP maintains a high set of standards for its members,
  107.                  so in choosing shareware by ASP members you can expect
  108.                  quality and professionalism.
  109.  
  110.              TEXT FILE IMPORT AND EXPORT
  111.                  A new program, CI.LSP, has been added to the CADET
  112.                  system.  CI can import ASCII text files from disk into
  113.                  your AutoCAD drawings.  You can specify text height,
  114.                  justification and line spacing, and create multiple
  115.                  columns.

  117.                  A new command, [Ctrl-X], has been added to the CADET
  118.                  editor to export the text to a disk file.  Use CE to
  119.                  pull text from your drawing into the CADET editor, sort
  120.                  it by rows or by columns, then use [Ctrl-X] to write
  121.                  the file.

  123.              TYPEMATIC RATE ACCELERATOR
  124.                  CADET now has a built in typematic rate accelerator for
  125.                  IBM AT and PS/2 class computers - including most 286,
  126.                  386 and 486 compatibles.  The new CHKSPEED utility will
  127.                  test your system compatibility.

  136.                  The accelerator primarily serves to speed up the cursor
  137.                  movements.  Use the new [Ctrl-T] type rate command to
  138.                  toggle between the three available speeds.  You can
  139.                  install CADET to start-up in your favorite speed.
  140.                  Installation options allow you to disable the
  141.                  accelerator if you are already using a resident
  142.                  acceleration utility.

  144.              CHARACTER CODES
  145.                  The keys used to insert AutoCAD's special characters
  146.                  for overscore, underscore, plus or minus, circle
  147.                  diameter and degrees symbols have been changed to a
  148.                  more mnemonic set: Alt-O, Alt-U, Alt-P, Alt-C, and
  149.                  Alt-D respectively. The keys used in previous CADET
  150.                  versions are still supported.

  152.              MEMORY MANAGEMENT
  153.                  CADET's AutoLISP interface routines CE.LSP and CC.LSP,
  154.                  and the new CI.LSP utility now share a memory
  155.                  management scheme which minimizes their overhead in the
  156.                  AutoLISP environment.  This boosts their performance
  157.                  when using two or more of them during a drawing
  158.                  session.  If desired, you can disable the CADET memory
  159.                  management scheme during installation or by setting a
  160.                  configuration variable.

  162.              SORTING ORDER and SORTING COORDINATES
  163.                  You can now install CADET to default to row sort order
  164.                  at start-up, rather than column sort order.
  165.  
  166.                  CADET now uses the "insert" point of center, middle and
  167.                  right justified text for row and column sorting.  In
  168.                  general, this gives you a better picture of the text's
  169.                  organization when you are using the CADET editor.  The
  170.                  previous version of CADET used the lower left text
  171.                  corner for sorting.  If desired, you can still have
  172.                  CADET sort by the lower left text corner with an
  173.                  installation option or by setting a configuration
  174.                  variable.

  176.              IMPROVED ATTRIBUTE EDITING
  177.                  The CADET editor's status line now displays the
  178.                  attribute prompts along with the block name and
  179.                  attribute tag.  CE.LSP now handles edited block
  180.                  attributes by updating the block just once - not once
  181.                  per changed attribute.

  183.              TEXT FONT STYLE
  184.                  Changing text style has been simplified by having the
  185.                  styles presented in alphabetical order.  You can now
  186.                  use the [Up] and [Down] cursor keys to move through the
  187.                  list.  The spacebar functions same as the [Down] key.

  189.              BLOCK OPERATIONS
  190.                  A new option, Swap, has been added to the [Ctrl-M] mark
  191.                  block function.  Swap exchanges the marked block with
  192.                  the contents of the copy buffer, simplifying many
  193.                  cut-and-paste operations.

  202.              MISCELLANEOUS
  203.                  The CADET installation program, CADETIN, now checks to
  204.                  see if your ACAD.LSP file is encrypted prior to
  205.                  installing the CADET options.

  207.                  The [Ctrl-W] delete word function is better behaved
  208.                  about leaving a space between the words preceding and
  209.                  following the deleted word.

  211.                  A bug which sometimes did not highlight a marked block
  212.                  which extended to the 255th column has been corrected.
  213.  
  214.                  The monochrome color set has been changed to a more
  215.                  pleasing combination.
  216.  
  217.                  A documentation formatting utility, 60LINE, has been
  218.                  included to produce a 60 lines per page version of the
  219.                  User's Manual, CADET.DOC.  Many laser and inkjet
  220.                  printers require a 60 lines per page format.

  222.                  PRINTDOC, the new batch program, prints all the CADET
  223.                  documentation for you.
